Marketing and Business Management in Insurance Industry

Hours: 40 hours/week

Training Duration: 2 part program - Part I: 1-3 months, Part II: 3-18 months

Compensation: Part I: volunteer training

 Part II: $1,000/month stipend or commission, whichever is greater.

Host Company Description:

 

A consultant company assists business owners on how to cut operation costs and improve employee benefits (health insurance, retirement planning, etc.), and in the economy, virtually EVERY company is a viable prospect for our services.

 

The company offers a phenomenal internship program in which new interns are coached on an ongoing basis. Interns are trained and mentored by Senior Consultants and also have the opportunity to work directly with the company president.

 

Interns learn how the insurance industry works, and how the company is uniquely positioned within the industry as the #1 firm in California. Interns will learn how the company saves clients’ money on their employee benefits, workers’ compensation insurance, payroll services and human resources administration. They will also be exposed to our financial planning division, learning about unique tax strategies, retirement planning, asset protection and corporate structuring.

 

Applicant Qualifications:

∙ To apply for an internship program, you must be a marketing or business management undergraduate/graduate student (maximum duration – 12 months) OR recent graduate (less than 12 months prior to program start date)

∙ To apply for a trainee program, you must hold a marketing or business management degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, OR be a career professional of 5 or more years of related experience (maximum duration – 18 months)

∙ Excellent English communication skills

∙ At the end of 90 days training period, the candidate has a option of obtaining an insurance license with the State of California (6-day course, followed by an exam)

∙ Willing to advance current skills and knowledge by learning American insurance industry

∙ Willing to participate in 90-day volunteer training period

 

Training/Internship Program Details:

 

Part I

For J-1 Visa candidates, the company offers a 90-day training/probationary program (unpaid). During this time, the candidate will learn how our industry works and will be appointed a mentor at the company. This is a unique experience that J-1 candidates actually get to work directly with some of the most successful consultants in our industry. During this 90-day period, the candidate will be required to obtain an insurance license with the State of California (6-day course, followed by an exam).

 

Part II

Once the candidate completes the 90-day training period and pass the exam, the intern can elect to participate in Broker Trainee Program (15-month training course).

 

Interns in our Broker Trainee Program will work alongside of our most successful consultants and brokers, and will experience a full-time career as an insurance broker. There will be an opportunities to work directly with the clients and participate in consulting work.

 

The trainee will be eligible to receive $1,000/month stipend or commission, whichever is greater. In an industry where the average age of an insurance broker is 58 in the state of California, the average age of our company is 27. Some of our brokers make over $100,000 a year, and they are under the age of 30 years old.

 

This is a phenomenal learning experience for the right candidate. Once the 18-month J-1 Visa Program is completed, the intern may elect to apply for an H1-B visa and be considered for a permanent position with the company. We currently have two H1-B Visa workers working full-time.
