“Middle
English” - “среднеанглийский”, термин, используемый для обозначения
языка, который сформировался примерно через сто лет после норманнского
завоевания Англии (1066) и находился в употреблении примерно до 1500
года. Этот язык состоял из набора региональных диалектов, каждому из
которых были присущи свои особенности произношения и письма. Давайте
посмотрим, что представлял собой мидлендский диалект, предок
современного английского, язык образованных классов Лондона, а также
Джеффри Чосера (?1343 - 1400) - великого английского поэта.
