Observations of Russian Navy / nuclear forces bcasts this morning:

Bcasts to RDL observed on these frequencies:

18.1 kHz, 27.3 kHz

HF paralell frequencies to the 18.1 kHz bcasts was;
7657, 8130, 9346, 11468, 12741, 14411

Still no pralell frequencies found for the 27.3 kHz bcasts, but as these bcasts is (most likely) intended for Russian far-east facilities, I guess HF frequencies would be hard to find from this qth.

A second chain of transmitters using T600 operated at these frequencies:
9224, 12610, 13490, 14581, but is not operated in paralell to the RDL bcasts.

Sam,

that one belongs to this unid Turkish net ("FFF1") too.

It looks like that each (?) 3FF1 has an equivalent of an 8FF1
ident, e.g. 3551 - 8551, 3011 - 8011, 3061 - 8061 etc.,
while the only so far seen 4FF1 follow the same "rule"
(3061 - 4061 - 8061).

Even for the only 3FF2 (3062) there is an 8062.

Maybe 3 -> 8 are sub-offices of the same "station" ?

Sadly we didn't get any further help to ID this Turkish net.

I did a small summary file which I will send Ary later today,
maybe it will be uploaded into the file section, so we could
do some joint investigations... (Thomas Rosner, Germany - udxf 06/12/2007)

It is possible, not guaranteed but possible, that we may be in a position to exercise the KSM 22Mc transmitter on Saturday, 8 December. The transmitter hasn't been turned on in some time so we might encounter a glitch or two when the money button is pressed. But if you're in a position to listen we'd appreciate signal reports. The frequency is: 22445.8.

As usual, we'll be on these CW frequencies:

426
500
4350.5
6474.0
8438.3
12993.0
16914.0

and on these RTTY frequencies:

8433.0
12631.0

The KSM operator may be reached directly via Skype when the station is on the air at:

radio-ksm

K6KPH will guard:

7050.0
14050.0

for signal reports. Continue to call "K6KPH" until the operator sends "DE", then give your call.

If you're not a member of our email distribution list and would like to become a member for information about our operations just send an email to:
radiomarine-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

a short update for the (believed to be) Ukrainian Navy CW-nets.

6863 kHz was again active at the 1130 UTC sked
"VVV = USL2 ... de URR85 ... COL ... = K "
No traffic after the calling, just calling and s/off..

And at 1200 UTC on 6850.0 UWA211 came with FSK-CW/500Hz shift
calling USU8, with (duplex) OP chat, e.g.
"... ZZF NR 1 SLOW 15 = SL?"

Note:
UWA211 was active some days before in "normal CW" on 6850.5 kHz

Much UKR CW-tfc today.

==============

Also much Russian CW the same time (1130/1200 UTC) in CW too.

a) RMP with 5FGs to RKB91& RKO81 on 6873 kHz

b) UNID with "XXX"-Strategic Flash Message to RLO on 6877 in FSK-CW/200Hz:
"XXX XXX RLO RLO PODAROK 01 1310 315 090 1502", into FSK-Revs.

c) RFFN-Net on 6753

Very busy CIS Ny days...

But the complete logs will be send later to the list.
(Thomas Rosner, Germany - udxf 07/12/2007)

also the Russian civil (?) aero circuits are much active on HF again,
last night on 5180 kHz an unid station in RTTY/ITA2-50Bd-250Hz
with endless messages on circuit WSD.

I think it could be a circuit from "UNLL" (Kolpashevo Airport)
to "UNLM" (no airport given under this locator)?
Right ?

Kolpashevo Airport: "It is a civilian airfield with a simple utilitarian
paved layout and 500 x 50 meter tarmac." (from Wiki')

UNLK also not allocated ?
UNCK not
UNNT Novosibirsk
UNSP not

.... hmmm ?!?!?

Seems that many Russian airport allocations are not internationally
registrated? But maybe it is not a civil aero circuit, but MIL ?

"GG UNLMZX" = To, with "GG Priority"
Second line GG might be "CC Copy to ..."
"061047 UNLLZTZX" : Message from 06 Dec 1047 hours from UNLL
(ZTZX should be an "office" identification)

What means: PEREADRESOWKA (? "and copy to ...")

Here are some headers:

Long time ago that I saw such RTTY aero circuits on HF ;-))
(Thomas Rosner, Germany - udxf 07/12/2007)

6863 heard here as well.
At 1200z same frequency "vvv vvv ... = k"
then quiet until 1230z.

Flash message on 6877 most probably came from RIT, "podarok" being
one of the most repeated codewords.

RFFx network still a mistery to me.
(Fritz Nusser, Zuerich Switzerland - udxf 07/12/2007)

here is the first part of my and ALF's loggings from the last days.

Part 1: Voice
=================

Just "few" questions...hi

a) "4617" called by CAMSLANT - Nothing found in the USCG "file".

b) How many Breguet Atlantic "Br.1150" aircrafts of the Italian Navy
are using the callsign "DAGA 88". Can't find their "fleet" listing.
No "tails end" known.

c) 8034 kHz: Russian phonepatch operation (base/NCS), behavior like
their usual coastal stations (with "contact finished, 5 minutes")?
Are there any other Russian telecom stations active, serving
remote/mobile/company stations? There are some of these nets around.
Any Russian speaking members? Marat ? Old Crow? ;-)

A) See the "QPSK" on 3572 kHz:

The latest "ITU INTERNATIONAL MONITORING" bulletin #315
gave for this station "4 PHASE QPSK DGPS from The Netherlands".
But this list (259 pages with Ute and BC loggings from well payed
official profi-"DXer" from many national telecommunication
authorities show much silly nonsense !! But it IDed many many
of my unid STANAG "noise" entries...hi

See
www.itu.int/ITU-R/terrestrial/monitoring/index.html

Any possibility to decode these HF/MF DGPS?
Sadly the DSCdecoder could only deal with the DGPS stns on longwave
(200-300 kHz). Not with any on MF of HF...
I even can't google any site of any MF/HF DGPS provider...

B) The unid PACTOR "LFLL"-net

==========================

ALL of them are UNID... pse pse ;-))

The "5002 kHz" with 1050 to 1101 look like another
channel of the so-called "Arab Voice Net" (see 6881.5/6902.5 etc.)

6681 kHz could be the same case... and

maybe 6522 kHz with 1126 is a part of this system too?
* 1126 so far seen on 5440 (& 1124), 5540 (& 1121, 1123, 1124 + 5357)
* Related / Same net ?? All 112x (plus 7357?) ?
* BTW, "7357" on 5258 kHz too (together with 1111, 2222) and
* ... and 1111 is an ident on "Arab Voice Net #1"
* (and on Moroccan CP)
* but that do not need to mean anything... But ?

-------------

6789.5 kHz with 6320: Could belong to the second Arab Voice Net
"4378xx-Net", as it show up on some 4378FF channels.
See the profile

They are either military or could be non-airfield facilities, such as
EDZZ-Frankfurt Computer facility or EDZW-German Meteo.

>"GG UNLMZX" = To, with "GG Priority"
>Second line GG might be "CC Copy to ..."

Re-addressed message, as I recall. The message is going only to the address
in the first line in this transmission. Addressees in the second line have been
served by a separate transmission. This is rather an outdated AFTN procedure and
I understand things have changed considerably since these were current.

>"061047 UNLLZTZX" : Message from 06 Dec 1047 hours from UNLL
> (ZTZX should be an "office" identification)

Here's a list of the (non-company) two-letter suffixes to location indicators:

YA-Government Civil Aviation Authority. YB-Meteo telecomms. YC-Search & Rescue.
YD-Aerodrome Authority. YF-Aeronautical Fixed Station (VOLMET, RADIO etc).
YJ-ADNC (Air Defence Notification Centre). YL-Aircraft Accident Authority.
YM-Meteorological Office. YN-International NOTAM Office. YO-Aero Information Unit.
YP-Collection Centres (!! ?) YS-Aeronautical Station. TY-Telecomms Authority (AFTN
commcen). YW-Military Flight Ops. YX-Military service or organisation identified
in the text. YY-Other unallocated organisations identified in the text.
YZ-Meteorological Data Bank (??) ZA-Approach. ZF-Area Control VFR flights.
ZG-Air Traffic Control (General). ZI-Flight Information Centre. ZO-Oceanic
Control Centre (like Shanwick, Gander etc). ZP-Air Traffic Services Flight plans.
ZQ-Area Control Centre IFR flights. ZR-Area Control Centre. ZT-Aerodrome Control
Tower. ZU-Upper Area Control Centre. ZZ-Aircraft in flight identified in the text.

Suffixes following these are locally allocated, so we can't say who UNLLZTZX is apart
from someone in the tower at Kolpashevo, perhaps? Unlikely as Kolpashevo is an FIR
(an air traffic control centre (ATCC)).

Checking the band this morning about fourty-five minutes before sunrise
turned-up a strong signal from rarely heard VIR-281 up in Point Barrow, the
northern-most beacon in Alaska. I keep a list of previously unheard Alaskans
and started at the top. Several new ones were logged, ones that I have
checked for, without success, for several years now ...but this morning,
all were strong, indicating the superb propagation to the north. I only wish
that I had started earlier in the morning.

Here are the results of the last two nights listening sessions. 1 Dec was
pretty flat, but things seemed to improve last night. The surprise of the
night was in hearing RG-352 from Cook Island. At first I ignored it,
thinking it was RG-350 with an offset that had "slipped. It's a regular
here. But when I tuned up in frequency, passing the carriers on 351 KCs and
then heard a much stronger RG I realized that they weren't the same beacon.
So I went back and "snagged" it 8^) That's only the second time I've heard
RG-352 here.

Another nice surprise was VM-352, a new one, making beacon #1112 for me.
IOt was quite strong and clear.

The logs, all either new for the Winter 07-08 listening season, or totally
new (*).

Yesterday I have monitored the 309.5 and 312.5 from 8 to 18 UTC using
Spectrum Lab.

The black sea beacons TR,SW,EYa on 309.5 and BT on 312.5 have been
audible all the day. It seems that BK is inactive or using very low
power.

The attached pdf plot shows the relative signal strength for six minutes
averaged over 10 hours (time resolution 2 seconds). The 20 second dashes
of in slots 1,5,6 on 309.5 and in slot 5 on 312.5 are clearly visible.
The corresponding idents which have been determined "by ear" are plotted
near the peaks.

What is quite interesting is the small peak in slot #1 on 312.5. As you
can see on the jpg screen capture from Spectrum Lab, this signal peaked
at 13:42 UTC. (Christoph Mayer, Neustrelitz, Germany - ndblist 03/12/2007)

My friend Scott, VE7TIL, who is currently travelling in Asia on business,
sent me a list of what he heard in Beijing today. I assume these are all
local since he is using the built-in antenna on his portable rx. If these
are of value for RNA/REU or for anyone else keeping track, please let me
know and I will encourage him to continue logging during his travels. If
not, I can advise him otherwise.

CO-407 often heard here around -1050 Hz, as you say. I've always
assumed that this is Missouri. I've never heard two "CO" signals
(unfortunately). CM-407 Illinois is also heard here around -1050 Hz.
Being a pest, I don't pay much attention to it. (Andy Robins KB8QGF
Kalamazoo, Michigan USA - ndblist 07/12/2007)

Did not get a chance to listen until this am (~1200 UTC). Hearing CO (fairly fast ID) at -1047 and CM at -1052 (fairly slow ID). I assume that the CO was Colorado. It’s fairly regular here, as are most of the other CO BCNs (e.g., 260:AP Denver and 400:FN Fort Collins). It’s been a long time since I heard another CO. Last time I heard it (2005), it was around -1060. Will try again this evening, but evenings have not been very good, with 3 snow storms in the last four days. (k9qu - ndblist 07/12/2007)

Am claiming 407 CO, MO as a new one after numerous fadeups, with 407 CO,CO
always strong on top, same approximate -1050 offset. CO would fade up every
now and then for a few idents, while I tried to hear it through
always-strong CO,CO--occasionally getting a half second break to try to fill
in the bits in the ident. I sat on that frequency for 30-40
minutes....There's a chance I was only hearing CM, but I believe I heard
several instances of a solid O after the C. CO,CO has a fairly fast ident;
the weaker one was slower.
Note RVB with its apparently-wandering offset, quite aways off now. Most of
the other offsets were not strictly checked but are from the last time I
heard the beacons and aren't much different, so don't take them as gospel,
except for RVB. I was primarily relogging stuff I hadn't logged in 6 months
or more, with nothing exotic heard.

(D. Kremp, France - ndblist 08/12/2007)

At the moment, 10:50 UTC, just before local noon, I am receiving a very weak
LT-305,
Alert, Canada, 4014 km on 305.416 kHz.
The signal is hovering around my noise floor and catching the ID is sketchy
to say the least.
On my ARGO screen I can see very faint traces at 405.000 and 405.416 kHz.
However visual copy of the ID is not possible.

Last year I did receive LT-305 also at daytime, though more to the end of
December.
I wonder if anyone north from me can hear it as well.
My guess is that even a distance 100 km to the north should improve signal stength.
