Special Issue On Milestones In Computer Algebra (MICA 2008): The Research And Influence Of Keith Geddes
Aim and Scope ------------- In May 2008, the MICA 2008 conference was held to celebrate the research ideas and influence of Keith Geddes. Over his 40-year career, Keith's research has spanned the areas of numerical approximation, algebraic algorithms for symbolic computation, hybrid symbolic-numeric computation and the design and implementation of computer algebra systems. He is perhaps best known as co-founder of the Maple computer algebra system. Through his teaching, research and software, the work of Keith Geddes has touched millions of individuals.
The MICA conference had an impressive set of contributions in the form of invited talks, extended abstracts, and posters. This special issue of the Journal of Symbolic Computation aims to
capture in-depth versions and extensions of work presented at the conference, and any other work related to the themes of MICA and the interests of Keith Geddes.

Submission
Guidelines --------------------- Papers accepted to this special issue must meet the usual high standards of research and exposition of the Journal of Symbolic Computation. Following JSC guidelines, the introduction of all papers must clearly identify the nature of the problems solved and their importance, the contributions of previous work and of the submitted paper, and the originality and inherent difficulty of the work. All submitted papers will be refereed
according to the usual JSC refereeing process.
