I remember hearing a year or two ago that there was talk of replacing the admin client with one or more DB's (nor applicaiotns) to do all Domino admin functions thru. This would solve multiple problems all at once. The biggest would be the constant request for an admin client on Linux or MAC, no need anymore. Also, it would mean one less piece of software for IBM to maintain, clients to install, etc. An awful lot of admin tasks can already be done this way. Please IBM, finish the job!!!!!!

Since I started programming with SSJS the one method I find myself using more than any other is the NotesDocument.getItemValueString() or NotesXSPDocument.getItemValueString() method. This is such a powerful method as it allows me to bypass the need to first validate if the field exists in the document (returns blank string) or convert arrays/non-string values into a string. I know IBM are not looking to make major enhancements to LotusScript at this time but this one addition would be a great addition to simplify code as well as provide consistency between LS and SSJS code.
Back in 2006 I developed some website plugins for OpenNTF.
Since the 'action' is now not only in the Projects area but also in the Apache and GPL Catalogs I added new categories, we now have: Most active projects, Most downloaded projects, Most recent ...
Maybe this Idea has been posted before (in that case I am sorry), but I would really like to see the possibility to extend or subclass the existing Notes classes. It would solve many Ideas that are already posted here. There are so many functions that are not offered by the Designer, but that are very usefull and could be implemented with this Idea.
So even when this is a duplicate Idea, it might be helpful to bring this once more at the attention of IBM. I cannot imagine that it would be that difficult to implement in the core code. Or is this another reason to make the core code available to us (or some certified developers)?
It is clear to me that one of the reasons that many of the good Ideas posted here will not be implemented due to the lack of resources at IBM.
So I would like to know your feeling about the following:
Could we setup a (small) group of (senior) developers that will help IBM with the implementation of some much wanted Ideas? I know that there are many excellent developers in the Notes community, that are willing to participate in this. There are enough Ideas that will not take too much time to implement and that could very well be designed by non-IBM employees. Is this not what the Open-Source community is all about?
We must, of course, think of a way to assure the quality of the work done, but again, it has been done before.
There would also be found a solution for the intellectual ownership of the core code.
That this Idea is feasible can be shown by the following examples:
1) I have started (but not finished) the implementation of a multiple signature in the mail-template
2) I am working on a version of NotesPeek that will handle the newer Notes releases
3) I modified the mail-template so that orphan mail-rules can be removed
4) I modified the Inbox in the mail-template so that is shows mails read by others than the owner of the mail-file (useful for boss-secretary mail-files), without having to add a hidden attribute to each document

This technote provides extensive information on how to troubleshoot problems with the Domino and Notes "Windows single sign-on for Web clients" feature. This feature enables you can set up an IBM Lotus Domino Web server to honor Windows users' Active Directory logon credentials. Users who are logged on to the Active Directory domain can open applications on the server from a browser without being prompted for a Domino HTTP password.
Simplified Chinese (GB18030) characters may not display properly in IBM Lotus Notes running on Windows XP. To enable GB18030 support on a Microsoft Windows XP client, do the following: 1. Inst
It has been observed in Domino 8.5 and Domino 8.5.1 where Domino Server performance is effected when Platform Statistics is enabled. We have seen cases of High CPU Utilization along with server performance hangs where users cannot connect.
A Lotus Domino 8.5 server exhibits high CPU usage which deads to slowdowns if the Directory contains a large number of groups there is a large number of users in those groups.
