Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, relating to retrieving information about the connections between subscribers and (or) subscriber's devices
Amendments
to
the Federal law N 143-FZ from July 1, 2010 (document is
in Russian), stipulate that if there are sufficient grounds to believe
that information about the interactions between the subscribers
and (or) the subscribers' devices is important for the criminal
case, obtaining such information is permitted by an investigator
based on court solutions.
Obtaining information about
the connections between subscribers and (or) the subscriber
devices is understood as the fact of retrieving information
about the date, time, duration of the connections between the
subscribers and (or) the subscribers' devices (user equipment),
numbers of subscribers, and other data to identify subscribers
as well as information on numbers and location of transmitting
base stations.
The duration
of receiving information by an investigator about the connections
between subscribers and (or) subscribers' devices can be up
to six months. The relevant service provider is required to
provide the investigator with such information as it becomes
available, but not less than once a week for the whole period
of the investigation.
