Craig Schumann's "Just Enough Governance for Lotus Notes" is the first real guide to implementing IT governance principles and processes specifically in Lotus Notes, and doing so without stifling developer initiative and the RAD capabilities that have made Lotus Notes what it is today.
Domino has so many features we sometimes can't remember them all. Vladislavs Tatarincevs provides a couple of links and some script for autostarting Domino on Linux.
Some of Mike Sobczak's users were left searching for the Search toolbar button even after adding it to their Toolbar preferences in the Notes 8 Standard client. While the fix is simple, it isn't obvious.
Every now and then I get asked about adding a "remember me" feature to a Domino login page so that the user doesn't need to remember/enter their name/password each time. Each time I explain that it's not possible with Domino and, even if it were, it's not advisable.
On occasion I'll go on to to suggest that most current browsers give the user the option to remember the form details anyway. Normally this suffices.
Now though I have a user who really wants this feature, whatever the cost (in terms of actual cost to implement and in terms of lost security). I need to advise just what the cost is on both sides of the coin.
The question is -- is this even possible?
Having spent some time thinking about it I've got a few ideas floating about in my head. Whether they'd work or not I don't know until I've tried them out. What I need to do is find which would be the least insecure.
What I wondered was if anybody else had tackled this already? If so, how?
In this article, we're looking at some important troubleshooting tips. What happens when something goes wrong on the Mac? Take a deep breath and don't panic. Troubleshooting is troubleshooting regardless of platform. Here are the most common issues, installation issues, networking issues, crashes, and some tips on what to do to resolve them.

You can easily create user-driven navigators in your Notes/Domino applications. But you must make some modifications if you want to create one that gives users more control. Get step-by-step instructions to compose a user-control navigator in a Notes/Domino application in this tip.
When a user hits the End key on a view or folder, the screen shifts to the non-existant rightmost column of the view or folder, effectively showing a blank screen. The home key returns the screen to the leftmost column.
This is causing confusing for users and I have never understood why Notes does that.
This happens whit every database, every view and folder.
I would think it makes more sense that the end key shifts the data so that righmost column is displayed next to the right margin.
It's easy to see how the sidebar can become crowded with different applications. I'd like to be able to select various sidebars to be visible or otherwise depending upon the context in which I'm working, rather like using Working Sets in DDE to group related applications. For example, I might like Sametime, my corporate directory and my supplier directory to appear when I'm working in PIM views, or my shared bookmarks sidebar and my team blog to appear when I'm working in my team task calendar. You could then avoid the extra work necessary to navigate around temporarily irrelevant applications and reduce the chances being distracted. I guess the work that went into the composite application framework to facilitate this would be useful for developers when considering their own composite apps.
After rebooting my machine for the 2nd time before 7 AM, I had to post something about this. The stability of DDE is really unacceptable.
There is not a single feature I wanted added to the Designer more then just basic stability. Please - just let me make it through one day without having to reboot.
I'm really tired of the 1980's design of the workspace. It has served Notes users well for over 20 years, but the time has come for a major and I mean MAJOR overhaul. I look at the slick interfaces for iPhones, Blackberry, even Windows and wonder why my Notes workspace hasn't evolved with the times. I mean the workspace background can't be changed, the database icons are still 32 pixels with 16 colors, there are no themes or skins to choose from, etc...etc...
IBM has been trying to forget about the workspace for many years now. Instead they should embrace the concept and revolutionize the Notes workspace. Make it a key selling feature of the client, instead of the ugly step-child. Come on IBM it's almost 2010 !!
If an idea is actually implemented, could that be indicated in the idea by the Lotus development team, or somewhere else, for the record? Ideajam is interesting, but to me it's only a place to dump ideas. It could become a knowledge base, when one can see that an idea has become reality, in what release, and how it's done (via links etc.)
