What a stupid question! I've never understood why IBM played along with Microsoft's game of comparing those products. At school, kids learn you can't compare an orange to an apple, although I don't mean here that some marketing managers didn't go to school for long enough.
More seriously, how does one compares an application server (Domino) that does mail, Web serving, LDAP, synchronization of databases, database server, etc., to a mail server (Exchange) that does mail only?
So, although I keep thinking that the comparison is nonsense, let's try to compare the few basic features that can be evaluated between the products. Here's my analysis and some comments.
Avalon Business Systems builds mail management utilities for use with Lotus Notes mail systems. Now their ReduceMail Pro Archive is ready to provide a WAN-ready solution for remote access of archived mail.
At some point you've probably called Lotus and asked about something. Well, here's the list of the most frequent questions from last month with links to the answers. There are also links to a range of documents, self-help resources and more.

IMAP currently sync's mail to the DB designated in the Location document. But many users want to keep their IMAP mail seperated from their Domino mail.
Please provide a field on the Account document to specify where IMAP mail should be stored.
it would be nice having the option at Lotus Traveler to assign specified times when Lotus Traveler starts a synchronisation with the server. Also it would be helpful when Lotus Traveler automatically stops the data connection.
I like how Quickr's policies allow us to set limits on Place sizes, and how Quickr automatically emails Place Managers when Places get too large.
The problem is -- how do people know what to get rid of? My suggestion is to include brief report (or a link to a report) in the email that goes to Place Managers informing them of a Place that is over-grown. This report could include some simple statistics such as:
the 10 largest files (by name, size, and location [including a link])
the 5 largest folders (by name, size, and link)
the 10 oldest files over a certain size as set in the policy (again, listed by name, size, and location given by way of a link)
Alternatively (or addtionally), files / attachments / posts or even folders and rooms that are "large" could show Place Managers, Editors and Authors a flag of some sort -- a subtly throbbing warning triangle or a red underline, for instance. I can see this taking a lot more development time, and needing a lot more maintenance and administration (i.e., setting thresholds and dealing with certain users who don't like size restrictions, etc.). This could be something that is set voluntarily in the Customizations settings rather than in the Policy settings, though.
"Large" could also simply be determined by percentile rather than by passing a threshold -- for instance, the reports or indicators could show the largest 10% of files, or oldest 10% of files.
Just trying to put more responsibility on Place Managers and take more work from Domino admins! :-)
When archiving documents from a Notes database, documents with follow-up flags even if they meet a date criteria, will not be archive. Adding an option to ignore follow-up flags in the archive settings profile would allow older documents that may be no longer necessary to be archived even though they may still be flagged. For example a document that was flagged three years ago, most likely doesn't need to be kept in the current database.
Ideas need a forum; IdeaJam provides this. But how does a really great idea get the exposure it needs in order for decision makers to see how popular/great it is? IdeaJam should be able to email the idea originator's manager chain (from Blue Pages). Options should include the level of managers to email (i.e. only immediate, or manager's manager), opitonal email members, and the minimum vote value required to trigger an email.
This feature serves two purposes: showcases great/popular ideas bringing them to a managers' attention for possible action, and communicates to managers that one of their team members had a great idea.

The following document is a checklist for Domino Web Access best practices. It is designed to provide customers and IBM personnel with information required to ensure a successful Notes/Domino environment.
You set your Lotus Notes client set as your default mail application. When you try to send an e-mail from a third-party application (Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, OpenOffice) by selecting the appropriate send option, errors occur.
The HTML content delivered by Lotus Domino in the blog template block (Block template --> HTMLTop) is hard-coded as "ISO-8859-1". However, the server may not use "8859-1" and this may result in certain characters not displaying correctly.
With Alloy™ by IBM® and SAP® 1.0, business users can easily access SAP software and information from within their IBM Lotus Notes® environment, both online and offline. In addition to leave, travel, and reports management, Alloy also allows for custom workflow decision steps, defined in an SAP business process, to be brought into a user's Lotus Notes inbox. This article explains the necessary steps to implement such a custom workflow decision, based on a simple customer example.
A stand-alone JAVA 1.4.2 application with JIT enabled panics when calling Domino 7.x code on Linux for zSeries. The Java application works if JIT is disabled.
While installing a Lotus Notes 8 client, you do not choose the default location. If you then install a Multilingual User Interface (MUI) language pack using a silent install through a command line, the MUI pack installs in a wrong location.
In Lotus Notes, you replicate the server copy of your mail file to a local replica. When you receive a new mail and try to open it in the local copy, you receive an error message.
You print out a meeting in your Lotus Notes Calendar to which many people were invited. On the printout, only a few of the people invited display in the "To" field.
