The original transmitter had been shut down in 2000, transmissions via this antenna revived in early 2006 with a transferred transmitter from Julich. 125/250 kW are the ALLISS units from 1997, abandoned by Deutsche Welle on April 30, leaving only the above shown transmissions at Nauen for the time being. Family Radio considerably expanded its transmissions via Wertachtal as of May 1. The following frequencies have been added, all using 500 kW (at times four transmitters simultaneously!): 1600-1659 on 13620 (120 deg.), to be expanded to 1600-1900 from May 15; 1800-1859 on 11600 (150 deg.), 11855 (120 deg.) and 13820 (135 deg.); 1900-1959 on 9495 (120 deg.); 1900-2000 on 7180 (150 deg.) and 13780 (210 deg.); 1900-2200 on 9610 (180 deg.); 2000-2059 on 9735 (150 deg.); 2000-2100 on 5975 (180 deg.); 2000-2200 on 11610 (210 deg.); 2100-2159 on 9720 (180 deg.); 2100-2200 on 5915 (150 deg.); 2200-2300 on 7115 (210 deg.), 9620 (180 deg.) and 9720 (195 deg.) Three more transmissions will start on May 15: 1600-1659 on 15705 (165 deg.), 1700-1759 on 11875 (120 deg.) and 1800-1859 on 13730 (165 deg.). Other changes: ELF (no explanation for this abbr. at hand right now) via Julich Thu only 1700-1759 has been moved from 13630 to new 15315, AWR via Julich 2030-2100 has been moved from 9610 to 9565. Bible Voice Broadcasting 1700-1800 on 11945 and AWR 1730-1800 on 17575 no longer via Flevo, now Wertachtal with 100 kW and 250 kW, respectively, instead. TWR will add from May 28 to July 29 only a transmission 1807-1840 on 5910, Julich towards 130 deg. (Kai Ludwig, Germany - dxldyg 03/05/2007) Новая Зеландия RNZI normally makes some winter schedule changes on the first Sunday in May, and indeed have posted the new schedule along with the old one. This finally acknowledges that DRM takes a break at 1259-1456 (from http://www.rnzi.com via Glenn Hauser, UT May 4, dxldyg 04/05/2007) I see there is a one-hour gap with nothing on at 2258-2359, surely another typo of theirs as I copied and pasted this sked before cleaning it up. The previous (current) sked shows the same AM/DRM swap occurring at 2358. (Torbjorn, Nykoping, Sweden - udxf 01/05/2007) an unid italian net on 4900 kHz: ---------------------------------- Often active at afternoons, starting around 1900/2000 UTC: They used "normal civilized language", HAM-like slang, sounded really not like the usual pirate operators, freebanders or fishermen. Maybe any voice net of the Italian Civil Protection? But I don't think they are, as they speak nearly exclusive about radio technics, not much "private blabla-chats", so ... ... another idea would be (if a legal net ?!): As some player use LSB, USB or AM; Frequencies were moving a bit over the time Maybe they use old historic equipment? Maybe that is a special "radio collector" net? I remember to read about such a net of a "surplus/military radio equipment collectors club" from Norway with special licenced frequencies around 2-7 MHz for their members. But I never saw any logging anywhere, not in WUN nor UDXF... And sadly I can't find any www link or any message about them. I think it was once in the WUN list, long long time ago, but sadly after moving from WUN to the UDXF list, we lost the opportunity for a message search from the yahoogroups page (...) And interesting, heard refers to "Norway" in their discusssion?!? Players heard so far: 1AT, 2LG, 3DZ (?), DI (?), NA (?) etc. OP: Walter, Franco, Luciano etc. They speak from "Zona 1", "Zona 3". BTW, the amateur radio calls in Italy are also divided in zones. Simular system used here too. Any ideas? Today they said "til tomorrow", maybe any of our Italian members could monitor and identify them. My Italian is much too poor to understand what going on exactly... Although the SNRs are similar to yesterday's on 2217 kHz, the signal on 3226 is not coming from the same direction. This one is consistently from 310 to 330 from SW England, so XSS does not always come from the same site. Yesterday the bearings were around 240/250. A subscriber to dx_uti_fr claims to have found supporting evidence to link XSS with the UK military, but although he gave me a link, I was unable to find anything there apart from a post of mine to WUN in August 2005. It is one of the oldest broadcasts in the Afro-Arab world. It is established in 1940 with limited transmission, presented news, songs, cultural and social programmes, then developed to present programmes, tackle the daily life in Sudan, particularly in the rural areas. On 19 December 1955, the Sudanese broadcasting station covered the celebration of declaring SudanO~s Independence from inside the Parliament. In 1962, Juba broadcasting station was opened as the first regional broadcasting institution, then this was followed by Atbara (River Nile State), Wad Medani (Gezira), El Obeid (North Kordufan), Nyala (South Darfur) Kassala (Kassala State), Port Sudan (Red Sea), El-Fashir (North Darfur), in addition to the private broadcasting stations which appeared recently such as Mango 96, FM 100, FM (104), etc. Radio Omdurman as one of the national mass-media organs plays vital role in tackling and discussing political, socio-economic and cultural issues through different programmes, interviews, reports, analysis, joining all parts of Sudan with its continuous transmission which witnessed technological advancement in its organs, equipment as well as manpower, besides its huge library that feeds the different sections of the broadcasting and even the regional stations with different materials for several decades. Prominent journalists, media men and women, who joined Radio Omdurman had put their own stigma on the broadcasting as pure Sudanese talents. Some of them now are working in international broadcasting establishments such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Voice of Germany Deutsche Welle besides the Gulf broadcasting stations and some African stations honouring Sudan with their distinguished performance. Great congratulations to the National Sudanese Broadcasters and its sisters in the different States for their comprehensive, integrated, worldwide, serious coverage and linking of all the Sudanese States as well as with the regional and international stations of the world.
