The Community Affairs Manager (CAM) is the primary Microsoft contact in the subsidiary for the Community Technology Skills Program as well as other Community Affairs projects and activities including software donations, curriculum, MAR- and disaster response. The CAM works under the guidance of the Regional Community Affairs Director, and closely with the Public Sector colleagues, sales and marketing staff, the Partners in Learning (PiL) and ITA Manager PTA manager, PR/Communications Manager and HR Manager and reports directly to the citizenship lead in the subsidiary.
In fulfilling the job responsibilities, the CAM is expected to possess or develop an understanding of subsidiary organization, policies, business priorities, opportunities and challenges. In addition, the CAM will have a solid understanding of the external environment related to citizenship and community affairs efforts, including but not limited to knowledge of key non-profit, public and private sector entities, as well as the overall political and socio-economic environment in the country.
The CAM will be expected to use online tools developed for citizenship and community affairs program support (e.g. Collage, Cybergrants) and be able to communicate effectively with external and internal partners both in English and Russian.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Management
·Proactively explore community investment opportunities for the country(ies) covered by the subsidiary through strategic partnerships with eligible local organizations
·Develop and manage strategic partnerships with key partners in order to maximize the effectiveness and resources of the project.
·Serve as a liaison between NGO partners and Microsoft
·Conduct due diligence on UP CTSP proposals (as outlined in the grant application and guidelines) and present proposals to the regional review committee for annual review and grant-making decision
·Coordinate with the local PiLand ITA managers and explore venues for mutually leveraging the UP programs with PiLand ITA
·Actively cooperate with the regional review team during the process of review of UP grant proposals
·Conduct due diligence on non-UP grants in line with legal requirements and best standards and practices in grantmaking, and make grant decisions in line with sub guidelines
·Conduct regular site visits to Community Affairs programs funded by Microsoft
·Ensure reporting from all grantees in line with corporate and regional guidance and review reports for any irregularities, recommendations, or amendments necessary to the grant
·Secure end-of-project report from all grantees upon completion of the grant, including external evaluations when applicable.
Software donations
·Manage sub s/w donation policy and implementation
·Track success of the program and develop promotion plan with the partners
Employee Engagement
·Promote employee engagement to MS employees, closely coordinating with the HR manager, PiL manager and other stakeholders inside and outside the company
·Assist in strategic placement of employees in Community Affairs supported projects
·Direct general employee giving questions to appropriate sub staff.
Disaster response
·Serve as coordinator for all disaster response requests for country covered by the subsidiary; drive eligible requests through the approval, fulfillment, accountability and recognition steps
·Serve as subsidiary liaison for Corp and regional disaster initiatives
Other
·Management of community interactions includes saying “no” to many requests; respond to all inquiries in a diplomatic and timely manner
·Work with the local PR/Communications and Citizenship managers on a grant announcement plan and any other tools used to communicate Microsoft’s community investments in the country
·Coordinate with the regional PR/Comms team to create consistency in messaging and content and to provide input for region-wide communications and PR.
·Provide regular input to the regional and corporate share location to facilitate sharing of best practices and for project monitoring purposes
