1) give someone a piece of one`s mind - открыто и сердито бранить, высказывать все, что думаешь.

2) have rocks in one`s head - быть тупым, не соображать, что делать.

3) head shrinker - психиатр, психоаналитик.

4) ram (something) down someone's throat - насильно, или против желания, заставлять делать кого-то.

The lawyer rammed the settlement down our throats even though we were not happy with it.

 

5) rack one`s brain - напрягать мозги, усердно думать.

6) keep a stiff upper lip - проявлять твердость духа, держаться молодцом.

We managed to keep a stiff upper lip when the company announced that they would close down our office.

My sister's small son is always in her hair when she is making dinner.

There was a head-on crash last night near our house that left three people dead.

 

9) make head or tail of something - разбираться что к чему.

I was unable to make head nor tail of our company's plans to restructure our department.

 

10) tooth and nail - жестко бороться не на жизнь, а насмерть.

We fought tooth and nail to get the new wing of the hospital opened.
