LGBT activist Lusha Gushcov said: «We are here to make noise and to raise the voice for those who haven't been [able] to speak, for those people who were just forced to leave their home countries, who are [being] purged in this new era of genocide.»
Earlier this year it was reported more than 100 people had been detained in Chechnya on suspicion of being homosexual, and that at least three had been killed, according to human rights groups.
Morocco: Eleven arrested in Islamic State cell raid

Moroccan security forces arrested 11 people suspected of having ties to Islamic State in Fez on Saturday.
The suspects, who are reportedly part of an «extremely dangerous» terrorist cell, were arrested during a raid that led to the discovery of weapons, ammunition, chemicals, gas canisters and knives.
The Moroccan Interior Ministry stated that the cell members were active in cities such as Khouribga, Casablanca, Meknes and Fez, and they planned to carry out attacks in «sensitive areas.»
Among the eleven arrested was the suspected mastermind of the cell and an accomplice.

Russia: Islamic State loses Al-Mayadeen stronghold

Syrian and allied troops have taken back Al-Mayadeen from Islamic State, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday.
The city is located 44 kilometres (27.3 miles) southeast of Deir ez-Zor and is thought to be one of the last strongholds of the terror group as they flee Raqqa.
Russian Defence Ministry Spokesperson Major General Igor Konashenkov confirmed that the city was retaken during a successful offensive operation carried out by Syrian government troops.
Footage shows the initial moments after the liberation of Al-Mayadeen as smoke billows above the houses of the deserted city.
The operation lasted less than three days.

Officers of National Antiterror Committee and police officers discovered a group of militants allegedly tied to Islamic State in Makhachkala on Saturday.
Footage released shows police searching the place where the militants gathered. The police reported that it found at least three homemade explosive devices.
Four residents in the Russian North Caucasus region of Dagestan were detained for alleged connections to Islamic State. Authorities say they collected evidence of plans and preparation for blasts in mass public spaces as well as attacks on police and military officers.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asserted that the administration of US President Donald Trump is «not in a position under the nuclear deal to certify Iran's compliance with its commitments to the deal,» in Tehran, Saturday.
Zarif made the remarks during a live interview with Iranian state TV in response to Trump, who reneged unilaterally on the 2015 international nuclear agreement on Friday.
«Any time that the Islamic Republic feels that the actions of the other parties are not enough in lifting sanctions and the deal does not preserve the interests of Iran, it can consider its own options — one of which is to pull out of the nuclear deal,» Zarif said.
Zarif further noted that, if Iran quits the nuclear deal, «we will be in a situation where we can certainly pursue our peaceful nuclear programme, better and more advanced than when we entered the nuclear negotiations.»

During the morning, several residents expressed their opinions on the elections and expectations for its outcome.
One woman, Mareike, remarked that the elections were too close to call at this point: «It's head-to-head,» she said.
The Lower Saxony election is the final state vote before the Bundestag officially reconvenes for its next term and could influence upcoming coalition talks. However Manfried, a Hanover resident, said he believes the Social Democrats' (SPD) decision to go into opposition in the Bundestag makes the state election less of a focus at the national level.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU) party are taking steps to build a coalition with other parties on a national level.
Polls for Lower Saxony's state elections have the SPD marginally ahead of the CDU.

Kurz, 31, who has run on an anti-immigration and low-taxation platform is widely expected to enter a coalition with the right-wing Freedom Party (FPO). Founded in 1956, the FPO's inaugural leader was a former Nazi SS paramilitary member.

Hundreds of people rallied in Girona on Sunday, in support of the results of the 1 October referendum and in favour of proclaiming the Catalan Republic.
The rally was organised by the Girona Vota foundation, and saw demonstrators filling up one of Girona's historic squares in front of the city hall.
Speakers called on Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont to «quickly apply» the result of the referendum, while banners reading 'the people have decided, republic now!' dominated the scene. Part of the rally then moved to the sub-delegation of the Spanish Government and to local National Police offices.
Puigdemont is expected to respond on Monday to the Spanish government's requirement that he confirm his decision regarding Catalonia's independence. He has announced on Sunday that «peace and democracy will be the reasons of decisions to be made.»

President of the Catalan government Carles Puigdemont paid respects to former Catalonian President Lluis Companys, who was executed by former Spanish dictator General Francisco Franco, at a memorial service in Barcelona marking 77 years since his execution, Sunday.

Demonstrators held a torchlight march to the site of Comapnys' execution, with some laying wreaths and singing commemorative songs.
Companys was the leader of Republican Left of Catalonia political party in the 30s and was executed by firing squad under the Franco regime.

Chancellor candidate for the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) Heinz-Christian Strache cast his vote in Vienna as Austria's general election got underway, Sunday. He was seen headed into a polling station in the city's third district, while accompanied by his mother.
In brief comments to the press after casting his ballot, Strache said he aims to «gain greater trust and hopefully achieve the historical best result for the Freedom party,» although hoping that «perhaps more is possible.»
Strache is forecast to finish third in the elections, closely running behind the conservative People's Part (OVP) candidate Sebastian Kurz, and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPO) candidate and current Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern.
