The RF Government has informed about intention of the country not to participate in the Agreement on carrying out of coordinated policy in the sphere of natural gas transit

the Direction N 97-r of February 1, 2008 (document is in
Russian), the Government of the Russian Federation has made
the decision on direction of notification about intention of
the country not to participate in
the Agreement on carrying out of coordinated policy in the sphere
of natural gas transit (document is in Russian) assigned
in Moscow city as on November 3. 1995. The RF Ministry of Foreign
Affairs has been entrusted to notify the executive committee
of the Commonwealth of Independent States on made decision.
In accordance with frequent cases of illegal use of natural
gas delivered by transit through territories of certain of the
countries not securing about timely settlements for transit
and consumption of natural gas, lobbying by separate politicians
of own interests including private in contrast to interests
of their own counties, directivity of carrying out of westernized
policy oriented to aspiration for rearrangement of resources
in possession of our country, at that being not embarrassed
in choice of methods and means, the decision made by RF Government
was dictated first of all by striving for protection of sovereignty
and interests of the Russian Federation well-defined in carrying
out of the consecutive state foreign and internal policy.
Of course, the refusal in participation in
the Agreement does not mean that the Russian Federation
will not supply gas in these countries, but it will do it by
means of bilateral agreements probably, every time with determination
of terms of gas supply for every specific country.
