Сборная России покидает турнир со слезами на глазах, но с высоко поднятой головой. Сообщение с благодарностью всем болельщикам опубликовано в официальном аккаунте команды в Twitter. Сразу после матча появилось еще две важных публикации. О своем уходе из национальной команды заявил 33-летний полузащитник Александр Самедов. Он выступал за сборную последние семь лет и с тех пор провел в составе команды более 50 матчей. Также после напряженной игры о завершении футбольной карьеры заявил Сергей Игнашевич, которому через неделю исполнится 39.

Former Denmark and Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, speaking in Sochi shortly after Croatia’s win over host country Russia in a penalty shootout on Sunday, commended Russia’s performance in World Cup and gave his predictions as to who would win.
“I think they have everything to be proud of. They have created a couple of new world-class stars. People know about the Russian team now,” Schmeichel said, noting that nobody could have predicted Russia would progress so far in the tournament.
Talking about the performance individual players in the Russian team who “showed themselves to the world,” the goalkeeper commended Denis Cheryshev, Aleksandr Golovin, Igor Akinfeev, Mario Fernandes and Artem Dzyuba.
Mario Fernandes and Fyodor Smolov missed their penalties, which ultimately knocked Russia out of the World Cup.
“You all alone in the World, everyone in the World are watching you, the cameras are on,” he said.
The former goalkeeper believed that a final between Belgium and Croatia would be the “most realistic.”

The Uruguayan national team began their journey back home from Nizhny Novgorod airport on Sunday, following their World Cup quarter-final defeat by France.
Footage shows coach Oscar Tabarez, players Luis Suarez, Martin Caceres among others disembarking the bus and entering the airport alongside the entire team.
Striker Edinson Cavani was spotted signing autographs and posing for photos with fans before entering the airport.
Uruguay was defeated 0-2 by France in the quarter-final on Friday July 6.

The Russian national football team were given a heroic welcome back in Moscow on Sundayfollowing their World Cup quarterfinal match defeat to Croatia in Sochi.
We obviously wanted to go even further but, unfortunately, we didn't manage to. We will achieve better results in four years in Qatar,” Stanislav Cherchesov, coach of the Russian national football team, said.
“And at the end of the day we proved that Russia is a football country. Thank you so much,” footballer Artem Dzyuba said.

Croatian national team manager Zlatko Dalic refused to comment on the pro-Ukraine celebrations of some of his players after they beat Russia in the quarter-finals, at a press conference in Moscow on Sunday.
After the match, Croatian players Domagoj Vida and Ognjen Vukojevic published a video on social media where they dedicated the win to Ukraine, uttering «Glory to Ukraine,» which is reportedly a Ukrainian army and nationalist slogan.
When asked of this at the press conference, Dalic handed over the question to his translator, who said: «It's not a political message. We understand FIFA's position, we understand the way some media interpreted it differently, but they just wanted to say 'thanks' to the people, to their friends in Ukraine, because they spent a number of years of their careers in Ukraine.»
«Both of them [Vida and Ognjen Vukojevic] have friends in Russia, just as well, they speak Russian well, they feel great in Russia, and we really don't want to make any kind of a story behind this,» the translator concluded.
Earlier on Sunday, FIFA announced that Vida and Vukojevic would be given just a warning.
Croatia will meet England in the World Cup semifinals in Moscow on July 11.

Belgium’s Nacer Chadli said that his team is not “afraid of anyone” after the World Cup quarter-final victory over Brazil, speaking at a press conference in Dedovsk in the Moscow region on Sunday.

With Pavard on the pitch the French team are yet to lose a game in either junior or senior level, and the right-back said he hopes the 29-game run will last at least two more matches.
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud said that it will be «bizarre» having former French player Henry Thierry on Belgium's side as an assistant coach, but that their focus is on «the pitch and the game.»

Sweden national football team began the journey back home from Gelendzhik airport on Sunday a day after losing in the World Cup quarter-finals to England.
Some players were seen getting off the team bus wearing traditional Russian ushanka hats.
England defeated Sweden 2-0 in the quarterfinals in Samara on Saturday.
