Короткие Волны (Shortwaves)

Australia
11840 DRW 317 2200-2400
It was nice to hear the morning broadcast to SE Asia back with a
readable signal in Europe. Sudden switch-on (crashing into the
news)just after 2201. 33243 with fading. Heard 2201-2240.
(Dan Goldfarb, Brentwood, England - dxldyg 09/05/2008)

Австрия/Вьетнам (Austria)
9725, Voice of Vietnam, (pres)1856-1858, Initially noted
instrumental music for a minute which was followed by a female in French comments. At
1858 to 1859 dead air. At 1859 signal drops off the air. The signal was good, what
there was of it. There's a lot of "(pres)s" with this logging due to the limited details.
The PBWR says this is a relay via Austria. See below. (Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL, USA, May 7, 2008)

9725 1900-1930 29 SKN 300 70 G VOV MER

Moosbrunn 300degr lobe is more or less towards NY and FL.

Skelton 70degr is far different, backlobe into VEN, CMB, EQUA, PRU, CHL etc.
So only a tiny side lobe makes it into Florida.

15345, RAE, 2148-2207, May 9. The 1600 miles between
Glenn and me makes a big difference in our reception on the same day
and time (DXLD 8-058: Morocco). Heard in German with LA ballads, fair
with a het from very weak R. Marocaine (presumed), 2155 loop of IS and
"RAE Argentina" IDs, het ended with Morocco sign-off at 2202, into
Spanish (Ron Howard, Asilomar Beach, CA, USA - dxldyg 10/05/2008)

Болгария (Bulgaria)

Бирма (Myanmar)
5985, Myanma Radio, 1348-1405, May 8, first day that
they have resumed broadcasting after not being hear for several days.
Before the cyclone the format at this time would usually be EZL pop
songs, but today of course was different, non-stop talking in
vernacular and naturally many mentions of Myanmar, mostly fair
reception till 1400, after that was poor due to 5980 signing-on with a
strong signal. E-mails sent to Myanmar have recently not gone through,
but have not failed, just "temporarily delayed", as I assume the power
has been off there (Ron Howard, CA, USA - dxldyg 08/05/2008)

Myanmar back on limited SW operation. Heard yesterday May 8th
0755-0900 UT s.off, nothing after that. This morning 0030 UT on 7185 kHz in
progress. (Victor Goonetilleke, Ceylon - dxldyg 09/05/2008)

5985, Myanma Radio, random listening from 1301-1533,
May 10, back to their usual format of mostly music (mixture of pop,
rap, ballads and indigenous songs) plus some segments of talking.
1500-1530 played all indigenous songs, into the "English program of
Myanma Radio". Glenn is correct; QRM from 5980 at 1400 is a very
strong BBC Thailand signing-on in English (Ron Howard, Asilomar Beach, CA, Eton E5, dxldyg via DX LISTENING DIGEST)

5770, Myanmar Defense Forces BC (presumed) via
Taunggyi, 1335-1356, May 10, in vernacular, pop Asian songs heard
well, but the talking portion had low audio (Ron Howard, Asilomar Beach, CA, USA - dxldyg 10/05/2008)

Боливия (Bolivia)
4732. Bolivia Radio Universitaria, Cobija, Pando noted 1105 and 2350
to 0000 on 8 May and is presently broadcasting at 0005 mixing with the
usual rtty. (R. Wilkner, Pompano Beach, FL, USA - CumbreDX 09/05/2008)

R. Santa Cruz, 6134.8, must be the best bet for Bolivia in North America, at least in our evenings. Once Republica and jamming are done at 0000, the frequency happens to

be open, with nothing even on 6135.0 to het it. After noticing a pious het from another Bolivian on 5952.4 which had no chance against WYFR on 5950, I tuned to 6134.8 at

0008 May 11 and there was Andean music, with brief announcements at 0011 and 0020, ``buena musica``; seemed to be interviewing kids at 0025, but mostly music, still

at 0035, and at 0055 when applause was heard, so may have been a live event.

For something so exotic it was a good signal, but otherwise it was very tough copy, partly due to some distortion, but mostly due to heavy T-storm static from Missouri and

Arkansas, if not closer. I later learned tornados hit Picher and Haywood OK. Never heard an ID, but no doubt this is it, due to frequency offset and other reports, which have

had it closing at 0108. Maybe those were not UT Sunday, because this time it kept on going at 0113 and 0123 checks, but nothing heard at 0130, altho the carrier was still

detectable, and that went off at 0134* Surprisingly, RHC 6140 was not much of a problem until after 0100 when a weak station on 6130 also came on, squeezing RSC

comments. Signal was fading in and out at a threshold level. With terrible
noise all

11829.91 R. Anhanguera Surprised to find this here at 1829 w/ad

readable. Hrd on new E-1 rx w/T2FD antenna. (D. Valko 10 May - CumbreDX 10/05/2008)

9650 with VR IS May 11 at 0039, Latin ID at 0040 and into S Asian music; only poor, but it seems we can hear VR no matter where it is aimed. Hetless Vietnamese was

also audible on 9600 during the previous hour. 9650 is ex-5915, presumably to avoid Burmyanmar (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 11/05/2008)

Германия (GERMANY)
DW Russian via Rampisham UK, 15420, May 7 at 1429, good signal in CNAm and still no place for WBCQ to be; this hour and more via UAE at 15-17 are still scheduled

by DW to continue, unlike their Arabic after 1700, moving to 15445 from May 10. WBCQ plans to try 15420 again from May 12, but not clear during what hours
(Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/05/2008)

DW Amharic via Rwanda, 15650, which started April 26, fair May 10 at 1406, but with lite echo, possibly dual long/short path; no jamming audible.
DW Russian on 15620 at 1407 May 10, and unsynchronized on 15420. 15620 is Kigali, a somewhat roundabout way to get from Germany to Russia; but at least 1 second

quicker than 15420 which is via Ramphisam, UK (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 10/05/2008)

Греция (Greece)
15630 GREECE. Voice of Greece (Avlis), 2011-2022, 5/8/2008, Greek.
Program of very enjoyable traditional Greek music. Talk by man at
2022. Good signal with significant fading, declining slightly (SINPO
34322). (Jim Evans, TN, USA - CumbreDX 09/05/2008)

Замбия (Zambia)
May 8 at 1252, two stations mixing with SAH on 13590, not just 1Africa, CVC. According to EiBi there are two others stations at this time besides CVC: DW in French to

NAf via Portugal, and VOR in Mandarin to FE via Novosibirsk. The two I was hearing most likely Portugal and Zambia (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/05/2008)

Израиль (Israel)
On the DXLD website, I saw the posting of the Kol Israel snippet
from "Click!, May ODXA Listening In".

Two comments there:

A) "Reka (the news presented in English or Russian, apparently)"

REKA (it's an acronym) is the domestic Immigrant's Network.
Currently, Israel Radio International is just a relay of REKA with only
one exception. 1-1.5 hours a day Persian is broadcast on IRI, instead
of the Russian which is on the REKA network at that time. That is, REKA
is much more than just English and Russian. The schedule is on the left
side of the page.

One side of me wasn't going to call IRI a "relay" of anything, besides
for Persian... but, remember it is still broadcast via satellite - if
only to the Middle East. That is, is a relay of a radio station onto
the Internet only, still called a relay?

Also interesting to note, last I checked a few weeks ago, the live
webstream of IRI is stereo, while the live webstream of REKA was
monaural. Again, besides 1-1.5 hours a day, they have the same
programming.

B) www.intkolisrael.com works on my US version of Internet Explorer 7
and Firefox 2. I would recommend anyone having problems, should email
webmaster@iba.org.il and supply what version of which web browser is
being used. (Daniel Z., dxldyg 11/05/2008)

Индия (India)
4970, AIR Shillong, 1245-1258, May 10, in English, woman DJ
with "This is the North Eastern Service of All India Radio with our
Western music program broadcasting from Shillong", playing pop songs
in English, fair to poor. This program has been in this time slot from
at least 2006 (Ron Howard, Asilomar Beach, CA, USA - dxldyg 10/5/2008)

Испания (Spain)
REE Co-Official Language block was a bit off-timed, May 7, tho I did not tune in 15170 Costa Rica soon enough to hear how and when it started. 1249-1253 Gallego,

1253-1258 Basque but really in Castilian. There is some question whether the missing Catalan was supposed to be before these or after these, and whether the block is

really supposed to air at 1240-1255 or 1245-1300.

One more check of the Co-Official [read: token] Languages segment on REE, Thu May 8 on 15170 via CR. Tuned in at 1241 and found Catalan underway, so did start at

1240; at 1245 to Galician, and 1250 Basque but really in Castilian, 1255 music fill. So that appears to be the real schedule; now if only they can get the Basque language

itself back into the mix (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/05/2008)

Китай (China)
11635, China Radio International, 1030-1056, At 1030, hoping to hear
Taiwan on this freq, instead there was CRI broadcasting in English. I
suppose their (CRI's) intention is to block Taiwan? Anyway, noted news, and
comments along with imitation Western Style music.Although CRI was
dominating the freq, at about 1047, I could hear Taiwan fading in under
CRI's signal. At 1055 full ID and schedule before signing off. CRI was fair.
(Chuck Bolland, Clewiston, FL, USA, May 8, 2008)

May 7 before 1300 I noticed Firedrake making it thru somewhere around 15450, but did not pin it down; rechecked after 1300 it was gone.

But this prompted me to do a full bandscan to find as many FDs as possible, between 1306 and 1320. Here I`ll put them in reverse order, not the order found, nor am I going

to try to research all their targets, but most of them are regulars, against VOA, RFA, BBC, Taiwan or Sound of Hope:

12040 11900 11785 11665 9845 9780 9680 9605 7445 7310 7105 6110 6095 6085 6030

That`s a total of 15. At 1342 also heard on 15285. At 1433 also on 9930, 9450. Some of them were alone as far as I could tell, others mixing in various proportions with

stations in Chinese. Checked several Firedrakes on two receivers, and they were always // synchronized (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/05/2008)

11605, May 8 at 1258 with synthesized Asian music, 1300 ID in English as R. Free Asia, and into Tibetan service. Listened until 1303 but no sign of any jamming! SINPO

35443. Per Aoki this is Tinian at 309 degrees and it is certainly jammed, just not audible here, as higher-latitude paths were not propagating so well. BTW, at 1200-1229 it`s

the Amdo dialect of Tibetan, 1229-1300 the Khams dialect, and 1300-1400 regular Tibetan. I wonder if the English IDs go into such details?

A station on 9890 with a solo vocalist accompanied by a rustic plucked instrument, May 8 at 1305 per Aoki also turns out to be Khams Tibetan from FEBC Bocaue,

Philippines, 100 kW at 305 degrees, and not jammed.

On 31m the jammers had a better chance, but VOA Mandarin via Philippines on 9845 was still well over Firedrake at 1306; also at 1354 with chinese@voanews.com

address. And VOA English from Philippines, 9760 at 1315 was VG, much better than heard in a long time (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 08/05/2008)

4830, China Huayi BC (presumed), 1321-1333, May 9, in Chinese, with on-air phone conversations, fair (Ron Howard, CA, USA - dxldyg 09/05/2008)

4500, China, Xinjiang PBS, Urumqi; May-04 Mongolian 2330 "East is Red" I/S, ID "Sinkiang ardyn radyo nibtrelhi", OM and YL talks, 2338-2341 local pop music. Thank you

very much Mr. Anker Petersen for the helping and info in this ID. Signal improving 33333 (Lucio O.B., Embu, Brasil - hard-core-dx 12/05/2008)

9880, China Radio International, 1045-1058, Noted a male and female
in Mandarin Language comments here. Can hear a second signal under CRI
consisting of just music which could possibly be someone's Interval Signal.
It goes off at 1048 while CRI continues
in comments. At 1056 the station stops for their usual 4 minutes of silence
before they go into the next hour. Signal was fair. Nothing came of the
earlier music under CRI. (Chuck Bolland, Clewsiton, FL, USA, May 12, 2008)

format very different from their usual non-stop talking, fair-good
reception, no jamming. Sent COMJAN an email pointing out the
interference on 6005 with Echo of Hope on 6003 (Ron Howard, CA, USA - dxldyg 09/05/2008)

P`yongyang not bad on 9665, May 10 at 1248 with music, and the ``rushing noise`` accompanying which some think is jamming but I think is coming out of same defective

transmitter.

Then checked 11710 for imminent VOK NAm service, at 1256 finding low het between VOK`s open carrier which must be slightly off-frequency, and some Firedrake. But

Commies vs Commies didn`t last; at 1300 the Firedrake went off, leaving VOK in clear with IS, ID, program summary, news, which by law must always start with the

activities of Kim Jung-Il, preceded by some of his numerous official titles.

I would have had enough, but was obliged to see if the spurs were making it thru. Yes! 11644 was barely audible, along with noise, but soon faded, and barely audible a het

on 11776 against Anguilla, but Firedrake there was more of a problem. The fundamental wasn`t nearly as strong as the previous log when 11644 was easily audible.

So what attracted the Firedrakes? Per Aoki: Taiwan on 11710 until 1300; All India Radio in Tibetan on 11775 until 1330 (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 10/05/2008)

KBSWR, 9650 via Sackville, Sat May at 1242 during Worldwide Friendship show, review of the week`s Korean lessons; SAH and increasing CCI, from P`yongyang, which

coincidentally is in Japanese at this hour, per Aoki: 9650 Voice of Korea 1100-1250 1234567 Japanese 200 109 Kujang KRE 12505E 4005N VOK a08

I don`t really know which came first, but KBS should find a better frequency, as it doesn`t even make it halfway across North America without colliding with their archrivals. I

have been saying this for a long time, but they ignore my advice. VOK is aiming at Japan after all, so how could it be a problem in OK??

Мавритания (Mauritania)
4845 the only decent non-North-American signal on 60m, May 10 at 0610-0624, monotonous undermodulated chanting as always around this time --- or rather there are

several tones, but not that many. This is ideally soporific for us, tho it`s wake-up time in West Africa, a bit of a mismatch (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 10/5/2008)

RTM Briech 15335 is OFF today.

But noted RTM Nador 15340 as always tiny S=3-5 signal, deep fadings. Mixture
of Arabic/French talks by female and male announcer. 1300-1315 UT May 1st.
(W. Bueschel, Germany - dxldyg 1/05/2008)

No 7135 came up now either. At 2200 Nauen with Polskie Radio (weak
scatter signal here only) cut off, leaving the frequency empty.
Transmitter changes, effective May 1st, CANCEL ALL or what?

While tuning around a bit I found strong Chinese on 7160. Ah, it has
Firedrake in the background, so it's not what I first believed but
instead the BBC via Al-Dhabbaya. Firedrake also on 7105 (jamming
what?), 7180 and 7190 (against BBC and VOA, respectively, both via
Thailand, inaudible here). Transmissions with other program content
from China are on 7130 (Chinese) and 7200 (French), the latter much
stronger although both are supposed to be co-located at Urumqui. CRI
programming also on 7175, via Taldom, still with the old phone-quality
feed, in English with news about the Mt. Everest publicity stunt.
Check out http://www.mounteverest.net/morenews.php for what's going on
there, especially on the Nepalese side. (Kai Ludwig, Germany - dxldyg 02/05/2008)

But noted RTM Nador 15340 as always tiny S=3-5 signal, deep fadings.
1150 UT May 2nd. Best time with much stronger signal from Nador is 1300-1500
UT slot. (W. Bueschel, Germany - dxldyg 02/05/2008)

Probably the schedule for this needs to be confined. Now, after 0900,
I have no trace of any signal on 15340 or 15345. At the same time the
other Nador transmitter is still audible with Medi 1 on 9575, although
quite weak. These are more than 2000 km under broad daylight.

Also made a point of tuning up 15455 for a bit of Voice of Russia via
Samara, just in time to withness a bad slip by the news announcer. Gulp.
(Kai Ludwig, Germany - dxldyg 02/05/2008)

15340 Next to the CRI Russian powerhouse from Kashi on 15335 kHz I could
trace a tiny signal, when set the E1 to SYNCand/or ssb/usb mode plus PBT.

The signal left the air at 09.59:32 UT, so I guess it's DWL via Kranji
Singapore towards EaAS 0900-1000 in English, the only station which is
registered at this time slot. Now at 1002 UT the 15340 channel is empty.

A tiny carrier on 15345.07 kHz, maybe RAE Buenos Aires on Whitsun holiday
broadcast? Or an unwanted spur of something else?
(W. Bueschel, Germany - dxldyg 12/05/2008)

> RTM is on air today (12th May) at 1045 tune in on 15340 with music.
> The signal is peaking to S-9+10dB on my meter (with deep fades), but

Was apparently still off shortly after 1000, as Wolfgang already
noted. First noted on here at 1052 recheck, so weak that it was not
even possible to say if this faint carrier had any audio. 9575
is still noticeably stronger here, and it is well modulated in
regard to both modulation depht and fidelity.

If this 15340 really aims at Europe something must be very wrong with
the antenna and/or the transmitter. 250 kW on 19 metres from 2000 km
away and within the main beam would have to be much, much stronger.

Btw, RTM as an organization name is a thing of the past, like RTA in
neighbouring Algeria. (Kai Ludwig, Germany - dxldyg 12/05/2008)

RTM is on air today (12th May) at 1045 tune in on 15340 with music. The
signal is peaking to S-9+10dB on my meter (with deep fades), but modulation
level is low. This sounds like the Nador transmitter. ID and jingle at 1100
followed by news and talk/music at 1102. (Noel Green, U.K. - dxldyg 12/05/2008)

I think it was RFI in Russian on 15345 at 1500-1530, with another
underneath. This is heard from 1530 peaking to S-9 with deep fades and low
modulation playing Arabic music and song. So frequency change from 15340
could still be at 1500. (Noel Green, U.K. - dxldyg 12/05/2008)

Re this from Wolfgang..............The station had previously a warm-up
start from 0845/0850 UT, so is still a puzzle, I'll check the 10 to 11 UT
slot tomorrow. Acc to Noel's check I guess switch-on time at Nador is about
1045 UT warm-up now ?

and Kai
Also for 15340, and let's say as real operational parameters? WRTH specifies
the target of this frequency as Europe. If it is really run with an antenna
aiming at 110 deg. the weak signal would of course be no surprise, and of
course this would in reality not be a service for Europe!

I monitored 15340 from about 0855 on May 13, and I could hear a carrier in
severe side-splash from CRI Russian on
15335.
RTM - or should we now call it Radio Marocaine (or SNRT to save so much
typing!) - started with programming at 0900UTC. The signal is peaking to 9+
and dropping back to near zero at times on the meter. And modulation
continues to be very low.
It probably is back radiation that is reaching me, and the rest is meant for
elsewhere in Africa. Breich was the one really meant for Europe, and
probably it was thought that the two adjacent signals (15335 and 15340)
would not interfere with each other in their respective target areas.
Looking at Wolfy's map, 110deg seems to be a very strange azimuth to use,
and not to where most Arabic speaking people live. (Noel Green, U.K. - dxldyg 12//5/2008)

Мексика (Mexico)
XEXQ, 6045, audible May 10 at 1227 with string classical music, poor at brief peak. Have not seen many reports of this, so just keeping track of when it can be confirmed

as active. Possibly there may be an evening time when it comes thru better, QRM permitting.

Comparing XEXQ to R. Mil, 6010, a bit further from here, but usually with better signal, tho never outstanding with its low power too --- May 10 at 1230 string of Nucleo

Radio Mil promos, giving phone number (toll-free?) for calls from USA and Canada, plug for ``Buenos Dias, Mexico`` show M-F at 10 am to 1 pm local = 1500-1800 UT, and

perpetual slogan ``donde vive la musica de Mexico``, finally back to axual music at 1232 (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 10/05/2008)

banned on the Spanish SW service of RN; it`s La Fonoteca per http://www.informarn.nl/horariosyfrecuencias/sabados-y-domingos

IRS, still on poorly-chosen 6185 to NAm; UT Sunday May 11 did not hear it at 0000, and at 0050 was enjoying some marimba music from XEPPM, but at 0058 that was

mixing with IRS carrier and IS, 0100 opening English, but unreadable with audio level about equal to R. Educacion, and splatter from RHC 6180 news sounders. Meanwhile

6190 and 6195 were begging for IRS to occupy their vacancies, altho 6190 would be better in deference to Prague on 6200. At 0130, Mexico City was again in the clear with

piano roll music. This encouraged me to bring up the XEEP webcast later, including ``Ghost Riders in the Sky`` at 0322, ``Manana is Soon Enough for Me`` at 0324 (Glenn

Thailand
Still absolutely no sign of R. Thailand on 12120 at 0050 check May 11, under all that RTTY. This 0030-0100 was supposed to be English to North America, as it was in

B-season on 12095 --- but now the target is E Africa! And the following hour in Thai at 0100-0200 on 12120 is now targeted at Middle East --- but this doesn`t make sense

not only because it`s in the middle of the night there, but also because it`s supposedly still aimed at 6 degrees from Udorn, the original trans-polar path designed for ENAm,

nowhere hear the azimuth for EAf/ME. Furthermore there is no change in parameters at 0100 tho the target areas supposedly change.

I am beginning to wonder if this has morphed into an imaginary service. It might as well be. How about the WNAm service at 0200-0330 on 15275. Is anyone hearing that

anywhere now? It`s still supposedly at 38 degrees, the azimuth for WNAm, but the target area is Malaysia and Indonesia except New Guinea, again nowhere near the

appropriate direxion. What`s going on here? (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 11/05/2008)

There has been contradictory info about how long the extra V. of Croatia relay frequency via Germany, 7285, would last. Registrations showed until May 10, while Brian

Alexander heard them early UT May 10 saying it would last until May 15. However, 9925 was quite good, and 7285 was missing when I checked later May 10, at 2338 and

2435. So we can only hope 9925 will now hold up, but I would not count on it with solar flux about as low as it can go (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 11/05/2008)

Radio Prague, 13580, heard well here at 1300 with their program in English directed to Western Europe.

Radio Prague, 11600, heard here at 2000 in English directed to Oceania. The preceeding half hour in Czech had a slightly better signal though there is
no beam change (080) at 2000.
So, it looks as though there are several opportunities to hear them here during the daytime on the 18th for that special 85th Anniversary QSL.

Экв. Гвинея (Eq. Guinea)
R. Africa is back, on 15190.0, after a three-week absence, last heard April 17. Now heard May 8 at 1958 with ratchety-voiced US preacher rattling off the usual

catch-phrases, no break for ID at 2000 but none needed. Only fair with deep fades, but most of the signals on 19m were degraded. Joined at 2000 by Harold Camping YFR

with audio somewhat overmodulated (SINPO 44333). At 2040 the next
program began, this one with horrible audio and clipping so bad that
only about 10% was readable. Heard a schedule of services and a
phone number, but couldn't determine the name of the ministry. Tuned
out at 2045. Signal strength had also declined somewhat by this
time. (Jim Evans, TN, USA - CumbreDX 09/05/2008)

never hear verse numbers given. He was faded out at 2259:30 for ID and into Portuguese service. I would not be surprised if he just keeps going on original recording, like

the Spanish Bible readings on WWCR, where the programming cuts off abruptly when the time is up, perhaps by operators or automation who do not understand the

language and know where to make a clean break (Glenn Hauser, OK, USA - dxldyg 11/05/2008)

Парагвай (Paraguay)
Heard at 00:30 local time, for about a whole hour, at 780 kHz, AM,
Rádio Primero de Marzo from Asunción, the capital of Paraguay.

Think the time in Asunción is an hour less from here and the GMT is
three hours ahead.

Mostly guaranias (the guarania is the Paraguayan music par
excellence) sung in both Spanish (or more appropriately Castilian,
as Spanish is commonly known throughout all South America) and
Guarani (the indigenous language spoken in Paraguay; Paraguay is a
bilingual country so strong is the Guarani culture there).

Insterspersed, also dialogues and interviews with Paraguayans.

Never had heard a Paraguayan station on MW before (only on SW), what
was amazing and noteworthy.

I've already heard, here and there in time, Paraguayan NDBs on LW,
but that's another story.

Clear sound with only occasional fadings, well worth a try to be
heard in the Northern Hemisphere these days: the one who succeeds
will never forget! (Geraldo Bem, Brasil - skywavesmw 12/05/2008)

I have moved to the Northsea coast to escape the interferences on band-1 and FM
in Taunusstein. Also escaping the hills around there and do enjoy the low
horizon with flat terrain here.
Now I am looking for a new calibration source. It seems that Denmark on E3/4
are good candidates. Both carriers I get here but E3 Fyn seems to have deviated
in the past. E4 Kopenhagen is pretty near its nominal fx, considering my
Winradio may be a few Hz off.
Can anyone verify it is still on 62.057.275 ?

It is nice to see an empty E2 (no more leaky cable-TV anymore) with pings from
Norway, also on R1 many pings of St.Petersburg/Minsk, Moscow, Novosolniki, Buky
all with just the same dipole indoors. No time to set up a proper antenna for
the next few weeks

Tried for Buxton on 50/70 Mhz but not sure if I get it, the faint traces could
just be locals interferences. (Jurgen B., Germany - dxldyg 10/05/2008)

Due to this good weather I put up the UHF antenna to see what tropo may bring
in. Many TV2 from DNK with good signals last night and this morning all in the
180..330km range. Also around midnight BBC1-22, ITV-25, BBC-28, Five-37,
seems to be from Scotland or N.England.
Where can I find a analog channel-list for UK?

TV2 on E33 (230km) still weak, all others gone now

I now see trouble with my TV-card when the adjacent channel carries DVB-T, the
IF PLL locks on those carriers when the wanted signal gets weak and results in
a negative video. Fortunately I can reduce the bw to force it back on the
wanted carrier. (Jurgen B., Germany - skywaves 12/05/2008)

Prez @ Camp David, MD
Antenna: passive 4 ft vertical @ 40 ft (RF Systems GMDSS-2)
Radio: ICOM R75, grounded to concrete entombed rebar

Lost old house to fire. Re-built new house same QTH (rural MD,
about 1-1/2 miles from the "real" Camp David).

Wife insisted on no long wires or coax in plain sight.

Worked w/ builder from day One. Had the RF Systems GMDSS-2 roof
mounted, all coax, and grounding wires behind the walls. Grounded
to rebar entombed into the concrete foundation walls. And the rebar
was tied into the other reinforcing rebars in the foundation and
footers. The foundation is 10 inches thick, 10 feet high, 45 feet
long and 35 feet wide.

Don't capture as much signal as my 160 ft longwire, but it's much
quieter.

MOROCCO
595 RTM has been noted elsewhere in Europe, and I've been asked whether
it's
Morocco: it is Oujda, NE Morocco; e.g. 2117-..., 07 May, parallel to 540
Tahadart, 33443, weakish audio most of the time (hence hard to ID), QRM
de POR. I was not fully sure of what it was a number of weeks ago, and
even disregarded it because Oujda has been regular on 594 for ages, but
it's the RTM after all, and the heterodyne is pesting the channel for
too too long now. That of Syria on 782 is nevertheless even "older."

Неопознанное

9450 at 0037 May 11, VG signal with rock song. What`s this? PWBR ``2008``, which I keep by the radios to consult while the computer is off, no help. O yes, it`s R.

Nederland, Bonaire in Spanish, as group soon shouted ID. Also // 6165 but about one second behind it in deliberate delay to even out power consumption. Music is still not

banned on the Spanish SW service of RN; it`s La Fonoteca per http://www.informarn.nl/horariosyfrecuencias/sabados-y-domingos

I can remember when The Concertgebouw Orchestra was on RN shortwave every Sunday, but you won`t hear classical music concerts on any SW language service of RN

U S A. 4430, WSRC, Fair Bluff NC, 0350-0555 April 3, strong spur in

The Blue, bluegrass music program at 0457; only traces of their
fundamental were audible here as I don`t have a MW loop to reject QRM.
I planned on doing a bit more DXing but couldn`t stop listening to
this station. For me, it just doesn`t get any better than old time
radio drams and bluegrass music! Outstanding signal, 70 dB and full
quieting at times (Richard Parker, Pennsburg PA, Collins 51S-1, 51-X,

2980, 0430-0500 9 March, definitely some sort of LS [sic; LA?]
station; Spanish news, jingles, announcements by M&W; would think this
was a 2 x 1490 harmonic were it not for its good signal strength and
the presence of some rather ineffective jamming, which consisted of a
carrier swinging back and forth across 2980. Best guess is this came
out of Cuba; fair (Burlew, PA, Tropical Band loggings, May NASWA
