Система компьютерной алгебры GAP: Spring School on Fixed Parameter and Exact Algorithms

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION Spring School on Fixed Parameter and Exact Algorithms May 25-29, Ile Rousse, Corsica (France) Scope: Fixed parameter tractable (FPT) and exponential-time algorithms are hot topics in algorithms. Both approaches aim at reducing the combinatorial explosion of NP-hard problems. In moderately exponential-time algorithms, we search for fastest possible exact algorithms - typically the exponential time depends on the size of the instance - which should be practical on instances of moderate sizes. In FPT, the idea is to design algorithms for which the exponential factor of the running-time only depends on some parameter which is expected to be small in practical use. The school adresses to doctoral and post-doctoral students as well as confirmed researchers working in or interested by these areas. The program consists on two to three hours lectures and discussions on each of the topics listed below as well as open problems sessions. Lectures: M. Fellows: Introduction to fixed parameter tractability and overview of the field T. Husfeldt, P. Kaski: Introduction to exact exponential algorithms D. Marx: FPT algorithmic techniques F. Grandoni: Analysis of exact algorithms S. Saurabh: Kernels - lower and upper bounds M. Fellows: FPT complexity and W- hierarchy D. Kratsch: Branching algorithms F. Fomin: Subexponential algorithms and bidimensonality Location: Club Belambra "Golfe de Lozari", Belgode`re, Corsica. The hotel is 30 km from Calvi airport, 70 km from Bastia airport and port and 7 km from Ile Rousse port. Note that Corsica can also be reached by ferry from Nice. Registration: Registration includes housing and all meals from May 24 dinner to May 29 lunch. The registration fee is 450 euros/person (350 euros/student, 550 euros/non-academic). Registration is free for CNRS researchers, including students and postdocs with CNRS grants.
