Idea:
Notes has a great feature, allowing part of a text to be tagged with a different language.
Many of my customers (including myself) write e.g. mails switching languages (per email, or even inside 1 email).
Especially now in Notes 8, we have instant spell checking, these are the steps the user has to use to switch language:
- select the text
- open the text properties
- select the correct language (out of a huge list)
- close the text properties

Note that the Language selector in the Statusbar does no longer exist in 8 standard, but even this 'popup' language bar is a hassle, because of the long list of choices.

Would it not be great to have a formula command to switch on the fly:
@command([EditSetLanguage];"French")

This way I can create a button for a user to switch instantaneously.

PS it would be nice to be able to set this language tag for a NotesRichText in LotusScript too.

Idea:
Allow for more control over the creation of a full text index for a database.
While an idea (linked above) already suggesting to redirect the full-text index creation for the whole server to a dedicated volume of (inexpensive and slow) disks, it does not go far enough to allow the most of a control for an administrator.(nevertheless its a good idea, go vote there!)

So, to allow the most of control, it should be possible to redirect a full-text index for a single database to somewhere else, possibly to a server which do dedicated full-text.

It could be realized by allowing to create .ft files (e.g. mail/gengels.ft for the mail/gengels.nsf file) in the data directory. This file is a text-file and could be opened with every text editor like vi or notepad. Inside there is a path to the redirected full-text index, this can be a path on the same machine or a redirection to another server like ft-server01/organization/de!!ft/mail/gengels.ft

Several server could redirect the full-text for all databases with the same replica-id to some dedicated search server which could perform the search requests for them. This would lead to better load-distribution while reducing the space needed for maintaining the full-text index only once, instead of all servers a replica resides on.

In the Lotus Notes® 8.0.2 (Standard Configuration) client, users are prompted with both the Lotus Notes Instant Messaging user interface and the Sametime® Connect 8.0 interface during client configuration, login and first time setup, and upgrades.
In some cases it may be necessary for a Domino administrator to re-create the Free Time database (Busytime.nsf), for example, to resolve Free Time issues. This document provides the steps for re-creating the Busytime.nsf file or Clubusy.nsf. However, please refer first to the troubleshooting script, #1141060.
You are running Lotus Notes on a Macintosh. If your Welcome Page launches a Web page, or if you attempt to load Web pages using the embedded browser, JavaScript errors occur.
When installing FP1 for Domino7.0.3. on zLinux, you receive an error.
In Notes 8.0.2, there are icons on your Replicator page that do not have local replicas. You did not add the icons to your replicator page. You did not notice this issue in earlier releases of Notes.

You would like to deploy Notes 8.0.2 Standard Configuration but implement the notes.ini parameter "UseBasicNotes=1" that will allow users to launch the Basic Configuration instead of the Standard Configuration.
In Lotus Notes releases 6, 7, and 8 Basic Configuration, the "Show instant messaging status for names" option is available at File > Preferences > User Preferences > Instant Messaging > General. Because Notes 8 Standard Configuration uses the full Sametime Connect client code, the "Show instant messaging status for names" option is not available.
