Jacky Schu Skates Like A Robot Jacky Schu’s blog Passion on Wheels has a post called Robot. He wrote ‘But the lesson today was not from practice, when we had brunch in sunset grill after practice, Aaron showed me how I skated like a robot…‘. ![]() 2008-03-27 01:50 peterdoucet I learned that Jordan Belchos placed 3rd in the 100 lap race (40km) at the recent ING Olympic Oval Finale. The winner of the race was from the Netherlands. The results may be posted here at a later time. ![]() 2008-03-27 01:52 peterdoucet In the thread Gross Geau Kriterium 30th Anniversary, Canadianref01 says ‘The event should be bigger than ever because of their 30th anniversary’. The event, which is very big, competitive, and well supported, takes place in Germnay. Check out the Gross Gerau event website. ![]() 2008-03-27 01:58 peterdoucet In the thread What is the best training camp location in Italy?, Barry Publow ‘would like to collect some thoughts on the best city/location‘ to hold a 7 training camp in Italy. I am currently reading a book called Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Amongst other things, she writes about her time she spent in Italy. She deduced that the world’s best pizza comes from Naples. I have no idea what Naples looks like, but from her description of the pizza, Naples would be a perfect place for a camp. ![]() 2008-03-27 02:03 peterdoucet Coach Steve posted a write up from the Tampa Classic Invitational. I really like his words; ‘Win or lose, as long as you gave it 100% that’s all that matters. Remember, you need to pursue victory in the context of cooperation, friendship, support, mutual respect, and compassion‘. You will also find photos from the event in the report. ![]() 2008-03-27 02:07 peterdoucet The Inline Planet’s latest poll is as follows; Is Your Town Skate Friendly? So far, people have responded about Houston & Texas, the Chicago area, Loveland CO, Minneapolis MN, and Syracuse NY. ![]() 2008-03-27 02:11 peterdoucet Check out David Sarmiento’s NRCO Profile. I got to race David at the 2007 Athens to Atlanta and he was very strong- finishing 2nd just behind Aaron Arndt and kicking me around by some 4 1/2 minutes. About skating in Colombia, he says ‘In Colombia, people know about skating. They see the World Championships on TV‘. ![]() 2008-03-27 02:14 peterdoucet Well, the race organizers for the Tampa Classic Invitational are on the ball, with the 2009 event details already announced. The racing will take place April 9th to the 12th- see TAMPA CLASSIC 2009 for more. dopey358 wrote some very nice words about the 2008 edition, saying ‘Besides, do you really choose the meets you go to based on the awards. Personally, if my team goes to a meet, has little to no competition, walks away with every race and wins GIANT trophies and their entry fees back I feel we have wasted our time. If we spend the time and money to go to a meet in March it has to offer the competition necessary to show us if we are on track for Nationals. Nobody but NOBODY can say that wasn’t the case in Tampa. There were VERY few events where you just had to show up to get an award. EVERY open, even the Juvenile opens were absolute battles. You couldn’t ask for anything more. I’ll bet there were National Champions in almost every division contested and certainly every open. Even the Novice events were stacked with good skaters‘. ![]() 2008-03-27 02:17 peterdoucet Roller En Ligne’s Vidéo : course à éliminations 3 Pistes 2008 features the Elite men’s elimination race from Valence d’Agen- the 2nd of 3 days of racing. You’ll be treated to some good footage of the start and the last 10-laps of the night-time race with the announcer calling out the eliminations. Enjoy- I did ![]() 2008-03-27 02:33 CadoMotus News Over the Easter weekend the Trophée des Trois Pistes was held in France - a little earlier on the calendar this year, with the event typically being held during April. You can find more Buckeye Easter Classic videos here; Buckeye Easter Classic - Senior 3000m Final Video. ![]() 2008-03-27 06:31 peterdoucet Jacky Schu’s blog Passion on Wheels has a post called Robot. He wrote ‘But the lesson today was not from practice, when we had brunch in sunset grill after practice, Aaron showed me how I skated like a robot…‘. ![]() 2008-03-27 06:31 peterdoucet Aaron Arndt will be holding a clinic this Saturday- check out the clinic details-below is what I received in an e-mail; As many of you may already know, I have confirmed a spot on a European Pro team for the 2008 Inline season; Subaru X-Tech, and will depart for Switzerland/Germany for the entire season very soon. I leave April 9th, and between now and then I have a major paper due, as well as five exams to complete at York University (the first is tomorrow). With the help and support of the Toronto Inline Skating Club and its members, I am hoping to use this clinic as a fundraiser for my trip overseas. I would greatly appreciate the help and attendance of club members!!! So, here are the ‘need to know’ details: Location: Christ the King Catholic School – 200m Track Date: Saturday, March 29, 2008 Time: 10:30am - 5:00pm (45 minute lunch break) Structure: The basis of this clinic will primarily be video analysis. Following the morning session of dry land explanation and corrections, each skater will be formally videoed and this video will be analysed immediately afterwards in a group setting at the track site. This will be followed by specific drills/practice for the immediate needs of each skater, followed by a re-shooting of the video, and another analysis. I will also make the video segments for each skater available to them after the clinic. Price: $40 per person (minimum donation) The weather forecast is currently predicting clear skies, and a high of 4 degrees; the same as today. I was at the track today for several hours preparing the pavement, and in the afternoon it was actually quite nice and comfortable. I was shovelling snow in just a T-shirt! Regardless, I urge you all to bring warm clothes, jackets, scarves, hats gloves etc. to stay warm during the video analysis portion of the clinic. Chairs and blankets will be great to have also. Also, be prepared with warm skating gear (preferably tight for the video), and running shoes + sweats for the dry land portion. Also, you will need to feed yourselves during the 45 minute lunch, but there are many restaurants in the area, as well as a “No Frills” Supermarket that serves a prepared meals menu right next to the track. ![]() 2008-03-27 07:52 durrenbe@yahoo.com (David Durrenberger) Rachard Johnson: Daily Bread Vol.10 issue 6 (Aug 02) Interview: Download: rachard_profile_dbmag2.pdf.
