This morning I rang the Co-Op bank to ask about how I close my account with them. As expected I had to write a letter on headed paper to their "Accounts Closure Team". The letter contained the usual stuff they needed to know and the following, which they didn't need to know, but I felt they ought to:
For the record I am closing my account with you purely because of the inexcusable state of your online business banking. It got to the point where it was beyond a joke. Although moving my account has taken up more of my time than I care to think about, I'm hoping that time will be saved in the future as I won't need to battle against the odds to do my day-to-day banking.
Your online business banking is quite possibly the worst online application I have ever used! And I use a lot.
If you're wondering why, it's something I mentioned recently. Since posting that I was contacted by another blogger and co-op customer who has posted on the topic quite a bit. He'd been in touch with the BBC Radio 4's Money Box programme who went on to air a feature about it. I'd offered the reporter from the Beeb some sound-bites, but they didn't, err, bite. This kind of thing can only happen on the internet.
The phone call this morning, along with writing the letter, finding the headed paper and messing about with the printer trays has taken up all of my morning so far and it's gone 10AM. Still got to walk to the post box too!
While it's given me great satisfaction closing the Co-op account it's taken up a lot of my time. Nothing is ever as simple as you'd think it should be! It's taken 3 weeks to get from applying for a new account to writing the letter to the close the old one and I've lost count of the number of phone calls I've made/received. And then there was the afternoon I spent cycling to and from my local HSBC with all the paperwork they needed. I'd say it's taken a whole day of my time to move bank account. If not more.
My hope is that the time spent moving will pay back in the future. The Co-op bank's system wouldn't allow you to setup a Standing Order, so, every month, I had to remember to go in and create three new payment requests. With HSBC I've already setup the orders and have nothing much to do each month now. Not only that but the HSBC's system is blazingly fast (in comparison) and a pleasure to use.
Good riddance co-op. I didn't want it to come to this, but your empty promises of change came to nothing.
If the file is not empty, then will attempt to open the folder on the specified server, with the file name should be displayed in the field "File name" dialog.
If the folder is not found, then an attempt should be made the opening of the parent folder. If the path fully does not exist, then the server must be open, just as it opens now.
4. It would be good to set multipleSelection (for this can be used in this case an unused parameter choiceList/values), and depending on this to display the "Open" button or "Select". If omit this parameter, then display the both buttons (as is now).
EDITED:
I am aware that a much better solution would be to create a separate method ChooseDatabase; do not understand why the engineers IBM went to add type=13 is in the method Prompt, if the choice of database is essentially (and parameters!) is much closer to the OpenFileDialog, than Prompt ... But something must be done about this, because the ability to customize the displayed window, in my opinion, is culture.
We are parsing a CSV file we obtain from customer. Now, when importing data, we do Trim / FullTrim on each parameter. Where that kicks us is as apparently customer is now building that CSV from XML and instead of spaces, there are   characters in their data. These are non-breakable spaces in Unicode. And ofc Trim / FullTrim don't cut them off.
How about making Trim / FullTrim function to trim all spaces, not just regular one? Oh, and triming tabs would be great as well.
If a database refreshes/replaces its design from its master template then in each separate design element the property "Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify" or "Inherit from the design template:" can prevent that this element is inherited.
While this functionality is intended and usefull in many situations, most of the time you want to have EXACT copies of of the design from your template. The current setting makes it difficult to guarantee that this is the case for many databases. You would need to manually check all design elements if none of it has a property set which prevents a refresh.
Therefore it would be nice to have an additional database property "Ignore design refresh exceptions".If this property would be checked, then the designer-task (or a manual design refresh/replace) would completely replace all the design elements from the template to the db and removing or overwriting any existing design-element even it if had the property "Prohibit ..." or "Inherit from ..." set.
This would give a developer or admin more confidence that after he has done a design refresh/replace on an old database, that really ALL his changes are now in place.
In the Lotus Domino Designer tab will appear on "Problems", in which displayed records of errors.
I propose (for LotusScript) at DoubleClick on records not to display the source code of the element of design in XML, but open the corresponding element of the design, automaticaly finding the wrong area code and jump straight to the line, containing the error.
Code in the form of XML can be open on RightClick-menu.
With each new release of Notes I would like to see the "What's New" section of the help documentation updated with a COMPLETE list of all the new programming features that have been added in that release. I shouldn't need to scour through all the documentation or wait for another blogger to blog about a new feature before i find out!
I always work on locale replicas. So it would be great if there was a new option that saved the current design and then replicated it to the last selected server I used in one action. It would probably help me stave off a repetitive strain injury due to the inordinate amount of small mouse movements a simple replication takes - well at least for a few more years.
It would be nice when there was a function that allows you to remove all workspace icons that refer to a selected server on the current workspace page are removed by a single function.
As a developer I always work on local replica's. This implies that there are workspace icons that refer to the server replica of the databases. When you need to disconnect form that server you have to remove these icons one-by-one. And moreover, normally you have the local version active. So you have to select the server first and then remove the icon from the workspace.
I am aware that you could set that icons pointing to replica's are not stacked, but that would mess up the current layout on your workspace.
Wouldn't it be nice when you could use keystrokes to select a workspace icon and then remove it? When you need to remove several icons at once (e.g. icons that refer to a server) you need to use the mouse and the mousekeys to often.
Propose add to "RALS" window a button for export the results (errors) in HTML or any other format (edited: Dirk proposed to write in log.nsf). This format should support the opening of a design element (the transition to an error) in Lotus Domino Designer by clicking on the record the error.
It will be convenient (now to remember all the places of errors have to do PrintScreen and close the window RALS) and is useful because it gives an opportunity to save reports.
Alternative variant: make RALS under a new Eclipse-IDE with the ability to save the results too.
I propose for Sub Actions menu to use the same style (background color, borders and font), which is set in the properties of Action Bar. Now for Sub Actions menu used "system" style (from the operating system), even when the properties of the Action Bar indicated "Use database settings" or "Don't inherit operation system theme"; contrast awful - it's can look at an example Sub Actions views in the mailbox, if operating system to determine style "Classical".

After you upgrade the Domino server to version 8.5 it does not load HTTP. You see error messages. If you disable JVM using the command "HTTPDisableJVM=1" and then load HTTP it will load fine but as soon as you enable JVM it again fails to load. In this case the customer's install was incorrect. Customer renamed the JVM and jvm5 folders in the Domino program directory and then reinstalled 8.5 in order to resolve the issue.
