Check out Andrew Love’s latest entry- 1000m Analysis- and watch the video, the subject of his post- Andrew Love Speed Skating 1,000 Meters-

Short track does seem to help my fade more than anything else, even more than a whole summer of marathon inline racing. Probably because it helps hip strength to hold the position in the turns.

(info for non speedskaters, anything over a 2 second lap fade in a 1000m is bad, I did load the training pretty hard this week too.)

2008-10-07 17:29 peterdoucet

Roller En Ligne published a French/ English interview with Peter Choc & Peter Vasek- first place finishers of the duo category at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. The interview helps us better understand & appreciate  the 24-hour experience-

PV: We mainly cared about our drinking regime and each two hours we tried to eat something (except energy-gels and tablets). There was no time to sleep, I took one quick shower in the middle of the race.
PCH: I went to the shower 3 times and during my breaks I tried to jog-trot, mainly at night when it got much colder. I had no problems with sleeping as with 3laps exchange, there was no time and it would not help at all.

John Lyke is the second Win The Samples Contest winner!
2008-10-07 23:09
Congrats to John Lyke, who wins himself a pair of brand new Sagona UFS Throne samples. Among other reasons, we liked the way that he had already been repping the Rachard thrones in numerous edits and photos, and we liked his ideas for promotion.

Some of you also may remember John from his third place in the Razors p-rail challenge.

Congrats John Lyke!

Korea News- Frame Length
2008-10-08 01:34 Peter Doucet

Check out Korea News for some talk about equipment, including frame length-

Nowadays, a few Korean female amateur skaters are getting attracted by 110 equipments - men already using 110 widely. One of them was Eun-sil, Min(Alznner), queen of female amateur skater in Korea. She wanted to try 110, but she has small feets like Nicole. So she bought a pair of Vaypor 3points stock boots to minimize a burden from 110. The results looks excelllent so far. She is a good skater already,so she adopts 110 quickly and successfully I guess. When I visited Bont Korea, I saw her pink custom 3 pointsVaypor(Just arrived) waiting for her.

The thread Now everybody is talking about the good old days… is the source of videos from the 1992 World Roller Speed Skating Championships. The most recent video is Luca Antoniel 300m on quads Worlds 1992.

I can remember the first time I saw him in the flesh at Cassana D Adda in 1988, Dai Davis told me the hair on the back of your neck , will stand on end when you see him take off, he had a long Body & a shortleg lever, from the thight to the knee, great for power creation.

Like many of our great champions like Cruciani & Hedrick, they have not had standard body types, but something that was an advantage for our sport.
