Thank you very much to everyone who’s given and donated to help support my webiste and my racing- you can still pitch in by clicking here or clicking on the image below- Thank you for encouraging me in following my dreams and sharing my love for speed skating. Like many of you out there, I spend a lot of resources including time and money to participate in roller speed skating and to be the best that I can be. Speed Skate World is one of the avenues that I have chosen to share all the wonder and joys that are connected to speed skating. This Fundraising Drive has helped to pay for a portion of my airfare to Europe to train and compete in preparation for the World Roller Speed Skating Championships. This support is very important to me, especially since I have limited financial support- I am deeply appreciative to everyone who has supported and donated. Between leaving for Europe, focusing on training and racing, and the World Roller Speed Skating Championshis, I won’t have time to chase down sponsors. This Fundraising Drive is my way of doing so. ![]() 2008-06-09 02:15 peterdoucet Earlier today, I was training in Longueuil (Montreal) at the St-Lambert 400-meter track. The 400-meter track is about a baseball field’s length away from the Gilles Villeneuve F1 Track which is just north at Parc Jean Drapeau on L’Ile Notre Dame. I was training at the same time as today’s Formula 1 race- the Canadian F1 Grand Prix. F1 cars are damn loud! Even in the middle of 200-meter sprints, the Formula 1 cars make ear piercing sounds. They make a high pitched intensely performance driven sound. They sound like what they look like. I’m sure you’ve heard F1 cars on television. F1 cars sound even sweeter when you’re 200-meters away from them as they race at 350km/h. The sound hit me so hard that I was getting shivers…
It was a really cool feeling knowing that while I was in the middle of a sprint and trying to turn my body into a faster machine, Formula 1 cars were racing by at top speeds in the same direction as me. From where I was, I could see the stands packed with fans, the helicopters flying over head getting some great shots for television, and planes flying loops with trailing huge banners. Despite the scorching heat, burning sun, sore legs, and brutal wind, I really enjoyed today’s training session. ![]() 2008-06-09 06:32 nobody@flickr.com (Geoffrey Levy) Geoffrey Levy posted a photo: atlanta, ga
