2008-05-19 11:15
today was the world inline cup in Wolvega, NL. all team member was here except Kwinten Tas because he had to race national belgium championship. the team meet saturday evening in hotel HOLLAND INN Wolvega. on sunday morning after breakfast we went to check the 46 km race lap. that's a really cool lap with 3km of small stones like "paris roubaix"...and a super nice wind to make the race harder. Nicolas had a back pain so he went to see a phisio in TEW in the hotel. he got 3 sessions to help to fix. thanks Yves for the help. sunday 12H, pascal did some resistance streching with Bob Cooley to make my body ready for te race. 13h30 all team went to the start line to sign for the race near the podium. 30min later we were on the starting line. we start wind in the back so for the 1ST 15km the pack wa flying under the attack from the matter team... few skater crash sometimes including Peter Mickael.... Powerslide phuzion team was waiting in the midle of the group. when we arive on the first serie of small stones road (2km) nicolas zamudio make some attack and Kalon Dobbin too...but it didn't work...then arjan smit and dj nation breakway for 5km long... one columbian chase them and the pack was then compact. soon we had to turn left and wind woul be in the face.....Pascal Briand attack just before this turn with a guy from Habovo team...and make a gap of about 30sec..... 5km later a skater from zepto was able to come back alone....this 3 skaters stay 30sec ahead for almost 15km....then ingmar berga and a columbian come back on them 5km from the finish... the 5 skater keep a 20sec advance on a furious pack till the finish... the columbian guy won in front of ingmar and Ryan form Zepto. Pascal briand got 5th....Fleix 12th, nicolas 13th....pascal ramali 21th.... that s the best result for our team since the begining of the season...nice to see we progress every races.....
with best regards from the Powerslide Phuzion team!
The boys decided to take a different approach to the race in Holland, they went on a full out attack from the get go. Attack after attack, the Matter boys broke the race up over the first 20km, but unfortunately Peter crashed in the first 5km and was unable to rejoin the main group.
DJ was finally able to get away with a Dutch skater, the two worked together well and opened up a large gap. It looked like they were gone for all money but the eventual winner chased for 5km alone and brought them back to the pack.
DJ continued to attack but was able to join the winning break, more miss fortune hit the Matter boys 3km from the finish with Nelson crashing out. The crashes did not stop there as DJ hit the deck about 30 meters from the line during the sprint finish. Andres was able to finish 10th, being 5th in the main group sprint finish, with this result he has moved into the 4th position in the WIC rankings.
On the girls side, the team was able to put the whole team inside the first 11. Liana was able to escape the main group and come in for the 4th placement, Natalia finished 7th and Andrea 9th.
With Liana’s result it has moved her into 2nd in the overall WIC ranking, while Andrea sits in the 4th place and Natalia holds the 8th spot. Unfortunately the girls will not be racing in Asia so they don’t have the chance to finish high in the overall ranking at the end of the year but they will be going full on for the SIC rankings.

Nicole Begg shared her experiences from this past weekend’s World Inline Cup race in Wolvega, Holland. She wrote ‘The womens race started at 2pm in the middle of the village cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd. The first 500 meters of the race was neutralized but as soon as the flag was raised and the pace car took off the attacks started. The local skaters set the pace and attacked early. We had to react to all these early attacks made because many of the Dutch skaters were unknown‘. Check out Alexandra Vivas Winner WIC, Wolvega for more.
