I am afraid that I have not had time to find some news stories for you this week but I am pleased to send you the answers to last week’s homework:

Part One:

Part Two:

  1. Please leave me alone; I’m trying to finish this essay.
  2. I’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch what you said.
  3. If you want any more tickets, just let me know
  4. Ivan: How many people can we take in the bus?

    5. Paul: Ooh …. er, let me see er…..about 30, I think.

  5. We can’t make an omelette – we haven’t got any eggs left. You had the last one yesterday.

This week’s homework is about uses of "Get":

Part One: Write a synonym for ‘get’ in each of these sentences.

  1. Where can I get something to eat round here?
  2. I’m just going to get some paper from the office. I’ll be back in a minute
  3. What time did they get here last night?
  4. Paul got very angry when I told him what you did with his CDs.
  5. I couldn’t get a room; all the hotels were full.
  6. I normally get about four or five letters a week.
  7. This book is getting quite interesting.
  8. I must get some stamps before I go home.
  9. Paul sent the letter last week but I didn’t get it until yesterday.
  10. Do they often get here early?

Part Two: Complete the dialogues using "getting" + a suitable adjective. Add other words if necessary.
