Ytria have let me have copies of their upcoming version 10 of their Notes utilities suite.
The new feature I like most is that it now keeps a history of Formulas I've typed. That's one of my long-term gripes out the window already.
Another gripe I've always had with ScanEZ is that, when searching by formula, if your formula returns no documents the search dialog closes. More often than not you want to tweak the formula and try again. To do this you have to re-open the search dialog via the menus.
I mentioned this gripe to Ytria and within a day they'd confirmed it was on their change list. Brilliant. I love software you can play a part in.
Standalone ScanEZ
The other thing I asked for was something I'd assumed not possible - that they make ScanEZ a standalone program that I can run independent of Notes. A lot of what I do with Notes now is support work. I find myself opening the Notes client just to get to ScanEZ, from where I can find, examine and manipulate the documents really easily.
Well, guess what. It turns out ScanEZ is a standalone program! Take a look in the Notes folder:
From there you can (if using Windows 7) pin a shortcut to tour Start menu, like so:
I now have the choice to avoid loading the Notes client when I know all I need to do launch ScanEZ.
Once ScanEZ launches you can use the Open Database dialog to find what you're looking for.
If you tend to always use the same few databases then, it turns out, there's even a "My Favorites" menu item to store them.
It also loads the last-opened database on launch, which is nice.
I don't know what I'd do without this great little utility.
Scan What?
If you have no idea what ScanEZ is then this video might shed some light:
It's not a cheap tool but, if they didn't give it me for free, then I'd probably have to do and buy it. It's a tool I'd struggle without.
Disclaimer: Ytria give me their tools for free. More than likely in the hope I'll tell you how great they are. That's not why I'm writing this though and I'm under no obligation to. I write entries like this because I like it so much and want you to know about it.
We are very excited while writing this our first blog entry. We are starting this blog to share our knowledge to explore it more.
Our vision is to share our knowledge. We are willing to share our tips and tricks we use in our daily life to make our development very fast. We will share how we can make the fully working workflow applications in Lotus Domino by saving almost 75% of the time that is being invested by many developers today.
We will also learn how to make the error free application at the first time so that our testing time can be reduced. We will focus on the trips and tricks by which we can save a lot of time invested in the testing of the applications.
We will also learn some shortcuts that can be taken to reduce our total development effort.
We also invite the suggestions from the readers to add some values to this blog.
We have a plan to select the best tip every month by using various methods like voting, comments etc. The winner will be hounored and will be given special services from our site.

I am also syncing my Contacts using Traveler. I created a list of my contacts by myself.
I also have a sister with the same lastname ... If I like to search for the lastname of my sister I get all(!) contacts since the search seems also to search in the CreatedBy field. Since I created the contacts and I have the same lastname as my sister always all contacts are found.
Also there is pain if searching for the firstname! Also having contacts which have the same firstname as I have (my firstname is Harald). If I like to search for all Haralds in my contacts I also always getting all contacts ...
I am using Firefox and iNotes (e.g. for reading e-mails on the go).
When I'd like to use the iNotes context menu (e.g. in the mail list - right click on a e-mail) then the iNotes context menu appears but it is hidden by the Firefox context menu.
Workaround: Press the ESC button which "closes" the Ffirefox context menu and so the iNotes menu will be visable ....
Info: Under IE7 and Chrome the problem does not occur. Even Chrome is not officially supported ;-)
Still found no way to add ideas to 'My Favorites': You don't have any favorite ideas yet
Since the text "You don't have any favorite ideas yet" suggests that it is possible to add ideas to favortites I'd just like to have a "Add to Favorites" link somewhere ^^.
Of course I consultet the help section but there is no information about it.
Currently you can only select the destination server for server side archiving in the Archive settings document. Many users would only have one archive settings document applied to them which means archiving can only be pushed to one archive server. If we moved the destination server into the archive criteria we could have one archive settings document per user but several archive criterias pointing to different servers. We have a client who needs to archive to a different archive server each year due to the massive amount of archived mail. Currently the archive criteria document only allows you to select a file destination. If we could add the server destination to the archive criteria document we could create a new criteria each year which points to a new server and maintains the other criterias. Hope this makes sense. Cheers,
To make Domino a real "Internet Application Server", it would be nice for IBM to offer a Domino Internet Application Server that is built to use either OAuth, OpenID, or Facebook Connect as an authentication mechanism. The server would be priced similar to the way the Utility server is priced, but would not contain all the Domino services. SMTP, Replication, Indexing and AdminP would be included, but the server would not allow access via Notes Client and would contain a minimal Domino Directory. A new, simplified, browser-based Admin client could be created to manage the authentication mechanisms and to manage application deployment.
Wouldn't it be great if when searching mail you would have the option to e.g. search "Subject and Body" only, which translates into [subject] = "<search term>" OR [Body] = "<search term>"
Notes FT Search is great but for an end user it is really hard to learn to do a somewhat advanced search. Try telling your user to input the above search term.
At least there should be a way to easily search mail, calendar entries and contacts.
I love Notes and hate to read negative feedback an Notes hate web sites, but I have to admit search really isn't user friendly.
