During the press conference, Queiroz commented on the disruption of Iran's preparations for the World Cup following the US sanctions.
He said, «Let our boys play football. They are just football players. Let them enjoy football. Just like all the other nations, all the other players in the world. They are not against anybody. They want to just express themselves and play football. And we are in this World Cup and under an umbrella of FIFA. The main value of FIFA is to put politics apart. This is not what is going on here. This is totally unfair to 23 boys. They just want to play football. And they showed today that they deserve to be treated like all the other players in the world.»
Earlier this week, US sportswear giant Nike withdrew the Iranian squad's supply of sports equipment. Last month, Greece and Kosovo also cancelled friendly matches with Iran.

Supporters watched with great anticipation with several even mounting the Terreiro do Paco Statue to get a better view.

Hundreds of fans thronged to central Barcelona on Friday to watch the debut of the Spanish team against Portugal in the FIFA World Cup 2018.
More than 1,500 people filled the stands to watch the highly-anticipated match play out, ending with a final 3-3 against Portugal.
In spite of the City Council of Barcelona refusing to allot public spaces for setting a screen, it was still possible to follow the match thanks to a private initiative of an association called 'Barcelona with the Selection'.

The national football team of France trained at Kazan Arena on Friday ahead of their first match against Australia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. A press conference took place after training session at Kazan Arena. There were a head coach French team Didier Deschamps and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Goalkeeper of France team Hugo Lloris explained that whilst the team has great ambitions for the tournament, they must remain grounded. «I am very happy to be able to play the on World Cup on Russian soil. Of course we have a lot of ambitions, but we have to demonstrate and prove ourselves in every match», he said.
France is in group C where it is scheduled to play against Australia, Peru, and Denmark.

A 100-kilogram cake topped with a “golden” football boot was presented to the renowned footballer by his fans from the Chechen Republic.

Spain held an open training session at the FC Krasnodar Academy on Saturday, following their 3-3 draw against Portugal in their World Cup opener the previous evening.
The draw with Portugal came after former Spanish footballer Fernando Hierro had taken over the team's head coach position, following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the competition.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a penalty after just three minutes when he was fouled by Real Madrid teammate Nacho.
However, many fans believe that Ronaldo fooled his Real Madrid teammate by diving to win the penalty.
During a press conference, Nacho commented on the incident saying: «The truth is that there was a contact. I touched Cristiano [Ronaldo], but my intention was to move my leg away. As I said, it's a very fast play, thus when the referee decides that there was contact, the VAR ratifies it. It is a difficult move for the defender and the referee.»
Nacho went on to score a sublime strike to put Spain into the lead, however, Ronaldo scored a 25-yard freekick with minutes left of the clock to rescue a point.
Earlier in the day, Iran defeated Morocco 1-0, meaning they top the group although Spain and Portugal will still be favourites to progress.

Crowds of Icelandic football fans gathered at Moscow's Zaryadye Park outside the Kremlin ahead of the World Cup match between Iceland and Argentina, Saturday.
Iceland's fans demonstrated their famous «Huh» chant complete with syncronised slow motion clap.
Commenting on the upcoming match, an Icelandic fan expressed hope for a 3-1 victory for Iceland. “Messi can have one goal,” he added.
Another fan said, “I think it’s so much propaganda, to be completely honest. I feel really safe here, I don’t feel like I’m in any danger, when I’m visiting the country there’re shouldn’t be [any danger]. I just think it’s amazing.»

Switzerland held their final training session at the Rostov Arena on Saturday, ahead of their opening World Cup match against Brazil on Sunday. Swiss manager Vladimir Petkovic held a presser shortly afterwards, where he said his team will have their say against every opponent they encounter.
«Certainly, [Brazil] is a good squad, a squad which matured very well in the last few years, which plays more European than before, and with its results it has shown that it deserves our utmost respect,» said Petkovic.
«We will try to control this match in our own way. And we're not there just to play a pleasant and entertaining match, rather we will try to win the game against every opponent,» he added.
Switzerland are in Group E alongside Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica.

International football fans got tattoos to commemorate the 2018 FIFA World Cup, in St. Petersburg on Saturday.
A group of four friends from Colombia and Brazil decided to get tattoos with a special design. The tattoo is in the shape of Russia and half-coloured in the Brazilian national flag while the rest is coloured with the Colombian tricolour.
One of the friends said that they decided to get the “same tattoo just to remember this trip.”

Australian fans in Melbourne couldn't hide their disappointment on Saturday, after their team lost 2:1 against France in the World Cup.
Many of the Aussie supporters were Irish having just seen their side beat Australia in the rugby.
The fans questioned whether the penalty that was given with the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) was correct to call, and they described the decision, using rather unsavoury language, as 'absolute bullshit'.
Antoine Griezmann went down in the penalty area in the 55th minute, which the match officials did not immediately award, however, on video review the spot kick was given and Griezmann cooly converted.
It was the first such decision taken with the use of VAR at a World Cup, marking an historic moment.
France now lead the group but face Denmark and Peru in the coming days.

Germany team coach Joachim Low and midfielder Julian Draxler gave a press conference in Moscow on Saturday ahead of World Cup match with Mexico.
Answering a question about Germany's chances, Low said: «I don't see this dream as a reality, perhaps a bit more realistic than being able to win against somebody in 7-1 semi-finals,» referring to Germany's triumph over Brazil in 2014.
«It was a great and beautiful day for Germany, but it won't be repeated. Just winning the match in semi-finals is already a challenge,» he added.
