Система компьютерной алгебры GAP: mini-workshop 'Binding Groups' in Manchester

Dear Colleagues,

A mini-workshop "Binding Groups" will be held at University of
Manchester from Mon 9 to Fri 13 January 2012. "Binding groups" are
abstract versions of Galois groups as they arise in model theory; the
Galois theory of differential equations constitute an important a
special case.

The first two days are devoted to introductory lectures which will be
set at a level accessible to a newcomer; everyone is warmly welcome.

This is their the tentative schedule, further updates can be found at
http://www.maths.manchester.ac.uk/~avb/bindinggroups.html

1. Simon Iosti (Lyon), Model theoretical backgrounds. Mon 9 January 11:00-13:00
2. Anand Pillay (Leeds), Binding groups in omega-stable theories, with
special reference to the Galois theory of differential equations. Mon
9 Jan 14:00-15:00
3. Dugald MacPherson (Leeds), Interpretable groups, stably embedded
sets, and Vaughtian pairs. Tue 10 Jan 10:00-13:00
4. Adrien Deloro (Paris 6). Abstract representation theory of
algebraic groups. Tue Jan 10 14:00-17:00

Lecture slots include tea breaks and plenty of time for questions. All
lectures are in G.209. On Monday night, we shall have an informal
get-together dinner.

You may find interesting the last three days of the workshop, too;
they will be filled mostly with panel discussions, problem sessions,
and brainstorming sessions.

For directions, etc. please see
