Есть неплохое решение. Справочники лучше делать как документы. Т.е. создается форма документа с полями и соответствующий один или несколько видов. А затем из этих видов выбирать соответствующую информацию. Что это дает. Во-первых, справочник может...

I'm starting to worry about my log.nsf file. I've never really paid much attention to this thing, but I recently did a scan for big files on my server and discovered log.nsf was more than 11 gigabytes!
We've been running the server for a long time, but I just don't feel good about a log file that size. Shouldn't the server be purging the file on a pretty regular basis?
Jelani is right. Your log.nsf file should never be that large. In fact, your log file should be purged on a very regular basis.
Log file purging is generally managed by the "Log=" parameter in Notes.ini. A few weeks ago, we gave a Site of the Month award to lntoolbox.com's .ini reference and today, I'm making use of it to answer Jelani's question.
According to the .ini reference, the format for the "Log=" parameter is:
The fourth parameter, "days", is what's important here. Most often, you'll see that set to 7, for 7 days. Sometimes, you'll see it set to 30. But either way, you shouldn't have more than about 30 days in your log.nsf file.
So, the first thing to do is check your Notes.ini and see if somehow that parameter is inflated, for example, if it says something like 365 or even 20000. If so, then your log isn't being purged because Notes has been told not to purge it.
By the way, if it turns out you don't have a "Log=" parameter, that doesn't mean the log file is allowed to grow. The default setting for log file purging is 7 days, so if you have no "Log=" at all, 7 days is the assumed value.
One thing to note is that Notes doesn't purge the entire log at once. According to IBM:
Purging is done at one-third of the purge interval time. (i.e. If the interval is set to 30, then every 10 days, all deletion stubs older than 30 days are purged from the database)
It's also possible that the "Log=" parameter is being ignored in Notes.ini. There was a problem in Domino 6.0, 6.5, and 7.0 where Domino ignored the parameter under certain circumstances. I honestly don't know if the problem still exists in current releases, but I haven't seen any mention of it, so it might have been fixed.
There is a workaround. Find the Replication->Space Savers tab and look for the checkbox "Remove documents not modified in the last N days". Check it. This should help you get around the problem.
Good luck!

Sorry about the recent silence. Been busy trying to tie things up before the year's out. Before I sign off for Christmas I just wanted to wish you all a merry one and to update anybody who's interested on a couple of the things I've talked about of recent.
New Car Arrived
One of the things that has pre-occupied me over the last couple of months has been buying a new car. It arrived last week and we love it. Despite it being a "cheap" car (it's no Audi Q7!) it feels lovely to drive and, although it doesn't have all the mod-cons, it does have a lot more than the 8 year old Audi A4 it's replacing.
Most of the things it has are the things you can live without until you have them -- automatic headlights and wipers, rear parking sensors, bluetooth on the stereo etc. Having had them for a week I don't think I could go back to not having them though!
All in all it's a great car and I have no regrets at all. The only problem is I just want to go for a drive all the time, whereas I normally try and avoid using the car unless it's essential to.
Thanks to those who helped me choose a petrol over a diesel by the way!
ASP.NET
Having played a little with ASP.NET recently I soon realised I just don't have the time to learn it the way I traditionally like to learn things - by diving in and tearing other stuff apart. Instead I have arranged for some one-on-one tuition.
Karen's friend's husband is an ASP.NET developer who also runs his own company here in Nottingham. I went for lunch with him last week and have arranged to buy a day of his time in January. The plan is he comes to sit with me at Rockall HQ and help me get familiar with all the fundamentals of ASP.NET development and deployment. Will let you know how that goes. Paying for training is something of a foreign concept for me, but I'm hoping it will pay in the long run.
I'm excited about 2010 being a new decade and potentially a new start.
Anyway, hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year whatever you're up to. It's cold here. There's snow on the ground, Baileys in the fridge and a log fire burning. It all feels very festive.
I'll leave you with a video of Ben 10 Felix 3 morphing in to "bonfire man".
Here's hoping the "ben den skate bore" he asked Santa for last week on a visit to his grotto gets delivered in time. I don't want to see the monster he'll turn in to if not...

Mr. Miller's blog entry yesterday made it dawn on me that, even after all the discussion about how confusing it is to have 6 virtually identical Lotus Notes/Symphony desktop icons, the main icons are not going to be changed.
IBM/Lotus - please add appropriate color to the desktop icons. Branding is good, confusing arrays of icons are not....!
Presently the only way to import an attachment into a richtext field using LotusScript is using the foreground NotesUIDocument.Import method. Like many foreground methods this is messy as it requires the document to be open on the user's screen, can be interupted via keystrokes, causes the imported text to appear on the screen, cannot run as an agent on a server etc. I would like to see the same Import capability added to the NotesDocument class so that it can operate with all the benefits of a background class..
Each year one of the popular sessions at Lotusphere is "Ask The Developers" where members of the Notes development community get the opportunity to ask questions of IBM developers about their plans for the Notes Development Platform. Rather than waiting for a once a year chance to ask a limited number of questions (in which IBM have little chance to prepare a response) I think it would be great if a forum could be set up in which questions and answers of this type could be submissted all year round to keep the Notes development community better informed on what is happening. This perhaps could be best done using a tool such as IQJam.

Many users appear to be running 8x and above on machines with limited memory. 1Gig.... Needless to say Notes is performing slowly for them and they don't like it. These users do not know about basic mode. Something in the software should check the memory and if it's determined to be low enough to effect performance - maybe anything under 2 gigs, then there should be at least an information screen advising about basic mode.
Better yet may be to give them a screen that would set the client to launch in Basic mode. Maybe have it changeable via a preference. Not many users will be savvy enough to add an ini setting or modify the icon with a switch.
When roaming users launch Lotus Notes and log in with old passwords, they can choose to skip changing passwords when prompted. Normally, Notes shuts down as a result. However, the shutdown is not enforced because background replication was activated during Notes startup.
Domino over IIOP allows Java applets/applications to access Domino data remotely using CORBA. This task allows Domino and the browser client to use the Domino Object Request Broker (ORB) server program. The Domino ORB processes the applet requests and transmits the information to the browser client to communicate.
Users are receiving a prompt to accept changes to their ECL when a security policy is pushed down. The changes to the policy should not have required user intervention.
Notes user denied access to Domino server after changing password when the user's Notes ID file is stored in an ID vault and the number of previous passwords exceeds the password history setting. The user becomes instantly locked out and cannot access the servers in the domain that have password checking enabled. The error message received is "You have a different password on another copy of your ID file and you must change the password on this copy to match."
When saving an attachment with Domino Attachment and Object Service enabled on the Domino 8.5 server, the error message "unable to write to the file" is seen on the server console. This results in the attachment being stored as a NSF file instead of a NLO file in DAOS.

Your Lotus Domino server hangs intermittenly at a rate of about once every 2-3 days after seeing the following error on the Domino Server console: "Unable to create Server task: Insufficient memory - server executive pool is full"
