USA Junior Men- What’s Your Opinion
2008-09-18 15:04 peterdoucet

The thread “What’s your opinion?” has sparked a discussion about the USA junior men & their performance at the recent World Roller Speed Skating Championships.

Joey Mantia posted his thoughts on his website in the entry Don’t Short Change Yourself.

In conclusion, there is a lot of talent that is just waiting to be tapped from the american juniors returning next year as well as those coming up. It’s ultimately up to them, because no one can force them to work hard and be motivated. To be honest, making the team and winning the actual races at worlds are the easiest parts of the whole process, the training and mental preparation are far more challenging, and those are two keys to success in this situation.

Andrew Love- 2 USA Short Track Olympic Trials
2008-09-18 21:58 peterdoucet

Andrew Love shared his thoughts on the news that the USA will be having two trials for its short track speed skating squad to represent the USA at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics- read more in 2 Olympic Trials?!?!.

Also, the sports physiologists who work for US speedskating said that so many weeks of intense competition in a row would lead to emotionally and physically fried athletes, just a few weeks before the start of the games.

For a lucky few, it’s a stepping-stone to other things, but for the majority of us who race this event, it’s a singular moment that will echo in our hearts for as long as we live.

His hands were in the air but they were calling another name over the loudspeaker. I think what happened is the finish line was directly before the timing mat. The finish picture was clear though, and Adam was the winner by half of a wheel. It doesn’t get any better than that!

I will glue a bronze medal to my underwear drawer so i have to look at it every day! This will remind me to work harder and take care of my body better!
