First,i want to try your guide :) .I have installed TTF unicode downloaded
from internet.My default fonts in KDE Conrol Center is russian fonts
and LANG = ru_RU.KOI8-R. too
Maybe i will upgrade to RH 9.0 soon :)

So, what application do you use instead GTK/KDE and Mozilla. What
widgetsets?

And would you like to upgrade your system to RedHat 9, in who there are
not problem with Russian language support. Does your hardware let this
upgrade?

Well, I think it is better to set LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8 or LANG=ru_RU.KOI8-R.
So you EXACTLY specify the encoding you use.
And please name EXACTLY applications you use (e.g. Emacs,
OpenOffice.org, etc), XFree86 version and its FontPath.

Элементарно driver -это программа для работы определённого
компьютерного устройства.
