This are exciting times.
So far nothing from Brasil, but this morning at 06:33 UTC ZIY-344, George
Town, CYM, was logged. At 2 km short of 8000 this is my most distant NDB so
far.
It has only be logged by three other European listeners: Peter Conway,
Vincent Lecler and Dominique Kremp.

Last night the band was in excellent shape and quite a number of Canadians
were audible around local midnight. BX-220, QY-363, YHR-376, LT-305, DF-35-,
AY-356, YZS-362, YCO-372, NA-385, JT-390, JC-396 and probably others..

At times the frase "booming in like a local" is used. If you have not taken
this literally, take a look at the attached screenshot.
DF-350 is at 900 on the frequency scale. It is as strong as local ROT-350,
Rotterdam, 79km/49 miles!

A bit of static again this morning but overall conditions were OK.

LB-263, Lake Jackson, TX has a problem. The first two dits of the B
are missing. As a result it looks (using Spectran) like LTE with a
short space between the T and E. Modulation changed from plus/minus
1040 to plus/minus 980.

ER-263, Kerrville, TX, had a problem in 2002 and it is still there.
The modulation is very raspy and the carrier flares about plus/minus
50Hz when is is being modulated. Both LB and ER are daytime copy here.

I thought I had a new one GCT-516 but after checking the RNA log (my
favorite source for NDB info) I see that it moved from 518 to 516. I
guess navtex was too much for it to compete with. Modulation at
plus/minus 1020.

IPA-280, Easter Island, must be everybody's favorite thanks to its
distance and power, But Washington is still being stubborn for me.

I started this hobby in October of 2002 and I'm still having fun with
it. Hope you are too.

ZXY, Yukon heard this morning for a new one; only bits of it caught during
the last CLE. 68.5 BPC time signal first heard last night at 0515 utc, and
was at good level this morning from 12-13utc; faded away then up and down,
now back at 1420 much weaker. It's probably just propagation around my
sunrise that gives the odd receptions noted.
I think the summer Pacifics are mostly over for awhile, though a couple
heard today. Even Hawaii a very poor signal now, at least inland here. And
the very good conditions of several weeks ago were nice while they lasted,
but are gone now. Back to the domestics, which were doing well from the
midwest this morning.

Index was a moderate Level 4 and the lightning map "clean", conditions were
quite flat compared to earlier in the week. Canbada was down quite a bit in
signal strength too.

beginning a 6-character EAM "FOR WILLY WINKLE" but abruptly
terminating the transmission. At 1622z OFFUTT (male opr) sent a
6-character EAM (PD4NU3) "FOR WILLY WINKLE". 11175.0 was also active
between 1400z and 1430z with ANDREWS bcsting 2 6-character EAMs "FOR

A new Brazilian - ANP-415 Anapolis (GO) was logged, though it was fairly
weak. PEL-410 was heard again, but conditions seemed poorer last night.
A new one from EST UM-397 with a 1020 offset was recorded.

The International Broadcasting Bureau announces that its shortwave relay
station at Briech, Morocco, will cease operations in March 2008. Its ten
500-kilowatt transmitters (currently operating at 250 kilowatts) are used
for 20 VOA and seven RFE/RL language services. This announcement comes
shortly after the 28 October closure of the IBB shortwave transmitting
station at Delano, California.

The IBB transmitting station in Morocco will cease operations in March 2008,
and the facility will be returned to the Government of Morocco by the end of
next year.

The rising cost of operating the Morocco station prompted this decision. The
closing will not reduce the number of hours of radio programming currently
broadcast by shortwave: All programs currently broadcast from the Morocco
station will continue to be broadcast, either from other IBB facilities or
through lease arrangements.

Employees affected by the move will receive appropriate severance
compensation within the scope of U.S. Embassy agreements. The outstanding
work of these Moroccan station employees on behalf of U.S. international
broadcasting is greatly appreciated.

680 KBRW AK, Barrow, received a very friendly letter on nice
letterhead in 14d for CD report. I have been after this one for over 25
years. My most wanted Alaskan. Also enclosed two stickers. V/S: Robert
C. Sommer-VP and GM. Full detail QSL letter including location of
transmitter, 6 miles SE of the station, 10,000 watts. Mentioned their
listening audience is 70% Native American, mainly Inupiat Eskimo and
over 66% of the AM programming originates in their studios. Address:

Получил подтверждение с острова Палау от T8BZ (бывшая KHBN). Карточка всё та же, что и много лет назад (Voice of Hope World Network) когда станция кроме

Палау использовала передатчики в Южном Ливане и Калифорнии.
Подтверждающий по имени Ben Chan сделал на карточке приписку, что теперь станция имеет новый позывной потому, что теперь станциям Палау предписано

иметь свои, а не американские позывные.
Степень заполняемости карточек на Палау существенно повысилась: на специальной наклейке на карточке указаны все детали.
