In the beginning of learning English I was trying to write new words out in a copybook, but always forgot them next day. Is it the familiar situation for you? If yes, it's not a surprise. For sure, vocabulary is one of the most difficult things in English. So how should we learn new words not to forget them shortly? Now my vocabulary is pretty good, so I'm going just to tell you about my methods of remembering new words and phrases. I hope it'll be useful for you;) 1. If you want to expand your vocabulary quickly you have to read A LOT. I was reading everywhere I could. At home, at train, underground etc. And honestly I didn't even tried to remember new words. I just read a lot. When you're reading a book you're learning and remembering new words and phrases anyway. The point is you should read as often as possible. And please, don't read too hard books. Choose some good adaptive books according to your level. As usual, all the difficult words are translated in the books like that. More about reading in English and adaptive literature  you can read in the article «How to read books properly». Also you'll find there lots of books for different levels of English. So check this out! 2. Try to listen to English speech as much as you can. You can listen to different staff like songs, podcasts, radio etc. I wrote about the importance of listening it in the article «How to improve your listening skill». You can read it. Of course it's going to be difficult in the beginning of learning, when you don't understand the most of words you're hearing. But there is another point here. When you're listening to something in English you're revising your knowledge of the words you already know. And it's very important, because this way you keep your vocabulary. 3. Don't try to remember some single words. It's useless. For example if you see a new word, write out the whole phrase with this word to your copybook. This way you can understand in what situations you can use the word. More over, our brain remember phrases much better than single words. 4. In the English language one word can have lots of meanings. And the best way to remember them is making up the sentences with them. For example, you've seen a new word. The first thing you have to do is to write out the whole phrase with this word to your own dictionary (by the way start keeping your own dictionary if you don't do it so far). Then try to make up some easy sentence with this word. After you've learnt about 10 words of one subject (f.e. man's character), try to write a little text, using these words. 5-7 sentences are enough. I always did like that. 5. As I already said, keep your own dictionary where you'll put all the new words down. Try to learn at least 5 new words a day and in some period of time you'll see an improvement. Don't be upset about your poor vocabulary. It's not so easy and it needs time. That's it. These ways I improve my vocabulary. Hopefully they'll help you. There are another ways to improve vocabulary. For example some people keep the dictionary where they make all the parts of speech from one word. Some people keep special cards with new words and try to remember them. Some people just learn new words by heart. So there are a lot of methods, guys. All the means are good here. So keep it in mind! I hope the article was useful for you. In this short article I'm gonna tell you about good words which you can use to describe appearance of a man. As I already told you in the article «Describe a character in English», if you wanna ask about someone's appearance, you can say: How does he/she look like? What does he/she look like? What is the difference between these two variants I don't know to be honest. If you're a native speaker, please tell me about it in the comments. It would be awesome! So in English there are so many words of this subject and it's impossible to know all of them. But you don't have to do it at all. It's very important to know just some most common and good of them.
