Здравствуйте уважаемые Лотусисты.

Много дифирамбов уже спето использованию Java при создании лотусиных приложений.

Я так понимаю, что использование Java при разработке приложений даёт очень большое преимущество, к примеру при создании какого нибудь текстового
отчёта на клиенте без установленного на компе Офиса.. использвание JDBC как более стабильной технологии... или.. в общем куча всего мне ещё не постижимого)
Ну в общем это всё лирика...


Дизайнер у меня 7, версия севрера 7.0.3

Хочу сделать простейшее действие на яве в целях самообучения, которое с помощью Lotus Script делается на раз-два:

- на основе простого текстового структурированного файла формировать новые документы.

Скачал Eclipse, поставил его на свою машинку, запустил и потерялся=))
Что создавать, как отлаживать в связке с лотусом?!!

Дело в том что спросить мне не у кого поэтому обращаюсь к вам,
коллеги Лотусисты, если можно на примере конкретной задачи (на основе простого текстового структурированного файла формировать новые документы в Лотусе.)
расскажите пожалуйста подробнее как вы работаете с Ява кодом, отлаживаете его в связке с Лотусом, переносите ??
Отлаживаете в Eclipse? т.е. из Eclipse можно запустить по сути дела написанного агента который будет обращаться к лотусовой базе и создавать там документы?
Что создавать в Eclipse для создания подобного агента (Project, Java Project, Package.... )?
по каким учебным материалам лучше осваивать Java, по каким осваивали его вы ?(если можно ссылки)

Мне не нужен непосредственно код агента, хотелось бы понять с чего начать, как подступиться к задаче, научиться.





Есть ли какие-нибудь аналоги CVS или Subversion для Lotus?
Придется вам связываться с разработчиком этой базы или самому разбираться как написана эта база (если дизайн конечно открыт).

Подскажите пожалуйста, можно ли програмно заставить пользователя заставит сменить пароль в Лотус при следующей авторизации в Лотусе? Если можно то как?

Если в адресной книге документ сервера LotusAcme/Acme есть, то он все равно будет пробовать резолвить LotusAcme?
насколько я понимаю - да. но тут мне тоже многое непонятно
IMHO не все так просто.
Он еще смотрит в Connection для серверов и оттуда берет ip или имя, которое и резолвит.
А вот если Connection нет для сервера, то похоже берет имя из названия сервера.
Могу ошибаться.
да-да. совершенно верно. от документы connection тоже принимаются во внимание

вообще говоря, идеально было бы иметь детальную схему, как происходит сие действо.
это позволило бы гораздо быстрее разбираться в проблемах

While looking at buying a new Nissan recently I've been meaning to check the current ownership of nissan.com. I've been visiting nissan.co.uk a lot of late but still remember the story of Mr Nissan and his fight to retain ownership of the nissam.com domain that he has every right to. Patrick Picard upgraded some of his Domino servers to 8.5.1 last week and has started moving some users from 7.0.3 to 8.5.1. So far he seems to be having a lot of issues. He's looking for some help on this one.

My mum comes over two days a week to look after the kiddies while Karen is at work. This morning she brought some scrap paper for them to doodle on. Turned out to be the letter-heads from the company I formed before Rockall, which was called Epsilon IT Systems. Not seen this for about 10+ years.

It makes me smile and cringe at the same time. What's with the CLP logo? What's with the logo design! It was just a company to use while I was contracting. Why did I agonise over the name so much!? I chose Epsilon as I liked the sound of the word and it harks back to my engineering degree background. The IT Systems bit came about there was already a company called Epsilon and one called Epsilon IT. Could just as well called it Qwedjsdsere ltd for all it mattered.

It must just have been the fact I was the director of a company (hey, it says so above the CLP logo ;-) that went to my head a bit. There really was no need for any business stationary. Kept mum and dad supplied with scrap paper for the last ten years though. Although, apparently, they're about to run out. Might have another 500 sheets of A4 for them though, as it's turned out I still don't really need letter-header paper even now I'm the director of a "proper" company.

Anyway, just thought it funny that mum brought this over in the same week I'd been talking about my new invoice design, so I thought I'd share it here.

IMG_3983Karen hates the fact I won't tell her the password to my computer. There's no reason why I shouldn't really, as I have nothing to hide. Although, that said, this picture of the kitty for the toddler's playgroup Karen is in charge of might give you an idea why I won't.

The main reason I don't tell her is that it stops her being able to unlock my PC while I'm not there and use my Windows account for her own (doing untold damage in the process). She has her own /ROCKALL account and can switch user to use that instead.

But, on a serious note, there is a good argument for her knowing the password; what if I died!?

In our house it's me that "controls" all the finances and pays all the bills etc. Karen doesn't even know the login for our joint bank account.

What worries Karen (and me too since she brought it up) is not knowing what she'd do in the event of my demise. Where are the savings? Who's my pension with? Where are my ISAs? What about the childrens' CTFs? Etc. What I've been planning on doing is putting together some kind of "In the Event of Emergency" envelope that contains everything she needs to know. Maybe I/we should write a will too?

On a less serious note, what about this site? Wonder what would happen if I died. Who would let you know so you could start mourning the loss. Back to a more serious note, who would let me customers know? Karen would need access to my email account so she could let them know. Maybe she could post an obituary here too. Although that really would be pushing it.

Is this something any of you have given any thought to and/or have an action plan for in your household?

Idea:
I would like to see the Rich Text editor in the Notes client able to accept HTML in much the same way as many Web rich text editors do via a HTML toggle.  I can already paste html from a Web site into the editor so it seems to already understand something about HTML.
My suggestion would be to add HTML as an option to RichTextLite fields, add a button to toggle HTML mode off/on.
 
Of course this will likely exposes some of the known issues with fidelity between CD and HTML but we will have to solve this eventually if XPages and its Web-based editor generate content for NSFs that are shared with the Notes client.

Idea:
Currently (in version 7.0) the notes:// protocol function ?openform is not dependable.  There are times when a user will get an error that the design element is not found, even if the form is in the database.  (It apparently has something to do with if the form was in the database the last time it was opened from the client.)  That is certainly NOT expected behavior.  One would expect, if the form exists, it would be found, and opened.

Idea:
You can only export as PDF, I would love to be able to take my presentations, export as a Symphony Document or better as a Notes document, so I can use them as a basis for blog or wiki entry.
 
Currently you have to copy & paste the text, do a lot of formating clean up , then copy each image.
 
Let is save as a document in the notes format, were the top of the page is the presentation and the bottom is the notes for that presentaiton.
 
Then I could easily take my Lotusphere or Conference presentation and make them into blog or wiki entries.

Wouldn't it be great if users could chose to fix/secure this part of their screen/pane or not...

Idea:
Lotus market Quickr as a great solution that run's under different browser types like IE, Mozilla and Safari
However the user experience running under the different browser is completely different. The user experience is great with IE because it uses ActiveX. The User experience expectations in Mozilla and Safari are the same however there are a lot of differences.
My suggestion would be that Quickr recognises automatically  the browser technology that is used and provides based on the browser being used a very intuitive user experience for the vanilla templates that come out to the box with Quickr.
The user is being guided intuitively through all the options that are provided for that specific browser. Currently, in my experience, it's not intuitive.
The user experiences are managed in the documentation of Quickr.
