While the guys were skating Justin Mannon kicked the wall with one skate, and got twisted around and hit his head into the plexi glass. His helmet was cracked in the back in two places and there was a lot of concern about his neck (which is very sore today).

Four flights, a bus ride, and twenty-nine hours after leaving Melbourne (AUS), we Angeline Thomas and I (Mick Byrne) arrived in Gijon. We met DJ Nation (NZL) on the last flight from Madrid to Asturias - he was to be picked up at the airport by teammates Scott Arlidge, Reyon Kay and Nicole Begg who were driving from Switzerland - doing the now-routine New Zealand thing of arriving at Worlds ahead
