Saturday evening saw the SIC head to the Swiss mountains for the stage in Einsiedeln, the men’s Matter team only started with 3 members as Kalon and Nelson were out injured.
The race was only 18km long so the pace was on from the start, after about 3km a 5 man break formed, Andres was there for the Matter boys along with Scott Arlidge, Jorge Cifuentes, Giovanni Conti and Christian Diazgranados.
The break worked together and were able to stay away from the chasing pack, Scott tried to attack at the bottom of the final hill but the breakaway group stayed together until the final sprint. Andres took the lead before the sprint, he opened up his sprint from about 250m from the line.
When he started his sprint he was able to open a gap from the rest of the group, he was able to hold this gap until the finish line where he claimed his first European victory. Scott was able to pass and sprint his way into second place while Christian was able to hold on to take out the third placement. In the sprint for the main pack, DJ lead out Peter for the sprint. Peter was able to sprint to win the main pack, this gave him the sixth placement for the race.
In the women’s race it came down to a sprint finish, it was a drag race between the Matter girls and the Bont girls. At the 200m to go mark the two teams where side by side at full sprint, Cecilia was able to get ahead of the rest of the girls, Liana continued her sprint with the other girls in behind. Cecilia continued to win the race, Liana was able to hold off a hard charging Kelly Martinez for the second and third placements. Natalia was able to finish in fourth position.

We have now arrived in Nantes and we’re staying at Morgane’s Grandmother’s (Mamy) house.
I haven’t been outside yet apart from cycling after Morgane’s Grandmother’s car through Nantes.
The really hairy part of yesteday took place in Paris. We needed to be at Montparnasse station at noon for our train to Nantes. We started packing Morgane’s uncle’s car with our luggage and soon realized that there was no way all of our stuff including the bikes- let alone our bodies- would fit in the car.
The mix of the typical sized small car in France paired with our high volume of luggage meant that our bikes and bodies could not fit in the car.
Morgane and I had to cycle after her uncle and our luggage as he drove swiftly through the streets of Paris to the train station.
We made it to the Montparnasse train station with time to spare. However despite our reciepts and confirmation #’s, our train reservation was not recorded in the computer system. We had to wait 5-hours for the next train to Nantes.
‘Mamy’ picked us up at the train station in Nantes. We got to follow Mamy’s car on our bikes through Nantes.
She insists on feeding us very well. We have big room, warm bed, a large garden, and the Tour de France live on French television.

Under the hottest conditions of the season the Suzhou leg of the WIC got started at 10am Sunday morning. The race started quite slow but even with the slow pace the skaters felt the tough conditions taking its toll on their bodies. A few attacks got the race started but soon after the start the winning break would go away and stay away until the finish.
A group of 7 guys, including DJ Nation, Max Presti, Fabio Francolini, Francesco Zangarini and Nicolas Zamudio worked together to open a winning gap. Once they were away, Max and DJ tried to break away from the group but were caught, DJ tried two more times to go solo but eventually was brought back. As DJ had been caught, Max and Nicolas counter attacked and were able to open a gap that would take them to the line. Max would go away from Nicolas to take a solo win while Nicolas was able to hold on for the second placement. There was a tight sprint for third as Fabio and DJ lunged at the line together, with Fabio taking the third place and DJ the fourth.
In the sprint finish for the main pack, Kalon lead out for Andres, Andres was able to finish second in the pack sprint. The Matter boys are finally finding some rhythm together under race conditions. They are looking forward to Zurich the fast finishing race.
Results 1st Max Presti 2nd Nicolas Zamudio 3rd Fabio Francolini 4th DJ Nation 5th Servin Widmer 6th Francesco Zangarini
