Мы формируем новый стиль и новое наполнение журнала. Если вам не все равно, что вы будете получать в ближайшее время, предлагаем поделиться с нами вашими идеями, сомнениями, мнениями, впечатлениями, пожеланиями, критикой, предложениями и бла, бла, бла, как говорят у них на Альбионе (blah, blah, blah). VOCABULARY
Все приведенные словосочетания используются в современном английском языке:
1. take your time! — не спешите! Говорят, например, в ответ на вопрос: "Когда вернуть долг?"
2. with regard to - относительно, в отношении.
Amsterdam, which has many similarities to St.Petersburg and on which Peter the Great had intended to model his city, is in a similar position with regard to floods. - Амстердам, который имеет много общего с Петербургом и по которому Петр Первый намеревался строить свой город, находится в подобном положении в отношении наводнений.
3. I'm just kidding. - Я просто шучу.
4. like a fog - как туман. Употребляется в прямом и переносном значении:
Depression descends like a fog on a person.
Her spirit for life was near death from emotional abuse, but it was difficult to identify because abuse was like a fog clouding rational thought.
5. shut up - употребляется в значении "замолчи" (звучит грубовато).
6. I'll do it - я сделаю это. Ударение может быть на I (САМ сделаю) или на do (я СДЕЛАЮ).
7. Join us! - присоединяйтесь к нам!

For thousands of years, people have wanted to fly like birds.

Over 500 years ago, the Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci made drawings of human-powered flying machines called ornithopters.

In 1783, French brothers, Jacques and Joseph Montgolfier, built the first hot-air balloon. It was made out of linen and paper and the air inside was heated by a huge fire on the ground.

Before they let people on their balloon, the Montgolfier brothers tested it by using a sheep, a hen, and a duck.

During the late 1800s, the German inventor Otto Lilienthal built several gliders, many of which were able to fly successfully.

In the early days of flying, wingwalking was a common way of entertaining people at airshows. A person would walk out onto the wing and wave at the crowds as the planes flew by.

During World War II, people built large planes that carried bombs to drop on enemy positions.

The first bicycles appeared over 200 years ago. Since then, bicycles have become very popular and have been built in many shapes and sizes, including penny-farthings, racing bikes, and mountain bikes.

In the days before engines, people had to rely on the wind to push boats along.

GRAMMAR
Help (to) do

"You can say 'help to do' or 'help do' (infinitive with or without to):
Everybody helped to clean up after the party. or Everybody helped clean up...
Can you help me to move this table or Can you help me move ..."¹

Can't help

"There is also an expression 'can't/couldn't help doing something'. = I can't stop myself from doing it:
I don't like him but he has a lot of problems. I can't help feeling sorry for him.
She tried to be serious but she couldn't help laughing. (=she couldn't stop herself from laughing).
I'm sorry I'm so nervous. I can't help it. (= I can't help being nervous)."¹
