The object of the international ‘Smart Cities’ Exhibition and Conference is the sustainable urban development and it is focused on the South-East European market.

Today, 80 % of the Europeans live in cities. They occupy only about 2% of the land area, but they consume 75% of resources and emit 80% CO2. It is really important to change the way we cosume and produce. The intelligent vision of the cities can be a reality through wider introduction of advanced solutions.
>From 5th to 7th March 2014 the ‘Smart Cities’ event was held in Sofia as a part of the annual South-East European Eco Forum & Exhibitions ('Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy' (EE & RE), ‘Save the Planet’ (waste management and recycling), Smart Cities and ‘LiftBalkans’ (elevators and escalators).
‘Smart Cities’ 2014 has been realized thanks to the key stakeholders in urban development. It showed that it is a time for scale-up intelligent solutions in buildings, in transport and energy sector for better quality of life and more clean environment. Advanced technologies were showcased in the field of mobility, energy management and smart grids, building management and automation systems, ICT & telecommunications, telemetry and telematics, energy-saving lighting. Speakers from European
institutions and well-known companies presented different topics related to legislation and technology development.
