Snow Day!!
2008-02-01 14:53 Peter Doucet Snow Day!!: I stayed up late last night... or I should say this morning and I woke up very early this morning, looking outside my kitchen window and waiting impatiently for the white gold to start flowing from the skies.
At 4:30am, a jackpot of snow started raining down- and along with the snow, there came a flurry of school closures; the Peel District School Board- which I work for- decided to close the schools!!
That was an extremely wise decision.
Each schools in the school board I work for puts together a list of phone numbers in the event that schools are closed. This list involves a chain of teachers, adminsitrators, and secretaries calling each other when the school closure is officially official.
The person who just called me about 30 seconds ago said they were disappointed to be letting me know that the school is closed. She didn't sound very sincere though. I was then responsible for calling one of our fabulous secretaries. She was already awake waiting for my call when I phoned her. She says that I am now her favourite person.
Snow daaaaayyy!!
Snow starts to fall outside of my house. I'll be shoveling this in a few hours when I re-wake up
Don't get me wrong; I love my job. The students, teachers, administrators, and parents are amazing, but we're rarely treated to a snow day. We all know that we will see each other again next week.
It's funny because as I write this, CP24 is reporting that they have a ton of cancelations coming in, hehehe. They report 'Godzilla'-Like Storm Expected To Stomp GTA With Heavy Snow'.
I wonder many students and teachers are very very excited at this very moment. I know at least one- ME!
I will be driving 800km's later today through the snowstorm to Montreal and beyond. I expect it that drive to be no fun at all. Or maybe it will be. I'll listen to audio books and tons of music.
