Неофициальное вещание Либерия 9525, STAR Radio, 0733-0800* May 28, seemed to only be STAR Radio programming and not Cotton Tree News (CTN). Poor, due to QRM from the return of VOI, with their continual music & ID loop. They had been up on 11785 for about the past three weeks. Even if CTN can solve their technical difficulties, it will make for challenging reception now that VOI is also here. At 0800 VOI started their English segment. IDs "This is the Voice of Indonesia, Jakarta" (Ron Howard, Monterey, CA - dxldyg 28/05/2007) 9525 Star Radio?, 07:20-07:41, escuchada el 26 de Mayo en ingles a locutor y locutora con comentarios y referencias a Liberia, musica etnica y afro-pop, SINPO 45444. (J. M. Romero, Burjasot, Spain - hard-core-dx 28/05/2007) 9525, STAR Radio via Ascension, 0738-0744 May 30, following CTN, "Liberia Today", STAR Radio news bulletin; May 31, 0727-0800*, no CTN programming today, "Liberia Today" followed by interesting program calling for Liberian refugees to return home, interviews with returned refugees telling about conditions in Liberia today ("Security all right"), "STAR Contact" program, VOI not on the air today; June 1, 0726-0745, only STAR Radio programming heard, again no VOI (Ron Howard, Monterey, CA - dxldyg 02/06/2007) США/Иран Radio Farda on 9865 at 0405 in Farsi w/dance mx. Tuned thru' 31m again at 0435 and no Farda, altho' it's listed until 0600. 1 June. (Liz Cameron, MI - dxldyg 01/06/2007) Сьерра-Леоне 9525, Cotton Tree News (CTN) via Ascension, 0733-0735 May 30, tuned in to hear news item in English about the National Electoral Commission (presidential and parliamentary elections coming up in August), "This is CTN with news and information from Freetown, Sierra Leone", about three minutes of silence, then into STAR Radio programming. Still having technical difficulties. There was some echoing but still listenable. (Jerry Lenamon, Waco, Texas - dxldyg 30/05/2007) I observed the following Dr. Gene Observations on 29 May. Costa Rica: 5030.01 at 0046 6149.97 at 0300 9725.03 at 0046 (9725.06 at 2300+) Anguilla: 6090 and 11775 not heard. I could not hear SW R Africa on 11775 from 1700-1900. I also couldn't hear Nigeria on 6090 unfortunately, unlike other list members. USA: 5935 at 0300 strong at S5 13845 at 0046 strong at S4 I haven't heard 11810 here for awhile either. (Liz Cameron, MI, USA - dxldyg 30/05/2007) Here are the results of monitoring ~ 6090 kHz, in the absence of University Network, from 0258 until 1200 UTC on 30 May 2007. The entire spectrum from 5945 to 6135 kHz was recorded overnight via a RFSpace SDR-14 receiver and a Wellbrook ALA-100. 6089.95 R Bandeirantes, Sao Paulo, Brazil - Presumed due to Portuguese talk, but no ID ever heard. Alone on the channel at 0258 tune-in at poor to fair levels. Peaking to very good levels from 0930 until 0938 UTC during sunrise at transmitter, then slowly fading until carrier dropped below the noise floor by 1050 UTC. 6089.85 R Nigeria, Kaduna, Nigeria - carrier on at 0418 UTC but no real audio noted until just after 0500 UTC, which is sunrise at the transmitter, with Kaduna signal rising to equal levels with Bandeirantes. Talks by man and woman in presumed Hausa interspaced with African vocals every 10 minutes or so until 0530, when format changed to all vocals. Presumed news at 0600. Signal began slowly fading at 0610 after being at equal or slightly better levels with Brazil for over an hour. Carrier was still visible past 0730, 2.5 hours after sunset! 6089.94 UnID - a weak carrier, slightly variable, began to be noticeable just below Bandeirantes around 0600 but gaining strength rapidly until it was within 10 dB of Bandeirantes, and almost equal during peaks. No audio discerned and carrier began to fade rapidly by 0800 and no longer visible by 0900. One possibility is R Veritas, Liberia which Africalist shows to sign on at 0545. Although sunrise at Monrovia is around 0630, the carrier not disappearing beneath the noise floor until around 0900 would closely mirror my observation of Kaduna's carrier not disappearing until 2.5 hours after transmitter sunset. Other observations: no sign of R Esperanza, Temuco, Chile. I was also looking for any sign of reported R Universal, Cusco, Peru, listed on Latin American SW Logs site as being heard in March 07 on 6089.2 kHz. Nothing seen at by 1200 tune out. 88.500 Radio Zeta (Rapallo-Saltincielo-GE) SPENTA 90.600 Babboleo Suono (Zoagli-S. (J. M. Romero, Burjasot, Spain - playdx2003 03/06/2007) Куба The Dentro-Cuban Jamming Command continues to mess up frequencies other than those they are targeting, and do they care? Of course not! May 29 at 0022 I found jamming pulsing away harmonically on 18090, which is 3 x 6030 against R. Marti. I also heard very weak audio on 18000, but could not be sure it was // RHC 6000 or the other station it was colliding with on the fundamental. Then at 0024 found on 17730 exactly the same jamming pulses as on 18060, but here spreading to 17725, bothering WYFR in Portuguese, and to 17735. This is what we tend to call ``bubble jamming`` but without the tones since there is no carrier to beat against. 18090 is common, but never heard 17730 before, which is 3 x 5910 against R. Republica via Germany, and it was also heavily jammed on the fundamental. BTW, RHC on 17705 with music in Spanish had a good signal. At 0052 I heard similar pulses on 6235 but can`t pin this on Cuba as mixing products of 49mb jamming and/or broadcast transmitters. At 0109, heard 12060 pulses, the second harmonic of 6030 to go along with the third on 18090 (Glenn Hauser, MLPDX, OK - dxldyg 29/05/2007) -- Пираты Date 21/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 6.220,0 1718 Mystery Radio 34433 7 6.275,0 1835 Skyline Radio Germany 24433 7 6.295,0 1702 Klub KW 24333 7 Date 22/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 6.307,0 1554 unid 24433 7 Date 23/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 3.930,0 1924 Radio Boomerang 54444 9+10d 6.310,0 1737 Free Radio Holland 23322 6 9.290,0 2005 Radio Mi Amigo 45444 9+10d Date 24/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 6.310,0 1802 Radio Likedeeler 23322 5 Date 25/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 1.636,0 2226 Radio Tijdbreker 34333 8 6.878,0 1602 Pirate Music 23333 6 Date 26/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 1.655,0 2108 Radio Barones 33443 8 3.910,0 2125 WMR 12331 5 6.220,0 1610 Mystery Radio 34433 8 6.220,0 1940 Mystery Radio 33443 8 6.255,0 2200 KBC Radio 54444 9+10d 6.275,0 1104 Laser Hot Hits 24322 6 6.310,0 0718 Free Radio Holland 24433 7 6.400,0 1925 WMR 34433 8 6.878,0 0740 Pirate Music 24333 7 9.290,0 1109 Radio Casablanca WS 45444 9+10d Date 27/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 3.928,0 1957 Antonio Radio 44333 9 3.945,0 1940 WMR 23322 6 6.206,0 0630 unid 13321 5 6.220,0 0548 Mystery Radio 24433 7 6.220,0 1905 Mystery Radio 34433 9 6.400,0 0540 WMR 23322 6 6.400,0 1950 WMR 23322 6 6.878,0 2030 Pirate Music 33443 8 Date 28/05 FrequencyTime Utc/Gmt Station SINPO SWERT QTH: Remark 6.290,0 0714 Radio Boomerang 54444 9+10d 6.310,0 0710 Free Radio Holland 34433 8 (Achim Bruecner, Germany - playdx2003 28/05/2007) - 6925 USB PIRATE WTCR, Twentieth Century Radio, 0140--0158*, strong with some QRN, music by the Eagles, Elvis Costello, announced Belfast address. 6875 PIRATE The Crystal Ship, 0232-0245, playing punk rock including the Ramones. I can't find any ID for the PATHFINDER voice callsigns, except one entry as B-52, but I don't believe that this PATHFINDER 31 is one of them. Just after the selcal check ALE showed up. Maybe it was related to the voice comms, as the the ALE-ident (E31605IGM) had a 31 too, but that could be a random event. BTW, what means the IGM suffix. Usually we saw the E31 idents ending with a DAT (that means what ??) IGM maybe "International Gxxxx Mission" ??, Int'l G8 Meeting ?; I remember that I read that the G8 meeting in Germany (June) will be secured by an AWACS). Lajes called E31605 later, but they used the usual DAT suffix, without any reply from E31605. Any ideas whats going on ? The move follows the ending of a state broadcasting monopoly last year. It was taken at a four-day government seminar held by Prime Minister Lansana Kouyate to chart policies to haul Guinea out of political and economic crisis. The world's top bauxite exporter was shaken in the first two months of this year by violent strikes and riots in which 137 people were killed, mostly civilians shot by security forces. Kouyate was appointed premier by President Lansana Conte in February in a political deal to end the strikes led by union bosses who said Conte, a reclusive diabetic in his 70s, was unfit to rule after 23 years in power. The seminar, which wrapped up at the weekend, listed the new government's immediate priorities as restoring peace, national reconciliation and economic stability, creating jobs and delivering basic services and working towards the holding of free and fair legislative elections, foreseen for December. "To reinforce freedom of expression in a positive spirit of inclusive participatory democracy, the government has decided to grant between now and the end of 2007 frequencies and licences to more than a dozen private radios," an official statement released on Monday said. Since the end of the broadcasting monopoly last year, at least four private radios had been granted licences. But several of these were forced to temporarily go off the air or halt live news broadcasts in February, when martial law declared by Conte allowed the armed forces to control the media. At least one station, Liberty FM, was ransacked by soldiers, who briefly detained two staff members. Media freedoms were restored when martial law ended under the consensus deal that allowed Kouyate's appointment. Even before the February crackdown, Guinea ranked 109 in the 168-nation 2006 Press Freedom Index published by press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders. Kouyate, a respected diplomat, faces heavy public pressure to improve the living standards of ordinary Guineans, who despite Guinea's mineral riches, mostly live in abject poverty. "The prime minister reminded the seminar that the hopes placed in this government are immense and that people's demands are more and more pressing," the government statement said. The four days of government meetings were held at Boffa, on the coast more than 100 km (60 miles) northwest of Conakry. Kouyate said last month that after the turmoil earlier this year, Guinea was not ready for parliamentary polls due to be held in June, and these were postponed for six months. http://africa.reuters.com/wire/news/usnL28393516.html (Mike Terry, UK - dxldyg 29/05/2007) Индия Listening to old melodies of KL Sehgal or latest tunes from Himmesh Reshammiya would now be possible in far west United States or on the interior of Indo-China border. In a quality better than FM radio. It will all happen with All India Radio (AIR) planning to go digital. “We have started a pilot project to provide digital signals to radio audience in the country. The quality would be as clear as playing music at your home,” said Brajeshwar Singh, Director-General AIR. The digital service will be available through internet via webcasting and as radio signal till a distance of 20,000 kilometres in a crystal clear sound. But the biggest stumbling block for the masses to listen to fine quality radio transmission is the high cost digital radio sets. Each set costs about Rs 12,000. But, Singh expects the price to go down once the use of radio digital signal improves. Till, the technology becomes popular the AIR will provide the signal in both analog and digital mode. This will mean that there will be a signal for conventional radio sets along with one for digital radio sets. Once the transition from analog to digital is complete, the analog signal will not be available. “It will take seven to eight years,” Singh said. AIR on Thursday conducted a presentation for Information and Broadcasting ministry secretary A Swarup on digital phase of AIR. The pilot project started from a transmission station near Delhi University is first of its kind in the country. “Although 38 countries in the world has used digital mode for external transmission, India would be the first country to use the technology for national transmission,” AS Guin, Engineer-in-Chief of AIR. The cost of converting entire AIR network on digital is high but the government expects to get approval of Planning Commission for this futuristic project soon. Under the pilot project, Delhi radio station is available on digital mode as well as analog mode. “We have divided the bandwith into two channels. One part is digital and other is analog. People who want to listen to better quality sound can opt for the digital signal” an AIR official said. ///////////// (http://www.hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/StoryPage.aspx?id=4d76fbf2-5c7c-43c0-84d3-251a152d0787&MatchID1=4467&TeamID1=2&TeamID2=4&MatchType1=1&Series ID1=1110&PrimaryID=4467&Headline=AIR+to+turn+digital+for+world+audience) (sathi vel, India - dxldyg 28/05/2007) -- Интернет -- QSL Бангладеш QSL from Bangladesh Betar Dear Friends, Today on 30th of May, I received a nice detailed QSL verification card depicting paddy field applying traditional irrigation technique verified by Mahesh Chandra Roy from Bangladesh Betar for my detailed email reception report on 7th of January 2007 from 1330-1400 UTC on the frequency of 4750 kHz of their Bengali language broadcast.
