The International Broadcast Centre (IBC) for the upcoming FIFA World Cup was opened in Moscow on Saturday, just days before the tournament kicks off.
Speaking at an opening ceremony, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that the IBC can be considered «the 13th official venue» since it will broadcast the matches to millions of people across the world.
Infantino also confirmed the introduction of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which is an inaugural implementation of the technology in a World Cup tournament.

Russia: Artists create Messi and Salah mosaics

A collective of Kazan-based artists have created perfectly detailed stone mosaic portraits of football stars Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah ahead of the World Cup.
On a visit to Anna Solnechnaya's studio in Kazan on Sunday, the artist explained the inspiration behind the idea.
«We made such interesting portraits with our team, art objects made of stone, in order to surprise people and show our city. We want [fans] to find something interesting to remember,» she said.
The pieces — which take about two months to create — are made of almost 60kg (136.7lb) of sea pebbles.
The artists believe that through the power of social media and the football stars will be able to see their own mosaic.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup takes place at 12 stadiums in 11 Russian cities from June 14 to July 15.
