Despite having successfully convinced myself I didn't need an iPad and that I merely wanted one it's now getting to the point where it's only a matter of time until I cave in and buy one. We're talking days.
A couple of things have swayed me.
Firstly, that the kids have had their hands on one and they love it. The iPad in question was loaded with kids jigsaws, bedtime books and colouring apps. Whereas at first I adopted the stance that "It did me no harm not having these gadgets as a kid" I accept that it's all very different now. Why should I hold them back when it's inevitable that their future is filled with technology? They still have access to normal jigsaws and colouring books and I can't see the iPad meaning I no longer read them a bedtime story every night.
Secondly, an up-coming project involves developing an "iPhone app", so having some hardware to compliment the SDK's emulator won't go amiss. Heck, it's now a business requirement that I have one! All I need to do now is convince the company secretary of my need for one.
One question while I have your attention - can I reliably test an iPhone app on an iPod Touch to get a real world feel for it outside the emulator, without splashing out on the phone itself?

A friend of Karen's wanted to contact our photographer friend. From what we can work out they did so via his Facebook profile, which I'm guessing turned up via a Google for his name. But he no longer checks Facebook and they've now concluded "He didn't get back in touch, so we've gone elsewhere". They should have asked for his phone number.
A friend of mine used an @jakehowlett "mention" on Twitter to tell me something of relative importance. Luckily I happened to see it. It should have been an email, SMS or phone call though really.
From my own point of view, unless I've verbally told somebody something I can only assume they might (or might not) have gotten the message.
The inclusion of email signatures in to meeting invitations would greatly reduce the need to open a new memo, copy the default mail signature and paste it in to meeting invitations.
There are other ideas already regarding rich text signatures and multiple signature which I think could apply here as well.
Sometimes you as a developer or an administrator needs to quickly find a given document and the only information you have is the NoteID or the UNID... there may be an advanced option in the quick search dialog to allow you to do searchs based on NoteID or UNID.
Have an option to define who may use an Action Menu agent.
Similar to the way you can set a view to be only visible to users with e.g. the [admin] role.
Currently when you do not want normal users to have access to an agent you have two options:
1) Make a private agent -> other app admins don't have access to
2) Make the agent hidden and create view actions with hide-when's
In most applications when I open the actions menu, I see about 20 agents. Set field bla, Fix bla, Admin\Correct fields, Migrate documents, etc. AAAAARGH.
I know these agents are the result of crappy design by poor developers/functional app managers. But what real option do they have??

When a user sends a message in the mail file or simply working on his mailfile, the user gets the following error: 'PopulateTopMenus' has encountered a problem. After further investigation the root cause was found from the use of Short keys.
An administrator configures a Smart Upgrade Kit database and creates a Smart Upgrade Kit document to upgrade their existing Notes clients to a Notes 8 Standard (Eclipse-based) client (by selecting the new "Notes Standard" configuration option). The newly created upgrade kit document is then enabled and no user(s) receive the automatic upgrade prompt. The user(s) then attempt to manually upgrade via the File > Tools > Notes Smart Upgrade ... menu option and a dialog informs the users that they are ru
You have two local replicas of a database, and you are trying to open one of the local replicas of the mailfile through Windows Explorer. The Notes client will open, and the database is opened, but you find that the incorrect replica of the database that you opened from Windows Explorer will be opened.
Intermittently, you see the body of certain emails appear blank in the Notes 8.5.1 client. You find restarting the client will resolve the issue for this one particular instance.
Desktop policy settings document values for eclipse settings (under the "custom settings" tab, then the "managed settings" tab) create a $qual_1000 field in the document when written. However, the value written to the $qual_1000 field is not deleted when the information is deleted from the settings document and the settings document is saved.
