The first ever Belorusian tractor biathlon tournament was held in a sand pit near the Sutkovo village of the Smorgon district, on Saturday.
Fifteen 'Belarus' tractors participated, with 14 finishing the race. Five teams included two types of 'athletes' each: those who participated in the relay race and those who showed extreme driving. Skis were replaced by small tractors and rifles — by paintball guns.
According to one of the contestants, the track was difficult with lots of turnings. «I still cannot get back my breath,» he added.
Another participant added, that «It was really hard to learn how to shoot.»

Questions on the International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s decision to uphold the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee from the Olympic Games dominated a press conference given by the IOC's President Thomas Bach after the final leg of the Committee's 132nd session in PyeongChang, Sunday, as the XXIII Winter Olympics drew to a close.
The IOC President, Thomas Bach, commented on the recent doping scandal concerning the Russian Mixed Curling team in which Aleksandr Krushelnitckii admitted to an anti-doping violation, stating that «there was no indication that these two cases were due to a systematic approach or that the delegation was in any way trying to assist or to cover up, but that on the contrary that there the OAR delegation was very proactive and in the case of the mixed curlers, for instance, gave the medal back right away.»
However, he did note that this case influenced their decision to keep the suspension in place until after the end of the Olympics.
Following the IOC's decision to maintain the suspension on the Russian Federation, the country's flag will not be present when the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) march at the Closing Ceremony of the PyeongChang Olympics.
However, Bach remained positive that a total lifting of the suspension could be seen, after and only if there are no additional positive doping cases registered from OAR athletes.

Legendary US boxer and former world champion Mike Tyson spoke about his leisure time and future plans when attending the international mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk on Saturday.
Tyson stated that he does not miss boxing, saying that «when I see people fighting, I don't miss it at all.»
The global boxing icon also said that a movie career did not seem attractive to him and that he is «only interested in hanging out with my kids. My kids are my new best friends.»
When asked about his impression of Russian people, Tyson said that they are «very sensitive» and «very kind,» adding that the Russians «don't have that reputation in America.»
The former boxing champion also joked about his known love for pigeons, exclaiming that «I spend all my money on my pigeons.»
The MMA tournament took place in Chelyabinsk's 'Traktor' Arena on Saturday. Tyson attended the battle between Russian MMA fighter Ivan Shtirkov and Polish MMA fighter Marcin Lazarz.
The US former boxer attended the tournament's major event along with Russian-Australian professional boxer Kostya Tszyu.

Czech Skier and Snowboarder Ester Ledecka reacted to becoming seen as the «Queen of the Games» during a press conference in Pyeongchang on Sunday, following a historic Olympic feat on Saturday when the athlete conquered the Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom to become the first woman to win two gold medals in the same Olympics in different sports.
Ledecka said she found it fun to train and improve herself, whilst also admitting «I cannot say that everyday I woke up and said 'wee lets go to the hill' because sometimes its 5 o'clock in the morning and I just want to stay in bed».
The 22-year-old athlete shook the sporting world last week when she won the Alpine Skiing's Super-G race by 0.11 of a second, after previously weighing in at no higher than 29th place.
Ledecka has been dubbed «Queen of the Games» by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), among many other names, to describe her remarkable success at the XIII Winter Olympic Games.

Russian sports fans were overwhelmed with joy after the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) men's ice hockey team won its first Olympic gold medal in hockey since 1992. Hockey fans shared their excitement after watching a live stream from Pyeongchang, in one of Vladivostok's bars on Sunday.
«The team pulled itself together. I think they are fighting and they know for what they are fighting for because everything that our country is going through from the global community is beyond reason,» said a fan while the game was still underway.
Following Russia's victory, one of the fans said that he was «at a loss of words» because «since 1998, we had not managed to win or even make it into finals or semi-finals.»
Another Russian fan called the match «very tense,» adding that he and his friends had run out of «all the validol pills» by the end of the match.
On Sunday morning, the OAR men's hockey team won the gold medal after beating Germany 4-3 in overtime.

Russian fans left the Gangneung Hockey Centre on Sunday in cheers after the Olympic Athletes from Russia (OAR) men's ice hockey team beat Germany, winning its first Olympic gold medal in hockey since 1992.
President of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretyak noted that the game was «very difficult» and that «till the last seconds, nobody knew, Germany was in 30 seconds from the victory, but our players demonstrated courage and character.»
«I congratulate not only our team but also all the fans who have been cheering for us,» added Tretyak.
Another supporter from Russia said that «there was a feeling that we lost the control [over the game] at some point but then everything turned full circle. It was a great match and a great victory.»

Iran: Women hope exceptional access to basketball game becomes

Women were allowed to be among the audience of a basketball game between Iran and Iraq in Tehran on Sunday, in an exceptional departure from a nationwide ban on women attending men’s sporting events.
Sunday’s exception to the ban took place after the Basketball Federation of Iran announced that women would be free to enter Azadi Stadium.
Women of all ages filled up the bleachers as they cheered along the Iranian national team. «It is so exciting and we really would like them to give women more space,» spectator Shabnam Fathi said.
«As you were watching the atmosphere of the hall was healthy and joyful. There were no problems and no disrespect, there was only happiness. I hope that it continues,» spectator Sahar Harsijian said.
A ban on women attending men’s sports events remains active in Iran. The country has allowed select occasions, most notably an Iran-USA volleyball match in 2015.
Women’s presence on Sunday was different from previous times, when they have had to pass an accurate selection process. This time, the Basketball Federation of Iran encouraged everyone to participate and bring along family members.
«I hope this issue can be extended in other fields,» Vice Chairman of the Basketball Federation Farideh Shoaei said.
