Система компьютерной алгебры GAP - ICGS2009

Dear Colleague:

Below is an announcement about a conference that will be
held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2009.
Please distribute this to all who may be interested.

           ICGS2009   FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

An International Conference on Geometric and Combinatorial
Methods in Group Theory and Semigroup Theory will be held at
the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from May 17 to May 21, 2009.

It is our hope that this conference will stimulate cooperative
research among group theorists and semigroup theorists who are using
related techniques.  In particular, the talks will be on
research that involves applying geometric methods, combinatorial
methods, dynamical methods, algorithmic properties, or asymptotic
properties to groups or semigroups.

This conference is also a recognition of the research contributions
of John Meakin, as well as his contributions to his students
and postdoctoral mentees, on the occasion of his 63.167th birthday.

More details about the conference, including a list of
researchers who have indicated plans to participate so far,
may be found at the conference web site
       http://www.math.unl.edu/events/special/icgs2009/ .
If you wish to be on a mailing list for future announcements,
there is a link provided on the web page.

If you wish to contribute a talk please send an email with
details to math-icgs at math dot unl dot edu.  The deadline for submitting
contributed talks is March 17, 2009.

Partial funding for this conference is being provided through
the Department of Mathematics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
We have also applied to other organizations for additional funding.
If you wish to apply for possible partial travel support from the
conference (particularly for graduate students, young researchers,
and members of under-represented groups without other sources of
travel funding), please send an email with details to
math-icgs at math dot unl dot edu by March 17, 2009.

If you know of mathematicians who may be interested,
please let them know about the conference and suggest that
they contact us at math-icgs at math dot unl dot edu.  We would especially
like to encourage participation by graduate students, young
researchers, and members of under-represented groups.

We hope to see you in Lincoln next May!

The conference organizers:
Collin Bleak  Susan Hermiller  Tanya Jajcayova  Stuart Margolis
