Captain of the Spanish national team Sergio Ramos recalled his proudest moments in his 'La Roja' shirt and gave his opinions on the upcoming World Cup in Russia, during an interview in Madrid, aired Friday.
Comparing how the current Spanish team compares with the one which won the World Cup in 2010, the Real Madrid player said that he doesn't «think it is either better or worse,» noting that in South Africa the Spaniards had «an amazing team of players, a mix of veterans and young ones».
Discussing the World Cup in Russia, the central defender stated that there are many strong teams, mentioning five time champions Brazil and 2014 winners Germany as an example.
Asked how he thinks the Russian team will cope with the pressure of being the host nation, Ramos said, «I think that when one plays at home, backed by their country, one always has a higher responsibility; it is a plus and it gives extra motivation which will shine through».

President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach spoke to the press ahead of a meeting on North Koreas’s (DPRK) participation in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, speaking from Lausanne on Saturday.
Bach expressed his hopes for a “constructive meeting”, which is to include discussion on the size of the possible DPRK delegation, the events that it can attend and the possibility of marching together with the South Korea under the common flag, as both Koreas agreed to do on Wednesday.
The discussion may be complicated by the fact that North Korea missed a deadline to register their participation in the Olympics.
The parties also include the representatives of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and a delegation from the PyeongCgang 2018 Organising Committee.
North Korea has also offered to send a 230-member cheerleading squad to the Olympics as well as 150-member delegation made up of athletes and cheerleaders to the Paralympics in March. North and South Korean officials also discussed fielding a joint women's ice hockey team.

Delegations set to discuss whether North Korea (DPRK) will participate in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics arrived in Lausanne on Saturday.
The delegations which are taking part in the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) negotiations included South Korean representatives, International Ski Federation (FIS) President Gian-Franco Kasper, North Korean representative Chang Ung and members of the PyeongChang 2018 Organising Committee.
IOC President Thomas Bach also arrived, expressing his hopes for the «constructive» meeting.
Points of discussion on the agenda include: the size of the possible DPRK delegation, the events that it can attend and the possibility of marching alongside the South Korea under the common flag, as both Koreas agreed to do on Wednesday.
After the delegations arrived, both Korean flags were seen to fall in a sudden gust of wind while the IOC flag kept standing.
The day's discussion may be complicated by the fact that North Korea missed a deadline to register their participation in the Olympics.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has confirmed that both the DPRK and South Korea will participate in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Games, and will together march under the Korean Unification Flag during the opening ceremonies, in a statement given in Lausanne on Saturday.
Despite missing a registration deadline, North Korea will be allowed to have some athletes participate, and will be sending 22 athletes who will compete in three sports and five disciplines.
The two countries have also agreed to form one Women’s Hockey Team together. “For the first time in Olympic history, the two Korean teams will unite to compete as one team in a sport. The unified women’s ice hockey team will be represented by the Korean unification flag, and will compete as Korea”, Bach said.

Возможность принять участие в Олимпийских играх в Пхенчхане осталась почти у 400 российских атлетов. Международный олимпийский комитет сократил на 111 пунктов предварительный список, ранее насчитывавший 500 человек.
При этом пока неизвестно, кто именно из россиян поедет на игры. Окончательные списки будут опубликованы не ранее 27 января, после нескольких проверок, сообщается на сайте МОК.
МОК допустил 22 спортсменов из КНДР к участию в Олимпиаде

Международный Олимпийский комитет допустил атлетов из Северной Кореи к участию в зимних Олимпийских играх в южнокорейском Пхенчхане.
По итогам заседания МОК, которое прошло в субботу в Лозанне, было объявлено, что спортсмены из КНДР выступят в беговых и горных лыжах, шорт-треке и фигурном катании. Кроме того, Южная и Северная Корея сформируют — впервые в истории — единую сборную по женскому хоккею. На церемонии открытия Олимпиады спортсмены из КНДР и Южной Кореи пройдут вместе, под одним флагом.
Всего, как ожидается, на Игры в Южную Корею приедут 22 спорстмена из КНДР. В делегации также будут 24 спортивных функционера и 21 журналист.
