Joey Mantia’s Blog
2008-08-11 13:46 peterdoucet

Here’s a blog with good perspectives that you may have been waiting for; Joey Mantia’s blog- What I see I What You Get.

In his entry Finish the Book, he discusses junior skaters’ acomplishments within the greater context.

He also shares his thoughts on skaters who switch from roller to ice speed skating.

Point is, put 100% effort into the task at hand and have a little patience. If you are truly a champion you will exceed in whatever you do, regardless of how long it takes. If you’re not a true champion at heart, trying something new (especially something that is very similiar) will probably yield the same results.

EGC- Mad Dog’s Boots
2008-08-12 20:40 peterdoucet

Eric Gee shared his progess with Phillip Morris’ boots in the entry Mad Dog.

Gatorback- Boot 1, 3rd Week
2008-08-12 20:46 peterdoucet

You can read up Boot #1, week 3 to catch up on the progress with Gatorback Sports Blog’s boot making.

Sewing went much faster this time around since I just had to make a lap around the base of the boot‘ - photo and caption from Gatorback Sports Blog

Carbon work plan will be as follows (toe is north, heel is south).

Layer 1: Unidirectional (N/S)
Layer 2: Unidirectional (NE/SW)
Layer 3: Unidirectional (SE/NW)
Layer 4: Unidirectional (E/W)
Layer 6: Woven (N/E)

The mounting blocks will be inserted after layer 3 and before layer 4.

The idea for this shell is to give it a very high strength to weight ratio.

Hallum Not On WIC
2008-08-12 20:52 peterdoucet

According to the thread HALLUM HOLLAND WIC CANCELLED, the Hallum race will not be part of the World Inline Cup circuit- you can (try to) read about the race here.

Unfortunately the HALLUM class 1 event has been cancelled, in an email from the Iguana office, they have notified us that the organizors had not paid the fee, so it has lost its status & there will be non points up for grabs.

What They Liked About Hayward
2008-08-12 20:56 peterdoucet

The thread What i liked about Hayward contains a lot of positive comments about the Hayward Inline Challenge-

The only thing I DIDN’T particularly like is how far it was to the middle of nowhere. I think we were on backroads for over 2 hours! It paid off though because it ended up being a really cool town once we got there. It was absolutely beautiful. The lake water behind the stage of the awards ceremony was more clear than what comes out of my tap here in Oklahoma.

2008-08-12 21:02 peterdoucet

Bill Begg provides us with a preview of the St Gallen Inline 111- read more in INLINE 111 ST. GALLEN. On Sunday evening, Richard Deniaud told me I have to go race in the 111. He also sent me messages on MSN reminding me…

Frenchman Richard Denuad 3rd last year races off the back of the main group & will be caught out, if he trys the same tactic this year, the chirpy Canadian Aaran Arndt, a long distance Guru is back in Canada recovering from his bad injury & unfortunately can not improve on his 4th from last year.

In the ladies ultra distance specialist Anne Claire Malliard France has not raced this year, but St. Gallen is her favourite, two Argentina skaters Andrea Haritchelhar & Tamara Llorens could face the starter as well, also the well performed Irene Raab from Germany, this year the ladies are likely to start a few minutes behind the men,to ensure they get off together & prevent some of them getting assistance from the men.

Yann Guyader’s Perspective Of Biel WIC/ SIC
2008-08-12 21:07 peterdoucet

Roller En Ligne teamed up with Yann Guyader to provide a report from the front from this past Saturday’s Biel World Inline Cup/ Swiss Inline Cup-

Joey Mantia- The Writer- Will Power & Doing The Same Thing
2008-08-12 21:15 peterdoucet

Joey Mantia’s blog, What You see Is What You Get, served as a catalyst for multiple discussions and exchanges in the thread Joey MANTIA - THE WRITER…….

On with the better stuff; his two latest entries include People Hate Other People For The Same Things They Do and You Probably Have More Will Power Then You Think… USE IT!-

Be stubborn over your body, after all, you are the only one that controls it. Don’t let a few electrical signals stand between you and an intense workout that will leave you feeling accomplished and heading towards your goals.

Wouter Hebbrecht In Gijon
2008-08-13 02:51 peterdoucet

Wouter Hebbrecht’s latest entries, 25 DAYS TO GO and 24 DAYS TO GO, tell the story of his journey from Belgium to Gijon, Spain and of his first day there. He is Gijon early to prepare for the World Roller Speed Skating Championships which kick-off in early September.

Today i could skate on the track in Gijon for the very first time. Let me tell you it is a great track, very similar to the track in Cali (worlds 2007) but yet different! The same people/company that made the track in Cali made this one right here in Gijon so that’s probably why its so similar (i am talking about the top layer they put on the track). As

Anyway i am slowly adjusting to the Spanish way of living; waking up around 9 AM to get breakfast, skate around noon, getting in a little nap in the afternoon to skate again around 8 PM; something i wouldn’t mind doing for the rest of my days ;-)

This is a very cool video: Hulzebosch Vs Van Velde. I love how they follow the skaters through the winding streets lined with crowds.
