Здравствуйте!
Надеюсь, что вы уже разобрались в основных трудностях  перевода прямой речи в косвенную в настоящем времени.
Проверим.
Kate asks  her friend if she  likes her new dress.
 The old man  asks  Jack if he  Will  show him the way to the post-office.
Важно помнить, что в косвенной речи нужен прямой порядок слов.
Продолжим.
 Boris says, “ What do they grow here, Uncle Pete?”
 Boris asks his uncle what they grow there.
 The teacher asks , “Who was in the country last summer?”
The teacher asks the pupils who was in the country last summer.
Сделайте сами.
 Mr. Green ( to his friend) : Where are you going to your holidays?
Lucy: What are looking for, Granny?  
А теперь посмотрим, что получилось с другими предложениями.


 1. We had  such a hard time trying to persuade him that we gave up.( отказаться от предложения).
2. It was a great party.  Everybody enjoyed it.
3. I asked  two people the way to the station but  neither of them knew.
 Обратите внимание TWO PEOPLE.
We use BOTH, NEITHER and EITHER when we are talking  about  2
things. You can use these words with a noun.
 -Both  restaurants  are  very  good.  Neither   restaurant        is
expensive. We can go to either restaurant, I don't mind. ( either= one or the other, it doesn't matter which  one.)  I  didn't  like either restaurant (not the one or the other).
 b) You can also use BOTH, NEITHER/ EITHER with  OF...  When  you use these words with OF , you always need THE/ THESE/ THOSE/  MY/ YOUR/ HIS.... You have to say 'BOTH OF THE RESTAURANTS,  BOTH  OF THESE RESTAURANTS...
 Both of these restaurants are very good. Neither of the rest. we went to was ( were) expensive. With BOTH you can leave out OF. So you can say: both my parents or both of my parents.

4. Do you like this new hat of  hers?
5. We’ve got  some eggs. Let’s make an omelet.
6. There were chairs on  either side of the table.(по обе стороны стола)
7.  They say her husband’s been seeing that Mrs. Hastings again.
Говорят….

8. There is no need to hurry, we still have  a little time left.
9. Who’s speaking?- It’s me.
10. I like this pen, but I don’t like  the others.
