them on 3959.87 in May '02; in April '03 on 3960.32; in Feb '04 on
3960.89

0001 - Tentative; very weak and noisy signal with man in Spanish with
what sounded like religious talk (way too poor to really understand 
though) followed by a very beautifool llanera tune, then an ID with 
mention of "...onda corta..." (I have it on tape, but I did lost the
tape connector for encoding it in RealAudio unfortunatly) followed by a
different sounding folkloric song, then incomprehensible talk. Knowing
that llanera music wich is a folkloric kind of music with lots oh harp,
is made only in Venezuela and eastern Colombia, I can rule out Radio
Parinacota (wich I heard once during a mini-DXpedition to =CEle-Bizard
with only talk content) and Emisora Ciudad de Montevideo.

could not get any clear copy from 0500+.

Folk Box-very good folk/opera music. SINPO 35433. Fair volume, but a lot of fading
out.

16 Dec, the final part of R.Romania Intl. French Service heard on 7100
kHz. Tuned in at 0618, tx went off at 0626, after reading of schedule,
playing some music and adding a couple of IS. SINPO 34433.

Radio amateurs usually consider operation of high-power txers on this border
frequency as intrusion. And I recall that at the very start of this season,
RRI already used 7100 kHz for Russian broadcast at 1600-1700, but then was
persuaded to leave it. There is no mention of 7100 kHz in schedule at
www.rri.ro, though. (Signal No.136 - Dmitry Mezin, Kazan, Russia)

The next day 7100 kHz was empty at 0600-0630, while RRI's French Service
operated 7160 and 7180 kHz, i.e. in full accordance with the schedule.
Yesterday's transmission on 7100 kHz might probably be their tuning error.

Broadcasters using frequencies like this are some kind of a problem for
hams, not forgetting that the amateur band on 40 metres is slowly expanding
to 7200 kHz, in U.K. this year, in many countries in the coming years. North
America has the same problem on 80-75 metre band as their 3500 kHz ham band
is wider there. The broadcasting bandwidth is usually more or less 10 kHz
and therefore this "border" frequency, 7100 (future 7200) kHz, should be
totally "silenced".

7100 kHz minus 5 kHz definitely makes splashes to ham LSB reception on, say,
7097 kHz.

FEBA R. (pres.)  9885 khz  1727-1757  Poor copy, vern used
w/alternating talk and Af style mx.  IS played once @ 1757 then to s/off.
IS matches FEBA IS used from Seychelles, I could not copy a clear ID so I
will call this logging tentative for now. Is this a relatively new freq and
transmitter for FEBA (Kigali)?

NatAnth, progr in Korean. On 2850 kHz at same time another progr in Korean.

of VoKOR.

Sudan R. Service 15530 khz.  1542-1659  Just caught another ID
in EE @1659 before apparent s/off, but I noticed @1546 that there was an
apparent s/off, only to start up again @ 1549 w/an EE studio anncr.  From
1549-1659, mostly alternating talk and mx, occasional EE used, but mostly
vern.  Interviews, talks, etc.  Fair to good signal and copy overall.

1800-2200  7555 changes to 5840 kHz, in order to avoid splashes from a
digital signal on 7557 kHz and R.Farda on 7550 kHz.

Мешал довольно сильный сигнал "Маяка" из Волгограда на соседней 810 кГц.
Песня до 15.58, потом долгая пауза, какое-то объявление, опять пауза. В
16.00 ID и время "Данашер Бакы, саат ерме бир". Т.е. время 21 час - так мне,
во всяком случае, показалось; хотя в Азербайджане вроде бы зимой время
UTC+4? Потом начались последние известия на азербайджанском.

18.06        576 кГц (SIO: 454) - "Маяк" (или Иркутск, или Ояш.. х.з.)
18.08        639 кГц (SIO: 454) - "Радио России" (Омск, ...с 18.10 до 18.12
была омская реклама, объявили тлф. рекламной службы 25-17-24)

There were auroral conditions last night here in Montreal. The evening started
relatively well. At 5:53 PM EDT (2253 UTC) for 2 or 3 seconds, I had salsa music
on 1110 kHz mixing with WBT and an unID country domestic, probably Radio Carupano
(YVQT). Also, I got Cuba-600 (// 5025 wich peaked to local-like on 2 occasions,
on my Sangean 818 with the 20 meters random wire !. The first time Rebelde-5025
was local-like for about 3 seconds, then faded down IMMEDIATLY to poor; this
extremely rapid fading is certainly
a sign of solar disturbance) and Turks and Caicos-530. However after 7:30 PM
EDT (1930 EDT, 0030 UTC) a huge amount of powerline noises appeared and maked
difficult to listen even semi-local WVMT-620 out of Burlington, VT wich is excellent
here. Only the urban quality signals weren't subject to the powerline QRM, of
course. This noise was audible even in the higher place I could place my Sanyo
radio. On 600, only Cuba was audible, not WICC or CKAT !

NatAnthem, ID in Ru, and translation in En: "Radiostation Chechenia Free,
from 6 to 24 hrs (0300-2100 UT) comes on MW 594 and LW 171 kHz".

At 0250 UT on LW 252 and MW 567 R Rossii, same from 0300 UT on 567, SW 5925
and 6150[!] kHz. Latter is new freq, but NOT announced.

Conforming with the agreement signed in 2003 between Lithuanian and Russian 
authorities, the transmission time of the Bolshakovo transmitter 
(Kaliningrad oblast) on 1386 was reduced from 8h to 4h/d on 1 January. The 
new operational time (with Voice of Russia relays), valid throughout 2005, 
is 1600-2000 UTC (one hour earlier during summer months due to DST). On 1 
January 2006, the time will be reduced to 2h/daily; this schedule will be 
valid until 1 November 2007 when this tx is required to close down.

MW already are progrs of "Radio Romania Actualitati", "Antena Satelor"
(village antena translation), and various local/regional programs.

"Radio Romania Cultural" is on FM only; except Sun's Church progr 0800-1000
UT on FM 89.5, \\ MW 531 630[northeast tx] and maby more freqs. 558 kHz
formerly with "Radio Oltenia Craiova" program, now is very strong here with
RRActualitati. [?one of the new US-made/aid Harris txs?, wb.]

7-й Российский DX-конкурс будет проходить с 18 по 28 февраля 2005 
года. Как и в прошлом году, он состоит из трех частей. Части 1 и 2 
посвящены практическому приему радиостанций из России, стран бывшего 
СССР и оговоренных в условиях регионов мира. Засчитываются 
радиовещательные станции, работающие в диапазоне от 150 до 30000 кГц. 
Минимальное время приема одной станции — 15 минут. Чем дальше 
радиопередатчик находится от вас, тем больше очков за него будет 
начислено. В отчете необходимо указать дату, время (UTC), частоту, 
оценку SINPO и содержание принятой передачи.

Часть 3 — это викторина с вариантами ответов; здесь вы имеете шанс 
показать свое знание теории DX-инга, истории радиовещания и его 
сегодняшнего дня.

Оплата участия — символическая; она будет потрачена на рассылку 
участникам дипломов и призов.

Pacific Asian Log, Seventh Edition
Hello Everyone

I've just completed the seventh edition of the Pacific Asian Log (PAL).  
It's been updated through January 2005.  As usual, this edition has many 
additions and changes. In particular, there are many new listings for 
China and the Australian expanded band.

The log now lists more than 4000 medium and long wave stations in Asia 
and the Pacific (from Afghanistan to Alaska).  It includes frequency, 
callsign, location, power, schedules, and other information for each 
station.

The log is available in pdf format sorted by country or frequency.  You 
can download it at no cost from  my website http://www.qsl.net/n7ecj   
This time there are three options: by frequency, by country, 
(approximately 800 kb, 132 pages each), or a combined listing (1.3 MB,
