(Christian Arvidsson, Storuman, Sweden - ndblist 15/10/2007) here are again some of ALF's loggings. The "UFO" on 4022 kHz looks like the "old" messages from what was called that time "FAPSI". I don't know how this operator is called correctly this time. Maybe as "Dep. of State Comms Moscow" ? ( = Diplo ???) UFO is the callsign? Any known one? It not reported on UDXF before. JOR is a new ident for my on the COTHE channel 7527 kHz, should be related to them, as it was reported by Bruno on 5732 kHz, another COTHEN channel. Who it is?? Any remote node, as JOE is reported to such a station ?? 73, Tom ======================================================================== 04022 UFO: unid Russian Governmental 1910 RTTY ITA2/75/500/N RY-mkr for "UFO 2/280" & 2 5FGs-msgs after "111OO OO7O1 OOOOO 1OO79 O15O9"- & "111OO OO1O1 OOOOO 1OO8O O13O9"-header, end: "QRU QRU SK SK 3994". 10Oct07 (ALF) [*] 05406 CLC51: Venezuelan Army, Communications Logistic Center, 51st Jungle Infantry Brigade, unid location 2340+ ALE/USB to SCLC514 (514th Jungle Infantry Batallion, Communications Logistic Service Center) w/LQA, no joy. 12Oct07 (ALF) 06812 437805: unid 0000a ALE/USB SND. 14oct07 (ALF) 06812 437806: unid 2101 ALE/USB SND. 13oct07 (ALF) 06812 437815: unid 0000+ ALE/USB SND & to 437801, 437805, 437806, 437811 w/LQA. 14Oct07 (ALF) 07527 JOR: unid, prob. Still too much to hear any weak signals, though. This morning Pacific conditions were rather odd. The static was still strong but not continuous at first, and some Pacifics could be heard. Strong domestics and Canadians at first too and general noisy band. Eventually around 1400 utc the static went away and the band became almost quiet--the remaining signals were easily heard then; the domestics and Canadians mostly went away too. I hear what we have presumed was 338 ESY, Montana every morning, always miskeying as "SG" the past several months. Yet Mark made a recent fishing trip to Yellowstone Park and says the airport for ESY is closed and ESY is off. So I guess "SG" is something else, an UNID. The odd thing is ESY was keying normally, then appeared to begin miskeying as "SG" on the same offsets as ESY. It would never do for the Lead Guitarist to fall asleep and fall off the platform during services, or nod off during the sermon. . . Saturday it seemed the the Alaskans were doing quite well, even though the 'donut' had quite a bit of colouring (level 5?) Like Steve R. noted in his posting, conditions last night were so noisy from a large T-storm front to the South-East that it was difficult to hear very much of anything. I hung in there for about 1 1/2 hours before finally throwing in the towel. 10-14-07 05:27 526 ZLS Long Island Bahama Islands 10-14-07 06:12 233 ALJ Johnstone Point, AK Alaska 10-14-07 06:15 233 BR Brandon, MB Canada 10-14-07 06:32 224 DN Dauphin, MB Canada 10-14-07 06:38 221 QU Grand Prairie, AB Canada 10-14-07 06:43 219 YMG Manitouwadge, ON Canada 10-14-07 07:00 215 ZAB Edmonton, AB Canada 10-14-07 07:08 209 IB Atikokan, ON Canada 10-14-07 07:12 207 YNE Norway House, MB Canada 10-15-07 06:41 290 YYF Penticton, BC Canada 10-15-07 06:48 284 QD The Pas, MB Canada 10-15-07 06:58 302 XY Whitehorse, YT Canada 10-15-07 07:10 334 YER Fort Severn, ON Canada 10-15-07 07:14 338 LSA Lamesa, TX USA 10-15-07 07:29 350 ON Newport, OR USA 10-15-07 07:48 353 F7 Parry Sound/Georgian ON Canada (KO6BB - ndblist 15/10/2007) 13 22:35 350 SK 351.031 1282 Zagreb/Pleso/S. It sure is Tom. 200201 does cross back to #00-0201 a C-17A transferred to the UK on 17 May 2001 as ZZ171 (N171UK). There is no doubt that your intercept was a US HF-GCS intercept based on CRO being used by the aircraft. Also your intercept occurred back in Aug 2007 and the earliest I have seen an XSS on these two freqs was the middle of September 2007 I think what still has to be sorted out for sure is if XSS and its associated units have now joined the HF-GCS net or if this is the UK DFHCS TASCOMM net standing up on at least two of the HF-GCS Aero OR freqs. I have never seen either of these two freqs used before by the RAF and will need more time to watch intercepts on these and the other HF-GCS freqs. So lets see how many of the HF-GCS ALE net freqs below get used by the DFHCS network. 3137.0 4721.0 5708.0 6721.0 9025.0 11226.0 13215.0 15043.0 18003.0 23337.0 kHz (Larry Van Horn, N5FPW, Brasstown, NC, USA - udxf 15/10/2007) 14 1740 230 WZ Kamenka RUS 892 New 13 1825 353 MH Mehamn NOR 1069 13 1840 353 KIL Kiel D 1286 13 1827 355 ARB Ardabil IRN 2952 11 1800 458 LP OID RUS - 12 1630 460 BZ Severomorsk3 RUS 877 New 11 1645 470 CD Mirgorod UKR 1340 12 1617 477 CL OID RUS - 12 1616 480 K OID RUS - 11 1810 505 GE Saransk RUS 1330 New 11 1808 508 Z Zilina SVK 1468 12 1735 518 HQ OID RUS - 14 1640 617 G Luhansk UKR 1637 New 12 1655 620 P Pskov RUS 414 New 14 1553 625 NW Ostefevo RUS 884 New 11 1555 700 FM OID RUS - 11 1600 708 UN Kurgan RUS 2280 12 1615 718 OF OID RUS - 11 1615 770 MI Mikhaylovka RUS 1861 New 11 1624 796 YuP OID RUS - 11 1625 815 DD Lipetsk RUS 1217 New 13 1605 824 UU Vitebsk BLR 724 12 1600 970 KQ Tambov RUS 1287 New 12 1700 970 US Yelshanka RUS 1574 New 12 1605 1025 US Moravlyanka RUS 1082 New (Torre Ekblom, Ristiina, Finland - ndblist 15/10/2007) 09200.0 10111: Mrc-Moi/Direction de la Protection Civile 1843 ALE/USB clg 1322 (2007-10-15) (sw) 05823.0 13091: Mrc-Moi/Direction de la Protection Civile 1917 ALE/USB sndg. I seem to have a pipeline to that single Brazilian, as once the season for it starts, I seem to hear it often. A new probable Far East Russian heard, though is an UNID for now; would be a first for me from Oregon. Having light static at first, then going away this morning helped give a nice quiet band for the weaker signals. I spent more time on the UNID, and other parts of the band got neglected until later. 214 XA JPN 1352 poor -1010 DAID 251 OSE ALS 1423 weak -1025 +1030 260 NF NFK 1349 very poor -402 270 FA SMO 1348 very poor/poor 276 TVL AUS 1355 very poor +1028 281 CRN ALS 1315 weak, hoping for VIR 316 MAJ MHL 1345 poor +1044 332 POA HWA 1344 poor/weak 338 CMQ ALS 1407 poor -1030 338 ESY MT 1405 poor, miskeying "SG" 352 RG CKS 1343 very poor 359 NDJ MHL 1341 poor 360 OX VOI 1341 poor DA2ID 366 PNI FSM 1340 weak +1012 373 PQ JPN 1402 very poor/poor +1010 DAID 375 OJ INS 1401 very poor +1016, gradual fadeup from nothing 375 TKK FSM 1338 very poor/poor +1028 390 HK JPN 1334 very poor/poor +1011 DAID 393 UKS FSM 1336 very poor/poor 400 MDY MDW 1403 very poor -405 403 TUT SMA 1331 very poor 412 SON VUT 1331 very poor 415 KW TWN 1357 very poor +1019 445 LS UNID 1300 very poor/poor, -1020, short cycle, almost continuous ident. The static never really went away, but did finally taper off, around 1400 utc--very late. However I did hear 415 KW, Taiwan again, for the fourth time now since first stumbling onto it on October 11. This was late, and the static was just starting to decrease. But the highlight of today, even in spite of the S9-S9+20 static, was catching 281 VIR, Point Barrow, Alaska on a short fadeup. It's been several years since I've heard it here, though it was heard at Grayland, on the Washington coast a year or so ago. I can only wonder what might have been heard if the static hadn't interfered today, as conditions seemed to be pretty good from what little I did hear. A few western Pacifics were heard, at the end of the session, basically, but I think it was more of a northwest Pacific-propagation morning. Usual Far East Russian LWBC stations were poor today compared to most recent mornings, but fairly rare Mongolia LWBC on 164 and 209 were both heard at poor levels today. 214 XA JPN 1427 weak -1010 281 VIR ALS 1344 poor +1036, only on N/S antenna, nice fade up for several minutes. The voice used was most likely Russian, numbers was 5 FG's, 8 was pronounced as "vosem'", 4 was pronounced as "chety're", the transmission ended with "null null null null null". After the transmission ended there was some noise best described as pulsating modulated hum. There was also some short periods in the "hum" that was best described as a second carrier on the frequency, and suddenly a male computer voice came along with "five three zero nine three" "four one five eight zero" "four one five eight zero" "one five" in english and then back to the "modulated hum". (Trond, Hvaler, Norway - udxf 18/10/2007) I've heard tuesday morning TUI from Brasil. It was on 220khz. But the best reception was on 220,420khz. Yesterday evening i've heard NJ on 485,400khz. This is an UNID beacon our a negative-keying. I've tried to decode the miskeying but it did not worked. So I think that this a beacon. The signal was strong but after a few minutes went the signal and the audio weaker. Was it fading our something else. This morning I've heard PPA from DOM. at 450,...khz. A few good receptions. I've recorded all those three stations on a MP3-file for the collection. 15-10-2007 358 1857 TUN AUT Tulln for Schwechat 15-10-2007 360 1914 SR DEU Saarbrucken / Ensheim 15-10-2007 365 1932 L CZE Karlovy Vary / Vrata 15-10-2007 366,5 1938 CAR IOM Isle Of Man / Ronaldsway / Carnane 15-10-2007 368,5 1946 WHI ENG Whitegate for Hawarden 15-10-2007 371 1952 NQ XOE ID + 2" gap 16-10-2007 220 0013 TUI BRA Tucurui 16-10-2007 398 0326 NIT SVK Nitra 16-10-2007 413 0425 KTI AUT Innsbruck / Kuhtai 17-10-2007 385 1941 NJ XUU 17-10-2007 370 1954 PSA DEU Spessart 18-10-2007 450 0555 PPA DOM Puerto Plata (Frank, Hoeven, Holland - ndblist 18/10/2007) 17 2030 354.0 FE Roma-Fiumicino ITA 925 Y (Franti¹ek Müller, Praha, Cz - ndblist 18/10/2007) I got lucky again this morning, as static was low, tapering off to nothing later. There was some T-storm noise from the storms to the East, the Donut bounced back and forth between levels 2-5, and propagation seemed to be fair to good. NOT great to Alaska and vicinity, some of the previously logged ones being heard, but much weaker. The only thing of real note during the session was when I logged GZV-280, I kept writing down GYZ (Wyoming, active on the same frequency). But it was 'definitely' GZV in Texas that I was hearing. I kinda suspect that perhaps GYZ was ALSO in there, playing on my subcouncious, but not really at an audible level. . . Needless to say, it didn't get logged. The first is YaN-463, (.-.- -.), Severomorks 3, RUS, 2493 km. A carrier was spotted on 463 kHz early in the evening and it took two hours before I could copy the ID. This station is located near Murmansk in arctic Russia. Barbados was much easier, thanks to Dominique who provided an accurate lower offset and Vernon, who sent me an excellent soundclip. The last few weeks I make several fruitless attemps, but this morning I dialled BGI-up on 343,981 kHz and it was there. Quite weak, but a 100 % copy. After 6 ID's it faded away. This one took me two minutes. At 06:00 DDP-392 was as strong as I ever heard it. I had to switch the MEAS. RANGE switch of the SPM-30 up three 10 dB steps to get it in the level meter range. It was 42 dB above the noise floor on my mini-whip. A pity I had to rush off to work.
