Across America: Danny Daniels' quest to skate across America continues- read his latest entry called The desert and the mountains. What a unique experience that we get to read about; he writes 'The desert is beautiful and harsh. It is elegant and unforgiving. Even the wildlife here seems to barely hold on to life. Proud and majestic cactii loom next to it's withering brethren. Mesquite trees dot the landscape with their thorny arms as if waving in defiance of the infernal sun.

I made my way up the mountain as I battled with my fatigued limbs. There must be a mining operation nearby, as giant earth movers were being shipped with the aid of local sherriffs and highway patrol. Those officers repeatedly caught us and asked us to move to the side for 10-15 minutes at a time as massive loads of equipment and parts crawled up the road
'.

Big Rideau: The 5th International Big Rideau lake Speed Skating Marathon is taking place on January 26th in Portland, Ontario. Click here for more information. Here is my video from last year's event-

Subaru Bont & WIC News: Check out team Subaru Bont- they got a pretty sweet looking suit. Their 2008 line up includes Pier Davide Romani, Mauro Casu, Nicolla Canella, Tobias Beute, and Simon Strobel.

Check out World Cup Topics for 2008 because there's been more posts with lots of information that might interest you. You might also be interseted in checkout out Matter Inline Center's team- see Matter Inline Center World Team 2008 or read the original release here.

There has been recent interesting daily facts posted on Matter Inline Center's site-

Toronto Inline Skating Club's co-founders, Jocelyn Sicotte and Laurie LaFrance, competed in this championship on inlines

Aaron Arndt competed in this one (1996 jr worlds) and just missed out on winning a medal after getting pulled back near the end of a race. Four years later in the same city that Aaron competed, Steve Robillard almost won a medal at the 2000 world junior championships in Barrancabermeja, Colombia, placing 4th in the marathon (some of the medalists received 'relay' pushes

NROC's Logo: NROC's Logo has been unveiled- looks good.

SI- Sins Of A Father: SI.com has published an article called Sins of a Father. It talks about Corey Gahan story and situation- the article opens with these words; 'The kid hated needles. But it hardly mattered. About once a week he'd roll up his sleeve, expose his shoulder and feel the cold metal plunge into what little muscle he had there. He would scrunch up his face as if he had smelled something foul and often close his eyes until the contents of the syringe emptied into his bloodstream. Then he could return to his PlayStation 2'.

Ottawa's Floor: Aaron Arndt talks about Ottawa's indoor floor in Ottawa Practice. He says 'Basically, there is very little glide, and it is tough to just hold your speed, but it is grippy enough to skate reasonably fast. I think the most immediate impact is that it is really hard to hold pace. I also think that it has later concequences on your techinque; that it will inevitably cause one to have an elevated stride rate, and will likely cause one to push back too much...'.

There is a response to Aaron's entry on Road Rash Chronicles- see The Results are Flooring!.

And FYI, RRC has also posted another good entry, this one called Things I want to know but am afraid to ask.....

Montreal 24 Hours: Skatelog's thread Sign Up Now for Team Skatelog 2008 (Montreal 24 Hour) has some not encouraging news for the Montreal 24 Hours, which recently started taking registrations- the latest post by says 'Instead of 3 teams from the Toronto area like last year, there may only be 1 team

Reasons being - date change... Duluth a week later, weather... 3 teams to a paddock
'.

1,3 Heuvel...: Training & News' latest entry called 1,3 heuvel...; there you can see pictures of Answer Wheels.

Munoz Interview: Click here for an interview with Andres Felipe Munoz.
