Radio Nacional Angola(p) 7216.8 most likely the one here at
2150. Has English sked at 2200 (or so EiBi says), but it's so darn
weak it'll be hard to tell. Lots of slop around the frequency, best
here in USB. 10 March 2007. (Steve Lare, Holland, MI, Usa - dxldyg 1237, 12/03/2007)

Checking for LRA36, March 14 at 1910, I was only able to detect
a carrier on 15476 (not 15475), occasionally reaching S4 above the local S3
noise level, but this marks another day it was evidently on the air (Glenn Hauser, OK - dxldyg 1239, 14/03/2007)

15345, RAE, 2333-2355*, March 12 (Mon.), live music concert
with sound of the audience clapping (per their website: "Musica Viva -
Republica” and “RAE”, 2352 IS loop, with “RAE, Argentina” IDs, good-fair
(Ron Howard, Monterey, CA, Eton E5 - dxldyg 1237, 12/03/2007)

(Arnaldo Slaen, Argentina - playdx2003 #1286, 17/03/2007)

R. Solh continues to play that catchy theme tune without
fail every day at 1451-1457 UT on 15265. In A-07 this transmission from
Rampisham makes the usual switch to 17700 and expands to 1200-1800, so we`ll
see if the same music keeps running on that frequency (Glenn Hauser, March 14 - dxldyg 1239, 14/03/2007)

4716.7, Radio Yura, 1000-1015 Noted a male and female in Spanish comments during the period. Signal was fair with noise.

4885, Radio Clube do Par?, Bel?m, 0640-0650, 12-03.

(Manuel Mendez, Lugo, Spain - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

4865.03, Radio Florestas,(pres) *1032-1045 Noted Interval type signal for a minute, then at 1033 male in Brazilian comments. Didn't have signal tuned in well

enough yet to hear details. Following a minute of comments, music for rest of period. Signal remained poor.

11805 R Globo talks at 2132 a pitch, mention in maracas and a S7
sinal . at 2147 two speakers on a footwall program 2150 talking on
Palusta Amoroso , short siren at 215430 . DI as R globo at 2155 with
a very enthusiastic tone . 34534
Audio pack with two files in zip format is available at
http://savefile.com/files/553105

11815 R B Cental ,prg R de Brazil? at 2041 in //11830 and signal S3-5 .

S5-6 34333 being in //11815. nothing on 2125+ (Z. Liangas, Greece - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

Carlos Gon?alves has reported R. Cultura, S?o Paulo active, but I
had not been able to pull this low-power station above the home QTH noise
level. So looked for it on low-noise Meadowlake Park DXpedition, Enid, and
could detect some vocal music on 17815, March 17 at 2324-2330+, still weak and
not enough signal to light up any strength bars on the DX-398 and whip.
Unfortunately, the reel-out antenna I brought along didn`t work as when plugged
into the jack, there was no connexion but the whip was bypassed. Next time:
bring alligators to clip onto whip (Glenn Hauser, MLPDX, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 20, 17/03/2007)

3365 Radio Cultura, Araraquara, SP, 0011-0016, March 16, Portuguese, Reactivated!!!
Romantic songs in portuguese, 23332 (Arnaldo Slaen, Argentina - playdx2003 #1286, 17/03/2007)

4914.96 R. Difusora Macapa, 0712 end of ZY Pop Ballad, then
complete canned ID w/calls by M and sev. promo/IDs. Back to ZY Rom. Ballad
then. Huge clear signal peaking at S-10. Nice modulation. Don?t think
I?ve ever heard it this well. Better than 4985 Brazil Central!!
(Dave Valko - hard-core-dx 51, 21, 18/03/2007)

Габон
Others have noted that ANU and the Afropop Music Distraxion are not
always on air at same time, but they were March 12 at 1500 on 17630 with
accurate timesignal, ANU ID; and music continuing on 17660
(Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007

4779.97 R. Cultural Coatán 1141-1207+ Mar 18. Two gentlemen
discussing religion and the Bible in local language to 1200; then a
series of anmts in Spanish. The only ID heard was at 1201 as "Estás
escuchando Estéreo Coatán". VG signal although fading after 1200.
(J. Wilkins, Colorado, Usa - CumbreDX 1884, 18/03/2007)

RTV GUINEENNE CONAKRY

(F. Cecconi, Italy - NoticiasDX 1569, 18/03/2007)

Германия
DW loud and clear here on 15275 in English news at 1902 March
14, despite being 142 degrees from Sines per HFCC, and only a semihour
broadcast now, roughly off the back (Glenn Hauser, OK - dxldyg 1239, 14/03/2007)

DW Hausa, 17800 via Rwanda, March 14 at 1346 was spelling out
address in Bonn, ``Germany``. Isn`t there a Hausa word for Germany, perhaps
totally incognate like in Hungarian, Portuguese, Finnish? Former British
colonial influence in Nigeria must have led to this oddity. Or is it just that
English country terminology is encouraged in international mail? (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 18, 16/03/2007)

Греция
As Wolfgang B?schel also noted on 11645, VOG via SVO on 15630 seems
finally to have eliminated the transmitter dropoffs. March 12 at 1414-1422 I
left the BFO on the very weak signal and never heard an interruption; by 1442
it was better in Greek talk (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

ERA via SVO, 5865, with nice arrangement of IS, multilingual IDs
already at 2355 March 17; no dropouts. Considerably weaker than // Avlis 7475,
which was weaker than 9420 (Glenn Hauser, MLPDX, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 20, 17/03/2007)

5865, V. of Greece, via SVO, Olympia Radio,
0150, 3/18/07. Folk songs at tune-in. Announcements @
0157. Vocal selection at 0158 but very low audio.
Short announcement by YL @ 0300:30 followed by several
orchestral selections. Signal had fading and coupled
with generally high band noise made understanding
studio audio impossible although signal made S6 on
peaks (J. Strawman, IA - CumbreDX 1884, 18/03/2007)

13362/U AFN/AFRTS; 2149, 12-Mar; NPR All Things Considered.
SIO=152-; //12133.5/U via Key West, SIO=2+33+, swiper & trill QRM
(Harold Frodge, MI, Usa - CumbreDX 1876, 14/03/2007)

5009.78, R. Pueblo, Santo Domingo, 1113-1135+ March 9,
tune-in to man singing a cappella. 1115 ID and several minutes of Spanish talk,
then back to more Spanish a cappella singing. Poor in noise (Brian Alexander, Mechanicsburg PA - dxldyg 1243, 17/03/2007)

Египет
R. Cairo, 11950, English to NAm broadcast doing better than before,
March 17 at 2333 in Arabic choral music, almost as strong as Arabic service
12050, but some ACI from Spain 11945. 0025 recheck March 18, 11950 was almost
gone tho 9360 to LAm was in well with more Arabic music (Glenn Hauser, MLPDX, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 20, 17/03/2007)

7270 R. Cairo 0207-0225 Mar 17. EG pgm "The Holy Koran and its
Meaning" in progress; pips to 0215:14(!), time check ("It's 4:15 in
Cairo"), followed by 10 minutes of news. Decent signal but hard to
understand the soft-voiced ancrs. (John Wilkins, Wheat Ridge, Colorado - CumbreDX 1883, 17/03/2007)

RASD, *0700-0725+ March 9, sign-on with NA, 0701-0707 Kor`an, Arabic talk music; good
(Brian Alexander, Mechanicsburg PA - dxldyg 1243, 17/03/2007)

3396, R Zimbabwe blasting in 0315, and recheck at 0350 to 0400.
(Robert Wilkner, Florida - CumbreDX 1876, 14/03/2007)

3396 ZBC, Gweru, 0018-0025, March 16, Vernacular, pops, short ann. by male in vernacular, 23322
(Arnaldo Slaen, Argentina - playdx2003 #1286, 17/03/2007)

Индия
9445 All India Radio; 2208-2217+, 12-Mar; News to ID @2210,
then cmtry on Chinese defense budget. 2216 music after ID. All in EE.
SIO=353-; //11620, SIO=2+43-; 9445 a bit better.
(Harold Frodge, MI, Usa - CumbreDX 1876, 14/03/2007)

AIR (Bangalore) 15175 at 1530z 500 kw to Ea Africa
in Gujarati (couldn't prove it by me). Gujarati is not a
local language in Ea Africa so there must be an expatriate
community as the target. I seldom hear trans polar signals
at this time of day (midmorning here GMT -5) with the 9000+
mile path from India about 55% darkness - 45 % daylight.
//11620 was not quite as strong as 19m with a slight delay
in audio. (Jerry Lenamon, Waco Texas - dxldyg 1243, 17/03/2007)

11785, VOI, 1547-1619, March 13, non-stop loop of music and
VOI IDs, 1601 into Arabic programming, reciting from the Qu’ran, some pop
music. As good as formerly heard on 9526. Good-fair (Ron Howard, Monterey, CA - dxldyg 1238, 13/03/2007)

4605, RRI Serui, 0900-0910 Noted music for a few minutes until a male
comments in Indonesian language. Signal was poor. A followup check at 1120 showed that the signal was fair and much more audible.
(Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

4790, RRI Fak Fak, 0905-0915 Noted music until 0909 when female comments in Indonesian Language. Signal was poor.
(Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

4750, RRI Makassar. 1015-1025 Typical Islamic type singing and reciting together by male. Believe I heard the religious terms mentioned every once in awhile.

Signal was fair. A followup at 1123 indicated about the same signal strength. (Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

11784.86 1600-2100 UT. Usually VoINS missed on Fridays on past
weeks. Today Fri March 16th appeared to ME/NE/EUR, but with wrong procedure.
Two audio feeds noted in parallel when checked around 1640 til now at 1735
UT. Both programmes La Voz de Indonesia in Spanish as well as Voice of
Indonesia in Arabic heard on very same odd frequency. Lazy behaviour is a
matter of protest against transmission on Holy Friday? (Wolfgang Bueschel, Germany - hard-core-dx 51, 18, 16/03/2007)

The primary threesome of 60mb RRI stations were coming
in well March 15 at 1322, no doubt better earlier than almost an hour after
sunrise now, each with a different variety of ``island`` music: 4605 Serui,
stronger than another local mixing product // KCRC 1390 on 4600; 4750 stronger
than 4605; and 4790 somewhere in between marred by CODAR. No trace of
MICRONESIA 4755 (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 18, 16/03/2007)

3266.42 RRI Gorontalo (p) 1200-1226* Mar 17. Jakarta nx relay
to 1213, then local programming (M ancr, vocals) to 1226, when the plug
was unceremoniously pulled. Fair at tune-in and improving by closedown.
(John Wilkins, Colorado, Usa - CumbreDX 1883, 17/03/2007)

3266.6 INDONESIA RRI Gorontalo, Sulawesi;
Light island vocal ballads @1148; 1158 IS, Woman in INDO
with ID; news by man in INDO @1200 (Wiseblood-TX 3/18/2007 - hard-core-dx 51, 21)

3345 INDONESIA RRI Ternate; talk by Man in INDO @ 1132;
S. ASIAN vocal ballad @1206 (Wiseblood-TX 3/18/2007 - hard-core-dx 51, 21)

4749.97, RRI Makassar, 1258, 3/18/07. pop
ballads through TOH. Announcements @ 1301:30. Best
signal on band. With exception of Rebelde, only signal
on band by 1327 (J. Strawman, IA - CumbreDX 1884, 18/03/2007)

Испания
REE, 17595, Fri March 15 at 1330 in Castilian, introducing
``informativos en Catal?n, Gallego y Vasco``, and immediately into Catalan
news; no mention of ``lenguas co-oficiales`` --- I wonder whether this term is
no longer politically correct? At 1335 into Galician with its sea-shanty
musical intro. So I conclude the triad are finished by 1345, then back into the
fourth co-official language. In A-07 these shift about an hour earlier, but
it`s not clear if they will be exactly at 1230-1245 M-F. Really, these three
languages deserve a lot more on REE than 5 minutes a day each, which can only
be considered token. I enjoy listening to Catalan and Galician, to see how much
I can understand from my knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese; and Basque for
the occasional Spanish words (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 18, 16/03/2007)

Канада
March 17 at 1332 on 6754-SSB was hearing terminal forecasts for
places such as Zagreb, Split, Ancona - something; at 1334, ID sounded like
``This is Transamerica, Inc.,`` and then to Shannon, Prestwick. However, per
numerous logs in UDXF on 6754, this must have been just Trenton Military, Ont.
I would not have expected to hear weather for Croatia on this station, but I
guess they have some flights headed there, and at this hour it would not have
been something directly from Europe (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 20, 17/03/2007)

Китай
6065, CNR-2/CBR, 1333-1356, March 13, “Studio Classroom Worldwide”
with story about Justin, who recently moved to Taipei, Taiwan. Audio of this
and other programs are on-line at:
http://studioclassroom.com/sc/sc_radio.php This is a segment of the one-hour
“English Evening” program (1300-1400), fair.

5985, CRI, 1622-1637, March 13, in Swahili to E. Africa. Mostly talking,
some highlife music, fair-good (Ron Howard, Monterey, CA - dxldyg 1238, 13/03/2007)

4460, Central People's Broadcasting Station, 1117-1130 With a female in Chinese comments, the signal was at a poor level. No other activity observed.
(Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

R. Lider active again, tnx for Manuel Mendez tip, on 6139.8 or so,
March 12 at 0510 with music on a frequency otherwise vacant, but for how long?
Previous active periods lasted less than a week, then silent for months (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

6139.79, R. Líder, Bogotá, 0405-0430+ March 11, reactivated.
Spanish pop music, ballads. IDs between each song. Strong, audio slightly
distorted. Winning the battle against a weaker Cuba on 6140. Best in ECSS-LSB
(Brian Alexander, Mechanicsburg PA - dxldyg 1243, 17/03/2007)

Куба
Reception from RHC has really declined on certain bands for some
strange reason, maybe solar flux bottoming out at 70. March 12 at 1430 I had
just about decided RHC was off the air on several frequencies, but by 1444 in
Formalmente Informal music, it was audible on 15370, which is normally a
behemoth here overloading the receiver, but now so weak as to be mixing with
some other signal. Still could not hear it on 15190, and 11760 was totally
blocked by something in Chinese from Asia, but RHC audible on 12000, 11805, and
poorly on 9550 (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

Hmong Lao Radio confirmed shifted one UT hour earlier, for DST
in Minnesota, 1356 UT Sunday March 11, still on WHRI 11785 as it was about to
close. So Sat & Sun 1300-1400 (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

4845 Radio Mauritania, Nouackchott, 0026-0032, March 16, Vernacular, very long talk by male, 24432
(Arnaldo Slaen, Argentina - playdx2003 #1286, 17/03/2007)

7270, Wai FM (RTM), 1342-1408, March 17, YL DJ in
vernacular, pop songs, ToH usual announcements, news, poor/QRM/PBS Nei
Menggu (presumed). Slightly better than PBS. After PBS moved here in the
middle of 2006, I never could heard Wai FM under PBS, so this was a nice
surprise (Ron Howard, Monterey, CA - dxldyg 1243, 17/03/2007)

6049.65 Asyik FM via Kajang 1258-1325 Mar 17. Presumed with M
ancr chatting in lang. to 1312 (no ToH break); a vocal number at 1312 was
followed by M and W ancrs chatting and taking a couple of phone calls.
Good signal. (J. Wilkins, Colorado, Usa - CumbreDX 1883, 17/03/2007)

15340/15335 RTM Arabic not in sync.
15340 at 1145 UT, via Medi I Nador site [S=7] towards NoAF, NE, and ME, is
1.5 second behind RTM 15335 kHz signal via IBB Briech (Tangiers) site.
Latter powerful signal into Europe of S=9+30 dB powerhouse.

RTM Briech (Tangiers) 15335 1100-1500 250kW 27degrees
35 32 56.22 N 05 57 53.43 W

Medi I Nador site 15340 0900-1500 250kW 110degrees
(Wolfgang Bueschel, Germany - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

RTM, 15335, March 14 at 1338, YL speaking very expressively in
Arabic; QRM de clix leaking over from DentroCuban jammer on 15330 (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 18, 16/03/2007)

4830//4895 on 2236 being in exact parallel transmission
with just short phase out . Classical / instrumental music . Diversity
testing with R75 and HF150 (Z.Liangas, Greece - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

BBC via Oman in Arabic, 6030kHz, on March 10, 2007, at 1800Z. Very strong
signal, S=9+20dB - one could imagine the target area is Northern Europe...
(Matti Ponkamo, Naantali, Finland - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

3315.10, Radio Manus, 1100-1110 Noted a person in English

(Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL - hard-core-dx 51, 17, 15/03/2007)

3335, Radio East Sepik, 1103-1110, Comments from

VOA in French, March 14 at 1912 on 17580 with a big long-path echo.
Big, because this is Greenville per EiBi (not in original HFCC B-06), so long
path is some 38 megameters, since short path is only two, one of my best
terrestrial DX catches, strictly speaking. It`s aimed east toward Africa but
also with the usual back-radiation, which however at the moment was not strong
enough to override the signal coming the long way around (Glenn Hauser, OK - dxldyg 1239, 14/03/2007)

Yes...This seems to be their frequency, according to other monitors in Europe who have measured the signal today. Right now, at 2350 -I'm back home - there's a

het on 9620, Radio Esterior de Espana.
From their signal strength and the fq offset from nominal 9620 as monitored locally, this seems to be the same transmitter they had been using till their QRT about 8

months ago. Just a mere 350 watts. The only visible change for this resuming also in the 31mb is that they are not simulcasting CX6 (MW 650) here with classical mx

as before -a nonsense in SW with such low power-). This also means that sked is not 24h as before, as they close MW 1290 at 0300. s/on should be 1000.

Not really expecting to hear Radio ICDI,
6030, at its published sign-on 0500 Monday March 12, and I did not; instead,
vocal rock music across hourtop fading in and out, presumably CFVP Calgary,
which at 100 watts is always a notable catch itself, even if much closer, but
enough to block a signal from CAR if there was any. Much stronger Arabic on
6025 and something on 6035, Russian? did not help, either, tho the dentro- and
fuera-cubanos did co?perate by suspending their radio war for the occasion. As
for ICDI`s M-F 16-20 UT broadcast, it looks like that will be blocked in Europe
by BBC Oman, if not VOR Kaliningrad as well, but no problem in the target
area?? (Glenn Hauser, OK - hard-core-dx 51, 14, 12/03/2007)

Quite an interesting morning. I recorded 1470 overnight but woke around
4am and couldn't get back to sleep so I have a tune ;0)

Recordings:
1330 WWRV gave a nice local ID on the hour just after 05:00:
http://skywaves.info/documents/MW/1330%20WWRV%20New%20York%20NY%200502%2015-03-07%20JF.mp3

1420 WDJA was coming in really well before 06:00 with good peaks.
Naturally it It faded a bit for the top of the hour ID, but here it is
anyway:
http://skywaves.info/documents/MW/1420%20WDJA%20Delray%20Beach%20FL%200605%2015-03-07%20JF.mp3

Now get the headphones ...

1470 R Restauracion is a personal first and can be heard here:
http://skywaves.info/documents/MW/1470%20HJNT%20R%20Restauracion,%20Cali%200201%2015-03-07%20JF.mp3

I spent some time on 1490 after 05:30 as there was a real jumble of
stations. Oldies were heard, including The Everley Brothers "Dream", but
a lively Latin music station dominated. Now, tell me I've got
imaginative hearing but I think I can hear a "Radio Popular" ID here:
http://www.skywaves.info/mw/1490-0630-15-03-07.mp3 WACM in
Massachusettes has this ID and a slogan of "Mi Favorita". The bit
preceding "Radio Popular" vaguely sounds like WACM but this is far from
clear. I did, however, hear something like "mucho favorit" later though,
if that is grammatically correct. Now that's 'clutching at straws' for
you! ;0)

1140 WQBA Miami FL. “Agenda Cuba” programme. Thanks to Henrik Klemetz
for listening to my recording and confirming WQBA. Generally weak but a couple of fair peaks. F 0619 16/03 JF

The fall was very buzzy FOR ME and, although I got to do a considerable amount of DXing, I didn't had any chances to send complete logs since the last few

months, due to a complete lack of time due to the studies and the spent looking for airchecks of an awesome Parisian radio station as well as a girl I can't stop

thinking to. However, since I started writing this e-mail 4 months ago, a lot of things changed. I made up some friends in France, loosed some of the interest I had in

DX'ing (mainly because I had lots of compassion for a girl in my advanced Spanish class and she didn't want to be happy and anti-masochist as I am, I made a crisis

of identity and stopped listening almost anything in Spanish and spend most of my free time looking for airchecks of French stations). The depression du to that chick

also made my marks decreased and, in order to avoid a failure in something that, anyways, interested me more or less, I stopped the technical college. I plan to go

toward languages and will start German classes soon. All this means that DX'ing wasn't really high on my list, but things may always change, especially as far as late

season TA and LA condx are concerned or as far as the next e-skip FM DX season goes. Like some of you who were following my posts over Hard-Core DX

since the past few years (2000-2001) have saw, the DX bug is never completly healed and, speaking of heel, healing of something so complexe and so fascinating

such as how the ionosphere work acts on bringing on intriguing and unexpected foreign stuff on MW and SW is nearly impossible. That being said, I joined the NRC

last November, when I was still interested to a somewhat greater extent in MW DX'ing and this one is my FIRST REAL REPPORT. I would please a lot Bruce to

apologise for my absolute lack of contributions until now !

Some news: on the evening of Saturday, November 18, the "96.7 Sensacional" feed of the Radio Rebelde network was noted on several unusual channels such as

SW-5025. It's only the second time I hear this relay over shortwave. It's also the second time, I hear that on MW 670. Usually, this highly entertaining FM feed is

only relayed on MW 600, 710 (mixing with WOR here in Pierrefonds/Montreal) and 1180 kHz. However, as I write this, in spite of little listening, tuning to the

above-mentionated Rebelde channels, I was only treated to the booring delivery of the usual baseball games. It seems as if the Rebelde's La Sensacional schedule is

extremely erratic, meaning little luck to tune in to what is, along with the nearly-impossible Radio Nuevitas 103.5 (CMHL), my favorite Cuban target, as far as the

music and jingles-package are concerned.

But, as far as MW DX is concerned, the biggest news is the opening of CHOU 1450, an ethnic station playing lots of Middle-Eastern flavoured eurodance music.

Graveyarder as it is, its signal acted as a radiator for CFMB-1280 (another local) and I have a barely audible whistle of CFMB-1280 all across the empy QRGs,

using my trusty Sanyo MCD-S830 boombox portable receiver. The transmitter QTH was only 5 kilometers from my home QTH, in the industrial park of

Saint-Laurent (a suburb in the western part of the Montreal's Island just like Pierrefonds/Roxboro). I phoned the station and on subsequent checks, the band was

clear again. I wish good luck to all of you trying to pick this one up.

Otherwise, I didn't checked out the new local on 1650 that our dear collegue Shawn Axelrod got yesturday. However, the nearby 10 kW CFAV "Radio Boomer"

Quinze-Soixante-Dix is harming the lower half of the MW band. Also, as you probably can see, 80% of the unreported listening was done during the mid-to-late fall

of 2006. This year, very little DX'ing has been done yet, hence very few logs. That being said, there is some CFAV QRM on the lower SW QRGs (mostly around

the 160m ham band), but much less fewer than in the past. Dear Goerge Maroti, do you know any 120 or 90m Brazilians, Peruvians or Bolivians I could try during

average conditions ? Thanks a lot !

RQ-910 is having a new program on Sunday evenings. I haven't heard as of yet any mention of this px on any DX list. It is know as TALENTO NACIONAL.

Check it ou below or, even better give it a try on 910 kHz the next Sunday and tell me what do you think of. From Cape Cod, our colleague, Mark Connelly,

shouldn't have any problem checking this new terrific show, providing he don't have dutties at his Billerica home QTH.

Radio Quito was noted during the wee hours of Sunday, November 12, 2006. It was temporarily active and it was sadly missed on the subsequent early morning's

checks.

Of major interest for SW DX'ers, during the early evening of March 3, 2006, I briefly heard somewhat FAIR PEAKS on 6220 with rock and dance music.

Unfortunatly, the Europirate using this channel (!!) was killed by awful noises coming from an unkown source (a computer somewhere in the beighborhood, I'll guess),

so I couldn't secure an identification. It was only the second showing of this highly entertaining DX catche and, BY FAR, the best one. The least I can say, is that I did

have some of the music taped (unless I deleted some of it by mistake). A big thanks goes to George Maroti for having pointing out to me that Mystery Radio was the

strongest pirate at his Mount Kisko, NY QTH and for informing me that, although relatively weak, Laser Hot Hits is on the aire, around the clock !!!

Into the logs right now:

MEDIUMWAVE DX
Trans-Atlantic DX:

585 SPAIN, Radio Nacional de España, Madrid OCT 10 0010 - instrumental music played followed by man and woman talking about the music just played.

Almost fair -> SIO 243 with minor splatter from 580 and 590. Probably the best showing of this TA powerhouse this season yet (there are still 2 or 3 weeks until

April, so nothing is lost) and it would have been way much better, have the auroral disturbances not hit the Earth during the following days. +FEB 11 0226 - Talk

show about health issues with 60s and 70s sounding Female pop-rock vocals thrown in during the breaks in the chatter. Poor with moderate, but still-annoying

adjacent channel splatter. SIO 232-1. Still, condx for TA-DX were already beginning to improove, as have noted my dear Quebec City area's colleague, Sylvain

Naud (on MWDX). (Chiochiu-QC)

Pan-American DX:

550 VENEZUELA, YVKE, Caracas, Distrito Federal NOV 21 0215 - with CHLN Trois-Rivières nulled: IDs including "de la mano con el pueblo" slogan

followed by the "Noticiero Mundial" fairly lenghty newscast. NOV 21 0221 - One of the "Noticiero Mundial"'s items was actually very funny. Anti-chavists

manifestants shouting were recording and the announcer sayed for the Chavists to hurry up for voting, otherwise the anti-democratic opposition will be winning. This

reflects a lack of implicit analytical logic, since you don't need to understand the relatively utopic ideas nor the speach of Hugo Chávez, but his actual narcisistic

personality !!! Unfortunatly, he WINNED WAY (!!!!!) too easily and this mean that while some lazy people will be having a greater quality of live, not most of the

"real" people will be having a serious deal with both the physiologic and hedonistic aspects of everyday life and the economy will loose it's unique aspects that made

Venezuela such well regarded by foreigners. As far as DX'ing is concerned, it the third strongest YV in the Montreal area, after YVNM-780 and YVKS-750.

(Chiochiu-QC)

555 ST KITTS AND NEVIS, ZIZ, Basseterre DEC 7 0214 ? - 70s rock music with talkover by the announcer in and out of the mx, followed by a lover's rock

reggea track, which was followed by roots reggea track (a lovely track, in the style of Peter Tosh, but not as good as the music played on the sadly missed Aventure

FM 105.9, Paris, 1988 - is anyone having any tapes of this one ?). SINPO 32342 with "short-lenght deep fadings", but somewhat annoying CHLN-550

Trois-Rivières splatter. (Chiochiu-QC)

580 PUERTO RICO, WKAQ, San Juan OCT 23 0207 - Poor signal, "Está es La Informativa 580...mayor avancio informativo". I can't find the tape right now

and I should have sent the log right after I heard it to avoid a possibly unaccurately transcribed ID. Semi-regular this season ! Also heard several times in November

and December this season, though never really strong ! Very fluttery reception and fair at its best ! The Auroral openings around the 23rd of october and during

December definitively helped ! As far as the 23rd of October opening, I guess this solar flare was part of a game played by Aventure FM's ghost - hi !!! The demise

of this absolutely awesome French station still affects me in many ways !!! In any event, Puerto Rico is seldom received in Montreal ! (Chiochiu-QC)

640 VENEZUELA, YVQO, Unión Radio, Puerto-La Cruz, Anzoátegui DEC 7 0025 - besibol venezolano Los Leones de Caracas vs a Carabobo's team. Fair for

a couple of minutes, then slowly faded down to an incomprehensible jumble. A severe aurora disturbances harmed Latin American reception ALMOST as much as it

did with the northern domestic stuff. Still, I came accros this one wich is seldom heard nowadays. In 2002-2003, it was booming in at semi-local levels 1 night out of

2. Nowadays, I can barely hear them 2 or 3 times each season. Is anyone having any DX airchecks of Onda Porteñas 640 ? Back in the early 90s and earlier,

YVQO-640 was a tropical music station. I never found out anything much than a few stories and logs. Curious mind enquire

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Chiochiu-QC)

750 VENEZUELA, YVKS, Radio Caracas Radio, Caracas, Distrito Federal DEC 4 0232 - Hugo Chávez congratulating his voters and shouting with happiness

many words regarding "La Constitución Bolivariana". What this means is that he changed the constitution. What that means: initially, instead of having the right,

according to the constitution to be choosen once for 4 years, he added 1 year to the election's ended term + the right to be choosen for the 2nd time. Nowadays,

though, he can be choosen as many times as the people want. But things are much moe complicated than one will thing !!! He is very into military stuff. The results

would become very controling toward his side and, in the case he loosed his 3rd term, fights against the (slight) majority could be strong into the "political game".

Strong peaks, some deep fadings, but not that bad overall. SINPO 43323. (Chiochiu-QC)

780 VENEZUELA, YVNM, Radio Coro, Falcón DEC 20 0448 - playing a high-energy merengue flavoured electro / dance / house tune with a melancolic mood,

as far as the melody goes. Building in strenght. The upcoming song was "Me Engañaste" (You Cheated Me) by FRANKIE RUIZ, the master of salsa erotica without

any ID break at this time. Unfortunatly, Frankie Ruiz sadly passed away in 1998 due to overdosis, just like the French singer Jacky Quartz. First of all, jealousy never

means healthy love, because the definition of love is the sensation of mixing up with the soul of your loved one and if your loved one loves someone else, you have to

mix up with her soul and ACCEPT the MULTIPLE LOVE PATTERN of your loved soul !!!!! There are many chicks that are having the spiritual skills highly

attractive for being complementary to the souls of SEVERAL men. Secondly, there are everywhere people attracked more by an illusory cynism than by tangible

hedonism fashions (like the uncoditionnal, highly sensual and delicate acomoclitism touch wich is far more healthy than taking drugs) !!! Sad! + NOV 2 0714 -

Female tropical dance vocal (sounded like a fusion of tecnocumbia and rythmic CHR music) followed ID "Ruta Música 7-80 dando la hóra 3, 9 minutos" followed by

another one "Radio Coro 7-80 AM, más popular" ID talked over a "Radio Coro Siete-Ochenta, por en vivo" SINGED JINGLE, then a melancolic HJ vallenato.

Beware of the "más popular" IDs. If you never had the opportunity to enjoy a Colombian vallenato (very popular in Venezuela too), then stay tune for this kind of IDs

! "...más popular" is ALWAYS used when a vallenato is about to begun. So if you hear this ID on 780 kHz, you'll know what to expect. Vallenato can be very nice if

the melodies are melancolic, like the one I enjoyed 3 months ago. Otherwise, it sounds fuzzy. ALSO, the "...más popular" IDs are NEVER used before a gaita or a

joropo, not even before a cumbia. They always have something to do with vallenatos, in the mind of Radio Coro's programators ! "...más popular" means more from

the heart of the people, from the heart of the average people ! Folkloric music is always regarded as being the music of the "average PEOPLE", the PEOPLE of the

countrylands, hence the Spanish and Romanian terms according to that convention. In Romanian, "muzica populara" actually means "Authentical folk music" !

Vallenato is the Colombia's national folk style. (Chiochiu-QC)

800 NETHERLANDS ANTILES, PJB, Radio Transmundial, Bonaire OCT 5 0201 - something sounding like "De Dios" way under local CJAD Montreal,

breaking through it's open carrer. NEW ! Country #21 (Chiochiu-QC)

910 VENEZUELA, YVRQ, AM Center, Caracas, Distrito Federal JAN 28 0244 - stations IDs + a short spot for the "Talento Nacional" px followed by a

progressive flaboured 70s Venezuelan rock tune, in the style of Vytas Brenner, but with soothing vocals on it. All this was followed by a "Tradición venezolana en el

circutio AM Center" and a joropo vocal. Initially fairly strong, then faded down to very weak and flutterry. SINPO 34422. Not that regular, thanks to CMAF Radio

Cadena Agramonte CO-CHANNEL QRM. Fortunatly, during this late January Sunday evening, the QRG was empty, allowing for RQ-910 to came in clear. Still, it

is the fourth easiest YV after YVNM-780, YVKS-750 and YVKE-550 (with CHLN nulled) in the Montreal area. (Chiochiu-QC)

SHORTWAVE DX

4920 ECUADOR, Radio Quito, Quito NOV 19 0610 - w/ pasillos and short ann. SINPO 23343. REACTIVATED, but unheard during the few subswewuent

listenings I've done during the WEE hours !!! Tape is available if anyone wants to have a look at it !!! (Chiochiu-QC)

6220 EUROPIRATE, Mystery Radio NOV 18 2214 - bursts of eurotrance music. Poor peaks on an otherwise VERY THRESHOLD signal, incomprehensible in

noises. SINPO 13211 + MAR 3 2305 - rock songs, as well as dance ones. DJ greeting his listeners. SINPO 22232. Initially poor to somehwat fair, but killed by

awful noises starting around 2315 UTC. As you can see by my repport, it is the best showing of this long-saught pirate ! (Chiochiu-QC)

9880 KUWAIT, Radio Kuwait, Kabd NOV 18 2020 - man in AA speach of a (pephaps) strong religious CONNOTATION (the word "CONNOTATION"

makes me more powerful !). Mention of "Baba" (father in AA, perphaps ref. to Allah wich is officially their father and unoficially a sadic extraterrestrial just like the

masochrist - Bogdan) and of "islami". Very good when tuned to 9878 AM Narrow in order to reduce 9885 splatter. SINPO 44444. SINPO 52342 when tuned

right to 9880 ! (Chiochiu-QC)

Bogdan speaks: I have ommited some logs of Radio Reloj 570 and of Radio Monte Cristi 580, since I can't find the tape and I don't remember the music nor the

commercial ads, let alone the IDs. The same goes for HJAJ-760 (Barranquilla). Otherwise, I was glad I picked up YVQO-640 and PJB-800, the last one, though

more or less impossible in my situation, being a new one for me ! A big surprise this season has been Puerto Rico 580, very regular, though its strenght leaves a bit to

desire. As far as Cuba goes, everyone is picking up Rebelde, Progreso and Reloj way over the weaker US signals, all over North America, so reporting them is of

little revelance. (B. Chiochiu, Pierrefonds (Montreal's West Island), Quebec, Canada - mwdx 1467, 16/03/2007)

(Alessandro Bertoglio, Turin, Italy - bclnews 1768, 18/03/2007)

В субботу-воскресенье нашлось кое-какое время для любимого занятия;

11715, 10.45-11.00, Radio Taiwan Int,

9745, 11.05-11.20, Voice of Han с Тайваня, SINPO 53443.

7390, 14.40, Open Radio for North Korea,

6245, 18.34, Radio Zamaneh,

11690, 04.38, Radio Okapi,
