1) birds and bees - сведения о сексе и рождении детей. Аналог 'о пестиках и тычинках', 'откуда дети берутся'.

The girl`s mother told her daughter about the birds and the bees during the summer holidays.

2) flea in one`s ear - неприятная мысль.

I think that I put a flea in his ear when I told him about the computer problems.

3) bug in one`s ear - мысль, идея.

You put a bug in his ear about a holiday to France and he won`t stop talking about it.

4) world is one`s oyster - 'весь мир будет лежать у Ваших ног'.

When you graduate from university the world will be your oyster so don`t worry about the future.

5) neither fish nor fowl - что-то непонятное. 'ни рыба, не птица'.

I don`t know what you should call it. It is neither fish nor fowl.

6) holy mackerel - Ё-моё. Вот это да!

"Holy mackeral! Look at the size of that man`s motorcycle."

7) louse up - 'навшивить'. Напортачить.

Please try not to louse up the computer again. It was working fine this morning.

8) ants in one`s pants - 'иметь муравьев в трусах'. 'Как скипидаром намазанный'.

The teacher asked the little boy if he had ants in his pants when he kept moving around in his seat.

9) mad as a hornet - 'бешеный, как шмель'. 'Кому бы морду набить'.

He was as mad as a hornet when he came to work this morning.

10) bug-eyed - широко открытые глаза от удивления.

The little boy was bug-eyed when he got a new bicycle for a birthday present.
